Absolutely loved this spot! Camped in the center campsite which gave a near 360 view of the lake as the campground is on a peninsula. So many islands to explore, bring a water vessel! Sandy beach area for swimming with child life jackets for borrow and buoys, plus no gators! Quartz everywhere. I did hear a pretty intense argument through the woods that concerned me a little, but was talking to a local couple at the time and they made it seem like a normal thing. Only lasted a few minutes on first day. Stayed two nights with no other incidents. Outhouse in good shape. I didn’t want to leave, I’ll be back with a canoe and more time some day. Picnic tables, fire ring and grill at most sites.

Great location right on the lake. Rec area plus a few camp spots scattered around the point. Each camp spot has a fire ring, stone picnic table and grill. Not the most level area, but quiet and easy access to the water. Park rangers check in and record personal info.

Best free campground I've found yet! Right on the water. Picnic table, grill, and fire ring. There are pit toilets near a public beach. Unfortunately, they were locked during my stay. Decent Verizon signal.

As described below! Amazing swimming and easy kayaking to all the little islands nearby. Camp spots are on the lake shore. Stayed mid June and it was warm during the day but cool enough to sleep comfortably at night. No issues with bugs. All spots are under the trees so we couldn’t use starlink. Only 1 other camper here when we arrived.

Great swimming, kayaking, boating etc. The recreation area is perfect for camping, Mix of Flat and sloping sites, Suggest you leave the boat ramp area to those launching boats. Shade. 2 bars Verizon, Tanger calls by each day. 14 days free allowance. We visited Memorial weekend which was busy. On our own the days following. Unfortunately there was a group with 2 40ft trailers who kept their 2 generators running almost 24/7 ruining the sounds of nature for everyone. It was magic to experience this place after they left. If you don’t have a kayak bring pool noodles to swim out to the closer islands - such fun! Water was around 77deg on the top.

Seen two huge 40 foot RVS parked. East road to get to on gravel. NO INSETS OR BUGS like most other sites. Great fishing spot. Place to launch kayaks and paddle boards. Lots of islands. Free firewood everywhere. Picnic tables and fire rings. You can stay 14 days for FREE.

Nice secluded primitive camp area with picnic tables, BBQ grills, and fire rings. Gorgeous views of the lake and shade in the pines. Several miles off off main highway but still saw a few other cars nearby fishing. One van lifer camped across the road but overall a great spot. Paved road all the way to the camp sites. Also a small country store a few miles away with gas ice and snacks.

This is an amazing spot right on the lake. There were 4 areas with fire rings and picnic tables, 3 right on the lake & 1 in the middle of the loop. It is a long, narrow & bumpy road to get back there, but easily made it in my Promaster. This is a great spot to put in a kayak or paddleboard & check out all of the little islands!
T-Mobile service was spotty at best.
Bathrooms are still closed.

great spot. a few other tent campers, a couple other vans, trash cans, pit toilets, beautiful views, nice lake water.

Great spot! Nice sunset and sunrise over the lake. Only saw two other cars, which didn't stay the night. Bathrooms are currently closed (maybe die to Covid or maybe winter). Decent Verizon 4G service.

Very nice and quiet park. Only one other person in a van that was camping. Arrived at 10:30 pm and never saw any patrol. I can tell the fire pits aren’t maintained regularly because we had to empty out all old ash and trash. Left it cleaner than when we got there. Ground is covered in what looked like a bunch of quartz which was really cool. Roxy! This spot rocks

Very nice camp area that we are doing in the off season. Great view of the lake from nearly all the camp sites with many little islands in view. As to be expected during this time of year, bathrooms and water access are closed off.

We stayed here for 2 nights without any problems, the sheriff came by and checked in on us which was pleasant. It was nice staying right near the lake, a little buggy but that’s expected. There is also a swimming area that we took advantage of. We parked at the first pull off on the right which is more secluded but there is more spots down by the swimming area. This spot treated us well with a great view of the lake and islands, an amazing pink rainbow, and a quite spot to sleep.

Very narrow tree clearing to get here. Sprinter van was scraping the sides and top a lot. Also pretty sloped down at the lake. Still liked the solitude and view!

Free camping at a very cool turnaround spot at Lake Ouachita. Pretty and in the trees with views of nearby islands.
