Description

Local food restaurant by Ulices Guido and his family. Cell phone: 89575522

There is also a small shop for beverages.

Ulices also has a starting campsite (started since sep 2018)
We did put the campsite on iOverlander as well. It’s about 1500m from this restaurant.

To find this place: It’s circa 150m from the main (dirt) road into the small village, straight on the right side beside the school.

Latest Check-Ins

We stayed with Ulice and his family for one night only, but had an amazing stay! They were super hospitable, keen to share their way of living, we had a lovely evening together until the rain interrupted us. Ulice also organised our drive to the trailhead to get to the vulcano telica ($40). Unfortunately the weather changed once we were on our way up and we didnt see the lava, but it was still a great adventure!

We spent one night at the place of Ulices family. They are extremely nice and helpful. He showed us around the town and his campsite and his daughter taught us how to make tostones.
As we weren’t sure if our car would make it up the Telica he arranged for a friend of his to take us the next day for the sunrise.
Two of his daughters live abroad and he treats every visitor the way he wishes them to be treated far away from home 💛

I messages Ulices on WhatsApp a day before arriving and he responded the same day saying we were welcome to come.

We arrived at the house/tienda that his family runs, and we were greeted by his wife. She told us Ulices would be there shortly and gave us a bunch of delicious fruit in the meantime. So good!

Once Ulices arrived, he said we could stay at his house, parked in the parking area that is super large, or we could go to the finca. We stayed at his place and walked the 12 km to the volcano summit the next day. About 3 hours to get there, not bad.

Staying with Ulices and his family was an amazing experience. They are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. My girlfriend had a cold, and they brought a hearty breakfast over to the van in the morning. They shared their lunch with me and lots of stories. Even though my Spanish isn’t great, I really enjoyed getting to know Ulices and his family. They have such big hearts and are full of so much hospitality and generosity. Thanks for everything, guys! ❤️

Definitely stay a night or two here if you can. The town they live in is really cool and everyone is super friendly and curious to say hello.

Somos ciclistas.

Wonderful family and place to stay. Very excited to have cyclists and generous. We tired to buy lots of food from the store to help support this wonderful place. Hopefully the tourism industry improves and the restaurant can be reopened. If cycling from the North the road is sand but mostly rideable: riding 2.4" tires, my girlfriend with 2" tires had a tougher time but still enjoyed it. Heading South is no problem

if you want to hike Telica without a guide (definitely do not need one) and need a place to park or camp or leave bags...go here!!! this is the nicest family!! they own the restaurant which has amazing food as well (nica food) we ate here and then asked if we could leave our bags when we were doing the hike. we left our bags with them and then drove up to their friends farm which was only about 3km from Telica to start the hike and left our motorcycle there. they really went out of their way for us and did not want anything in return. the family also has a campground area that you can camp or park at that's really simple and lovely. recommend hiking telica and sleeping up top! if you have a tent you can totally do this on your own without a guide and set up tent right at the crater (we did and it was epic) as long as it's not too windy:) you can find the trail directions on maps me

came here to do paid camping on the farm. he and his family insisted on just staying nearby in the house because it was already dark. nice peaceful spot in town, bit annoying with the roosters. he refused to take money from us so we tried to support his business as best we could. really hope tourism rebounds and his business can open up again. he runs great tours to the volcano telica so try and support him if you are planning to go

We stayed two nights at Ulises family house, he helped us doing Cerro Negro volcano tour, we were in his family truck, a really amazing and unforgettable experience. Then we saw his finca which is a tealky good campground to rest and relax but we didn't sleep there as his realky friendly parents invited us to eat their local typical food. There is not mobile service but all other travel amenities are included. Don't miss it!

This is Ulice's house, restaurant and Pulpería.You should cone here before going to the Camp site 1.5km away. He's a lovely kind man.Very hopitable family.I arrived here on my bicycle late having come of the Pan american highway the wrong side north side.So i dragged and pushed for 2.5 hours through 12 kms of arroyo soft sand.Coming from Telica would've been easy but i didn't know.He said i should sleep in my tent under his restaurant which is closed off season, but actually he's open all year.So please come by anytime. He'll sort you out somehow. If you want food,he can cook or provide info on the Volcan hike etc. He's super obliging.
