If you don’t have the choice you can go there but be aware that it’s expensive !!
In another hand , Pacifico found the problem of our diesel pump where 3 mechanic guy before him failed. But he charged us 2000 BoB only for the piece !!! plus 900 Bob for the work (which is fair it took him a while and he repaired well)
I think maybe Jose Fernandez is cheaper.
We felt a bit like he made fun of us…

With another fellow traveler we came with our campers for different reasons at different times and the service was very professional and for a good price. The technician was very honest and told me to go to an Iveco mechanic in Argentina or Peru because the replacements they can do might not last and then cause a real damage. So we have to keep moving since Iveco is badly represented in Bolivia but at least here they were honest, professionals and for a good price which is not always easy to find!

@sean-koenig
the owner was killed in a car accident at the time you got there. Do you speak any Spanish?

We dropped by here to get some stuff on out van fixed but they sent us to another mechanic close by. I think they prefer to work on bigger vehicles. The other mechanic Autotronica Parisaca got the work done but charged us double the original quote. Be wary if they send you there and ask for another option.

This place is terrible!!! Maybe the first people who used these mechanic had good experiences, and we've met some of them, but we've been traveling S. America for 1.5 yrs and been very hard on the truck, see a LOT of mechanics, and for the great reviews they have, they are the WORST! These guys are so slow, like lazy slow, are disorganized, and for me they were fixing unnecessary things. Also really tried to cheat us in a few ways. A small job turned into 6 days of pain and terrible vibes. They finally put the truck togeather without fixing the steering problems and the next day in a serious shop we got it fixed perfectly.
Here Pacifico broke the hydro boost spool valve when dismantling it and Eduardo tried to charge us $898bols for it! I really asked him why we would be the one to pay for something they broke, and he had nothing to say.. We went through the rest of the bill and canceled half of the cost as well and I guarantee it's not the local price, not even close! It's whatever they can suck out of you. They put our new aftermarket fuel filters on reverse (such a basic task) which failed a few days later. I'm so happy we had a backup set for 25,000km later, l put on. The fuel gauge connection broke and we went back to get it fixed again and it broke a second time. They tried to diagnose the fuel pressure with the wrong gauges on the wrongs hoses, and I was showing them and translating from the factory manual and Internet to explain it was wrong and they continued trying their way. Pasifico was so rude and miserable to deal with after that. I asked them for a grease gun and it took them 3 days to get it and it was basically empty. They didn't have a tire inflator. There was a Chilean whose had his truck there for a painful 3 months, and had nothing good to say either. We were in La Paz for a long time, and had met a few other local enthusiasts by chance who had bad experiences as well. To find an o-ring, a real great shop will send a guy to find it and the guy won't come back until he does. Here the owner Eduardo goes, and for us it took 3 days. I could write a 10 page letter from then 6 days we were there. These guys do diesel motors, slow, and guess work.

Handily the best mechanic I have used in 3+ years in Latin America. Knowledgable, honest. They found what I knew about and more, and helped me decipher parts drawings and all I would need, remanufactured the steering assembly (drag link and tie rod), remanufactured brake shoes and pads, and fixed some other stuff. Very fair prices for the quality. Can camp with restrooms, hot shower, water and I imagine power if wanted.

Recommended! We were sent here by Ernesto Hug (La Paz) who doesn't work with diesel engines if you have bigger problems. So we came here to Eduardo and his team, we needed a revision of our Turbo and had some more other issues (e.g. with the steering gear), they fixed all as already said slowly (south american style ;-) ), but in a very careful and professional way. For the spare parts they could not find in Bolivia, they found a way to build them with the help of welders, vulcanization shops etc.... We camped for more than 10 days in the garage incl. toilets and showers, really nice family! And the bill in the end was very, very fair, not to say cheap considering all the stuff which they did!

A place we really can recommend. Our diesel Landcruiser was fixed slowely but in a careful way. The car suffered from extreme power loss and black smoke exhausts. Pacifico our mecanic was a knowledgable and friendly person.
