Description

[Moderator: road quality information has been added to OpenStreetMap]
IMPORTANT: This is our experience on the 26th and 28th of February 2019, the state of the road might be different under other circumstances.

Turn to the left here on the way without asphalt and follow googlemaps (turn to the right on the fork somewhere after the bridge). We took this road at the end of rain season and it was fully ok! You have to cross a couple of waterfalls and the rocks are lying on the road here and there, but nothing as terrible as written about another roads on the way to Hidroelectrica. At some point the way gets pretty narrow but doable with any kind if vehicle (we saw even a tuktuk haha).

Comida boa e barata.

Road is in good condition. Made it to hidroeléctrica in 1,5 hour with a Toyota4runner.

Drivable for all kind of vehicles. We are in a 2wd van and had no problem to drive this road within 1h from santa maria to santa teresa incl. photostops. The road is in a good condition, no washboard, just some holes from time to time - NO WORRIES, just go!:-)

Report Check-In

the road is ok, no drama.
It tooks us 50min driving safe from Santa-Maria to Santa-Teresa on a sunny day with our camper-van (no 4x4 required). May be more difficult for big rigs..

Well .. it’s possible to take that bumpy road with a 2wd but only recommended if you like the thrill. Sometimes it’s only 3,2m wide and locals don’t drive nicely. Took us 2 hours from sta Maria to sta Teresa. Would not do it again (but we have to :( In Santa teresa we left the car at the campground (10 soles per night) and took a taxi to Hidroelectrica (30 soles). cheaper shared taxis only between 6am and 2pm. Policemen said better not to drive to Hidroelectrica because recently there were tire slashes.
