Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
It used to be a community area very wild (in the good way) but since some years (2019) private investors arrive and build a big infrastructure.
- if you just come to see the « falls » they charge you 60 pp plus 40 for the car. Which is almost the price for a day in a Namibian national park … it’s way to much expensive for what you see, the popa falls are not a fall just a rapid. So save some money and don’t go.
- if you decide to spend the night there they charge you 300 pppn. It was too much for us so we did not stay but if you are willing to pay this amount you will have a private ablution, access to a swimming pool and a bar with a view on the river (ask for camp 1 and 5 to have a proper view on the river and a deck, camp 3 is not as good but the same price…).
The good point is the local San employees who are very interesting and share a lot about their culture.
Beautiful spot right at the rapids/falls. Camp spots are great. Nice bar area and pool to relax and the views are spectacular. Definitely worth a stay.
Report Check-In264pppn. We liked it and the pool is situated directly at the Popa falls/ rapids. Liked the luxury sites with own deck better than the ones away from water.
Report Check-In😘😘😘❤️it’s a very nice campsite and a beautiful pool on the River . We eat a Pizza in the Restaurant.
Report Check-In😍😍❤️ it’s a very nice campsite on the River. Pool 🏊♂️ very cool. We stay one night here
Report Check-InQuite a nice place, site overlooking the rapids with a private deck at our site. The falls are really just rapids. Told it was 240N$ pppn. When we left, we were charged 265N$ Pppn ( VAT added) This was our only experience of American style pricing when tax is added after. Drinks at the bar were also expensive- left a bad taste. Glad we only stayed one night.
Report Check-InHighly recomended!
wonderful campsite with Kirchen, electricity, privat bathroom with hot shower, viewdeck overlooking the okavango. Restaurant and Bar directly at the Popa Falls. New Swimmingpool.
Excellent breakfast, snacks for lunch in Order three course dinner. Very helpfull, friendly and hospitally einer, who knows everything about the suroundings. Again highly recommended!
Nice Camp sites with grass and thatched roof . We stayed on Camp 7, - Bathrooms newly are newly build. Toilet and shower in one. This might be irritating if more than two people camp at one camp site. 220 VOLT Plugs available , all in a mint condition. The sites are tranquil and well managed. Highlight is the a sun upper on the white sand at the Popa Falls. Here you are virtually at the falls. Definite best spot to see the Popa Falls. The camp is nearby the Buffalo and Mahangu Park. Great daily excursions into the parks
Report Check-InFor day visitors the price is 50$ per person and 30$ per car. The popa falls are more like rapids in the river than a waterfall.
Report Check-InA nice campsite situated right at the Popa Rapids. Apart from one “Standard Site” which is not at the water edge, the other “Luxury Sites” are on the river - some with nice views. The ablutions are very basic, rustic and mediocre. At NAD200 ppn for the Standard site and NAD240 ppn for the Luxury sites it is in my opinion way over-priced and over-rated for what you get. Resorts on the opposite side of the river offer MUCH better value for money.
Report Check-In9 camp sites on Kavango River. Pvt ablusion, Donkie for hot showers, flushing toilet, green grass, kitchen with running water & thatch roof, 220V power. Braai fireplace on site.
Ice & wood available at reception.
Sundowner bar on white beach sand 200m down river.
Super friendly & helpful owners & staff. Highly recommended.
Lots of space for Big Rigs.
Report Check-InUpdate: As written before, nice place, very helpful owner and staff. Still 220 p.p. for the luxury campsite.
Report Check-InVery nice camp with grass and big trees giving shadow. Some of the sites having also wooden decks. People here are very frindly and helpfull.
Report Check-InVery nice campground, large sites with private shower and toilet. The boiler is heated with wood. We had a site with view on the river with the rapids.
Report Check-InAbsolutely amazing spot worth every penny and more the campsite 1 has a stunning view beautiful shady trees and having your personal kitchen and ablution area is a treat.. lots of attention to the small stuff
Report Check-InA San community, very friendly staff, camp luxury site #1 is the best, no Wi-Fi but good MTC signal, accept credit card
