Free. Dispersed campgrounds throughout the WMA. It was raining when I came through but I imagine bugs works be bad otherwise. It's open 7 days a week during hunting season and on weekends only otherwise. There's no fee to camp but there is an entrance fee of $3 for the area. There are fire pits and hiking and interpretive trails.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The deeper in you go, the better the spots get. Although, all the campsite are cool. Even the first couple campsites are nice
Report Check-InAs of right now the road at the north entrance is closed due to construction.
Report Check-Insome great spots 6 or 7 miles in, not sure how long it goes. not much breeze to be found in most but a couple open up e.g. camp H or I, which I highly recommend. semi private with space for 30+ RVs. ground a bit soft for big rigs tho. I'm happy in a class B. caution gators. decent mostly paved road with decent sized pothole communities.
Report Check-InWe stayed here just for an overnight while waiting to go back to Dupuis WMA. You are suppose to pay $3 per person, but there wasn't anyone working the gate and no envelopes. Right on the water and plenty of room to spread out.
Report Check-InGreat free wildlife area with 13 lettered ‘camps’ (A camp, B camp, etc,) which are just separate areas. Campers are supposed to get a free yearly permit but I doubt that people do. Large fields for dispersed camping and setting up camp near a canal which has many fish like bass, gar, blue tilapia (do not throw these back!), sunfish and catfish. Many Gators, (watch your dogs and kids) birds, beautiful nature, quiet with only the breeze blowing. So peaceful. There are home-made rock fire pits and clean porta-John’s throughout the wilderness next to the road. No trash receptacles but there is a dumpster at the entrance for your trash. Pack it in and out. This is a pristine place. Let’s keep it this way, please. Designated hiking trails as well as the Florida Trail. Be careful of fire ants. My husband sat on the grass and developed a terrible, painful rash and needs vodka for medicating. Hail, Stoli! Have mosquito spray handy but they were not too bad. The ant bites are far worse. Magical night skies with falling stars. Make a wish. Kiss your friend.
Report Check-InAfter 3 days of raining every single site was under 0.5-3in of water, I found no dry land and finally stayed at site G. Not much mosquitos but plenty of other bugs. During hunting season camp is pretty packed but a lot of hunters go back to cities during workdays so just ask if you can spend a night or two near someone if can't find a spot.
Report Check-InBetween the North Entrance and the South Entrance there are 16 camps numbered A to P. I went as far as N, almost 10 miles from the north entrance. After heavy rain quite a few sites were flooded. The road is paved to about J, then gravel and dirt but o.k. for all types of vehicles. Main activities in the park are fishing, hunting, boating, and ATV driving in mud!
Report Check-InGreat place out in nature to camp. Camp A is near the entrance and Camp B is about 2 miles down the road. Have not gone any further to see if there is more camps or not. Plenty of space at Camp B. We were here on weekend so a few hunters and other campers are out and about. No toilets and only only garbage bin at entrance so make sure to take garbage with you. There are plenty of primitive fire rings so make sure to bring some firewood with you. Great spot for a camp fire. $3.00 for single person or $6.00 for a full vehicle.
