big campground from the national park. 379 camping sites scattered arround the forest. 5 abolution blocks. First gate at the beach is for the park, there you have to pay the entrence fee for the national park. reserve a camping spot at the reception before the second gate. 140R pp. campsites are very cute. abolution blocks are clean. good camping. especially if you go diving you can camp close to coral divers resort. would recommend.

We stayed here one night. Unfortunately park gate staff were very unhelpful about campsite. 2 of the gate women said they did not know anything about the campsite including what the rates were. We then asked if we could go take a look at campsite to which they said ‘no’ unless you pay park fees for a quick look. We asked for camp phone number to call and we’re told they didn’t have it. Come on the same organization that runs the park also runs the campsite? Eventually they got a third person who was in back room at gate and he had phone number for campsite that no one answered. After talking to someone at public beach parking lot we decided to pay entrance fee and went to campground and stayed the night but boy was it the run around to get a campsite. Phone number is 033 845 1000, website is www.kznwildlife,.com

They have 40 sites when you actually get to campsite and although facilities are dated it’s not bad.

This was a really useful (and affordable at R105pp) base to do some diving at Sodwana Bay. We camped by the ampitheatre (which had been mown ahead of a big fishing event the following week, unlike the majority of the other camp spots) and it was a good walking distance from both the diving on Sodwana Bay beach and Mseni Lodge (lovely place for drinks/dinner). Like most KZN campsites, ablutions were utilitarian but clean, and spots are shady (but overgrown as mentioned above). We were alone in the 300+ campsite for the second night but still felt safe, though noticed there was no one at the gate when we came back late at night after a turtle tour

Huge campsite, but you can enjoy privacy, pitches are FENCED with trees and bushes (and vervet monkeys). Old but good ablutions, clean.
We paid 230 Rand for the campsite (2pax) and 105 Park fee (2 pax and car)

Report Check-In

35 Rand pp for the park and 10 Rand per night. Out of season 100 Rand pppn for the campsite with electricity (90 Rand without). 130 Rand in the season.
Beach access with the car for free, you get a beach pass at the first boom gate.
4G Vodacom reception on the Campsite. C50 and the large field next to it is the best spot that is not surrounded by trees.

very huge camp site, view on the bush and not on the ocean, clean ablutions. there is no path to the beach as all the campsite is fenced, maybe via the lodge, which is not the campsite... we paid 95 ZAR ppn without electricity (+ the 96 ZAR for overnight park entrance fee for 2 people)

Report Check-In

Really good value. We only payed park fees, one time, and good for Mabibi as well. About 96R for 2p and one car. Then it’s only 8R/ppn to camp. Camping is huge, sites near the lodge have an advantage being closer to the beach access.

We spent 2 nights at the lodge. we could put up our tent at a small spot, nice an cosy. People working here a nice, friendly and very helpful. As it was low season we almost had the place on our own. Bathroom and Kitchen are very clean, everything is well organized and if you have any questions, people will help out as possible. I can simply recommend this place.

Apparently this is the largest campground in the Southern Hemisphere with 350 sites. When we were there on a weekend in February, we saw only one other site occupied. Nice, shady sites. Maintenance of ablutions is poor. Despite monkey warnings, the trash cans at sites aren't monkey proof. We paid R255 for two adults for a site without electricity on a weekend in Feb. There are much nicer campgrounds in the wetlands park, but Sodwana Bay is great for scuba diving.

Report Check-In

paid R170 2 persons and 1 camper

Report Check-In

We paid 340 Rand for the site (up to 4 people).
There is an ATM a little store and a petrol station at the camping Gate.

Report Check-In

Large and widespread campsite with sandy pitches and plenty of bush. We were also supposed to pay 300R (20€) for a site without and 340R (22,50€) for one with electricity even though it was low season and we were the only campers. Place has a bad reputation for theft from cars and tents in the past but not sure about current situation. We didn't stay.

R 75 pp/pn. If you want electricity you pay double the price. Entrance fee to the reserve is only paid once which is R 130 for 2 people +car and you pay R6 pp/pn to sleep inside the reserve.
Great area and close to the beach and lighthouse. Very quiet when we were there and you can do nice walks in the area on/to the beach. If you don't want to stay inside the reserve, there's plenty options outside, about 5km away. Watch out for the vervet monkeys!!
