Pipers Pan Campground No. 1 | Established Campground

A fantastic campsite, as this area is wonderful for game viewing as they have an excellent waterhole supplied by solar powered pumps.
The pans themselves are big rig friendly as long as it is dry, in the wet season heavy vehicles will get stuck! Please note that the road South, to Xade, is very over-grown and not at all big rig friendly; in fact normal vehicles are also scraping past all the trees.
One should really avoid this route, as the road is not traveled often, and if you had a breakdown, you could be stranded for several days.

It is nice to be in the middle of central kalahari just with a second other campsite. As metiond you have to stay in the driveway to have a view on the pan.
We had a great stay. Lots of animals in that area and good views because there is no dense vegetation around. The waterhole is around 3 km away of the camping place.
But...to be honest....
international tourist pay 350 ppn per night to stay here. SA pay less but don't know the prices. A little bit disappointing because there is not even a proper brai place...
We don't want to have luxury in the wild but 350 is way overpriced and it feels again like a rip of for International tourist. Why is everybody thinking that 700 (60$) is not much for us!!!
This pan was still not to be missed for us and if you don't want to rush through these two camsites are the only ones in that area....don't think about the money ;-)

Official Campground. Long drop, basket shower all without water. Fireplace, some trees and bushes around - that's all! Bring everything. If you stay at the enterance near the driveway you have a spectecular view over big parts of the pan and it's wildlife. Better choice than CKPIP-2 (same standart, shady but no view).
