Report Check-In

A great spot! We had a very pleasant stay. It is a hostal, but during the week there were hardly any guests, it was very quiet and we had the whole very large property almost to ourselves. There is a nice pool, a well equipped kitchen we could use and there is access to the lake. We could eat lunch (big variable buffet) and the staff was very nice (quite different from what is described in another comment). Price is 25.000. Recommended!

Report Check-In

Beautiful place. The price now is 25000pppn. Easy access. Recomend.

We had a great time here with the kids and the parents. Really nice hosts, good food (we had breakfast and once lunch with the tour group which was so far our
best in Colombia). Prices as described before. Short 2km walk to town or el Penol. He can also help you to do an mtb ride or get in a boat to see the lake.

We read the last negative comment and weren't sure what to expect. All other comments were ok and that was our experience, too. We were welcomed by the owner, Rafael, he was friendly. We could park in the parking lot which wasn't one of our nicest spots, but ok. The shower was cold. We could use the kitchen until 10pm. This place offers tours from Medellín and twice a day a group of people arrive to eat there. The tour we saw left around 5. We had a quiet and secure night.

Report Check-In

Reading the previous very emotional entry we were not really deterred and gave the spot a chance. We try to describe the experience objectively.
+ The view is beautiful, not to top.
+ You can walk from La Dicha to Guatapé and the Piedra el Peñol (and take a taxi back).
+ The road is paved except the last 150 m. But there were some hostel guests who all managed this part in a sedan or tuk-tuk.
+ If you like to chat with your hosts about this and that, this is not the right place. We like it more reserved, so it was absolutely okay for us.
- But: it would have been nice and we would have expected that we got information about the place (toilet, kitchen) - we had to ask about everything and even were first told by the lady that cooking was not possible. Misunderstanding? we stood right in the kitchen when we asked.
+ Later the owner apologized twice about that and told us that we can certainly cook there.
+ we stayed 3 nights. So, most likely the pluses predominated for us!

Not our best experience, but probably yours?
Big Rig and LOW CLEARENCE avoide this place, the road to go up there is bad and full of bumps.

PEACE ✌️❤️

Report Check-In

In the meantime, this place has everything a formal campground needs, therefore I change its icon. You need a 10m cable to plug-in your motorhome.
16kg washing machine, one go 10k COP.

This is paradise and more! Beautiful spot with great views, swimming pool, and the kindest hosts! Hot showers, kitchen, clean bathrooms, and pet friendly (they have two friendly dogs). There is access to the lake with kayaks and they have more amenities we just didn’t have time to use them. Highly highly recommend, 20,000 pp

Report Check-In

20,000 COP per person per night. Incredible views! Very quiet and peaceful. Clean toilet and shower. Cooler weather at night. Full kitchen available for use. Average WiFi. Friendly owners. 25 minute walk to Guatapé, or a 5,000 COP tuk tuk ride. We stayed two nights and had a wonderful time here. Recommended!

This is our FIRST FIVE STAR RATING. Beautiful views, access to swim in the lake, clean facilities, a very nice swimming pool, extremely nice hosts, e.g. Gabriel. Stood one night longer than planned & recommend to also stay a full day and use the Kajak (20 kCOP for two for a “Colombian” hour).

As there was some confusion about how to access this spot in the reviews: You will use the gate “Luxe by the Charlee” (not the brown gate next to it) drive uphill, pass the school on your left. At a right turn of the road, there is a private entry to your right (90 degree) which leads steep uphill on a gravel road. On your way up, you will pass a house and on top is the place. We have a Sprinter without 4x4 and we’re able to go up. But best walk it first to see if you can too (we parked the van right next to the road).

Payed 20 kCOP pppn. We also got some late afternoon lunch snacks, which they prepare for a day trip which eats at the restaurant for 45 mins every weekday.

Report Check-In

Super place. Less than 2 km from Guatape and from Piedra del Peñol. 20k pp now without breakfast, however we were spoiled several times with fresh fruit and juices. One of the guys working there, speaks very well English.

Report Check-In

Indeed great place to stay. It’s on top of a little hill with great views of peñol rock and the lake.
Kitchen, toilet, hot shower, swimming pool, hammocks, water with hose, electricity if needed.
Rafael and his staff are super friendly, familiar atmosphere and only a short walk to town.
To get there it’s a little tricky due to sand bags blocking the road at the moment (not sure for how long). Don’t use the gate „Lux the Charlee“ at the main road but the one at the right of it (brown wooden gate). It’s a gravel road up hill, a bit bumpy and maybe not for every vehicle suitable. Walk up first and check it out.

Great place to stay!! Rafael and his staff are super friendly! We had a really great lunch buffet at their place. Wifi is fast, the nice little town of Guatapé is a 15min walk away. I did a wakeboard ride with their new high-end boat, was great fun! Highly recommended!! The price is 20.000 COP per Person, icluding a good breakfast!

Report Check-In

Very good place to stay or to take rest with a beautiful view on Peñol. We paid 20k pppn with a very good breakfast. Hot shower. Electricity. Kitchen with oven. Wifi. Swimming pool. There is a washing machine of 16kg. 4k to go by tuktuk in Guatape. Cleanning every day. And very good staff, friendly and prevenent. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

This is probably gonna be the most popular overlander place of Guatapé!
Beautiful, quiet place. View on Piedra El Peñol. Good location between town & El Piedra: both 20 minute walk. Parking is big enough for couple of rigs on the private parking between hostel and swimmingpool. No sign at their entrance but it's the stoney/gravel road up starting in front of the school. No height restriction. Tents & pets are welcome. Kitchen well equiped, with oven. Down their property they have a little "beach" and you can do kayaking (20.000 p/h, 50.000 p/d) and wakeboarding.
Price 17.000 p.p. (kids for free). We also got breakfast, not sure if that's always the case. Highly recommended.
