Description

Drove thru just to check this place out for future possible stays or stopovers. It was the end of Dec. and there was no one at ether camp ground. The cost is $15 per night and there are 2 separate campgrounds. The first campground is off a little road to the left and is marked here by the grid coordinates, it has 22 spots that are descent size with a table, fire pit and little covered area. There are bathrooms centrally located, water scattered throughout and a garbage can at each camp. Due to the fact that this is a reservoir i.e. lots of water, I think it will be very buggy in the summer. This camp area is on the down stream side of the reservoir Dam and is bordered on one side by a river. Not much water in it in Dec. however. The second camp area further up the main road has about 30 or so spots that are very close together and offer very little space for tents although would work for a RTT. This camp is on the reservoir side of the Dam and offers fishing, swimming and a boat ramp. It even has a fish washing station and bathrooms with a shower stall, All in all Rye Patch is a decent, clean place not to far off HWY 80 to stop and stretch your legs for a day or 2.

Arrived after dark Friday night in December. Campground was open. Bathrooms were closed but a portable was available. A few other motor homes were but it was very quiet! Convenient location right off the freeway.

Found this lovely oasis on our way from Reno/Sparks and were pleasantly surprised at this hidden gem in the middle of the desert! The showers were clean and water hot, bathrooms were also tidy. There were both gravel and paved sites with one water front pull through site., dump stations, but you need your own hose for rinse out. Area is peaceful and quiet with no road noise. Leashed dogs allowed.

Reviewed last night. Forgot to add pix Dead Quiet night once tenters stopped chatting about their golf game!

Great spot. Peaceful November Thursday nite and a handful of Rv s here. Leaves are rustling, no bugs, smudge swathe of Milky Way

Nice established camp ground (some dry sites, some with electric) in Rye Patch State Park. River Campground has spaced out sites. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Pretty buggy with nats & mosquitos this time of year. Many of the sites big rig friendly. Almost full when we arrived at 9ish pm on a Saturday. Flush toilets, warm showers. $15 for NV plate, $20 for all others.

Beautiful oasis in the desert. Shady sites available. I didn't find any electrical hookups, but there are water taps in the campground and a dump site at the entrance. No Verizon connection.

Small campground right near a dam and slow river. Bugs everywhere.

We didn’t stay here overnight. We stopped along our route to jump into some water. The water didn’t look clean enough to jump into so we just hung out and enjoyed the beautiful views. There were very few people when we showed up, so it was extremely peaceful and quiet.

We camped at the upper campground which is at the dead end point of the road. Because it was off-season there were only a few campers in there which made it very nice you have a view of the lake end of the mountains. The campsites are very close together so during the season if it were full it would be very cramped. There are bathrooms and showers there which looked really nice. There was good Verizon service present. I would not take a big rig back in there given the limited space. You could turn around but you would simply be parked right next to someone if you plan to camp there.

Lovely spot to stop for the night. Took a swim in the reservoir with our dog. Fun! Had our coffee this morning looking over the river and spillway. No hookups but great quiet spot. We’ll be back.

Great for tent and RV camping. $15 for a regular spot or $25 for a spot with water and electric. Quiet, and beautiful. There are free showers too!

Arrived at sunset and paid $15 for a gravel spot perched on a hill with picnic table and water spigot. 5-6 other cars parked in the area too. Quiet and away from the crowds - perfect for a one night stay. Bathrooms were clean. Strong 4G connection with TMobile!

Hidden gem, just 3 min off hwy80. Lots of campsites. New campground maybe?shade structures and fire rings that haven’t been used as of June 1st.Swimming and fishing seem to be popular. There is even a boat ramp. This place is really stinky. maybe from the trees, but really overbearing at times. Camp cost $20

Awesome little stop off point. $15 to camp. Nice reservoir, tables, water, bathrooms and dump station. Friendly locals who share ice.

Reasonably large camping in the middle of nowhere with plenty of trees for shade and a firepit for each site. We stopped here as an overnight stop between salt lake and reno. The showers are great and warm. During the day the RVs that were there ran their generators, but they stopped at night. The dam also makes some noise (high pitch).
