Description

Near a river in the rainforest.

You have to follow a dirt road from the exit of Puerto Jiminez. Follow the sign for "Reserva Chimpol". Easy river crossing, better with a 4-wheel drive. (we did it in the dry season.)

there is a place for one or two vehicles along the river (be careful in the rainy season) or there is another place in a higher position under the trees, opposite this spot.

if you continue the dirt road you pass in front of a farm and after that, the road is undrivable. But you can continu by foot, cross the river and there is a little trail that goes inside the rainforest. very gorgeous!

There are several beaches up and downstream from the river crossing. Make sure you have an escape route in mind in case the river rises suddenly.
Only one wider river crossing to get here. Dirt road was in perfect condition when we visited.

Great Place, crossed 3 rivers in 3 season all doable.
Made in our 23 ft with 2WD pretty easy.
meanwhile you could drive further until the next river crossing as they did build a bridge.
For the small hike just cross the river walk until the small wooden bridge and it comes on your left. Around 3.5 km return trail.
No cell service.
Quiet and safe spot

Report Check-In

Beautiful place to camp. Beware, locals call this place 'Rio Culebra', because of there being a lot of snakes, among which a lot of 'Fer-de-Lances'. So putting a tent up here is not recommended.
Also, don't follow the road down more, it goes into the river by a VERY steep downhill road - you won't get back up and getting stuck here makes your day challenging to say the least (talking out of experience ;-)
