Description

Very nice Hotel and Restaurant, run and owned by Nicaraguan-German couple, Ivánia and Michael. They will allow RVs (max height 3.3m) and tent camping on site, but we didn't ask their rates. We chose to stay in one of their beautiful clean hotel rooms for 36$US including two breakfasts. Not exactly cheap, but with warm water and upscale linens and towels, well worth the price. Good food at reasonable prices in the restaurant (crisp and yummy veggies here!).
Both hosts are very knowledgeable about Nica and Costa Rica, and the place is a good spot to see wildlife, which they will help to spot as well. Wonderful place to stargaze, very little light pollution!
No on-site beach access, but the beach is close by.
Very good place to be early at the border crossing into Costa Rica from Nicaragua.
WiFi in the Restaurant area only.

A wonderful, serene, peaceful spot near the lake to ease (or prepare for) the trauma of a Nicaraguan border crossing. It’s only 20-30 minutes from the border, but what a spot! The couple who own it will also prepare you an amazing meal (breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner). The rooms don’t have AC but there is a fan. Hot water in the showers, and decent internet. There is very secure parking right in front of the unit for my motorcycle, I think their parking lot can handle vans and trucks, probably nothing too big. Make sure you take a walk to the lake, and be “serenaded” by the howler monkeys that live nearby.

Super friendly German/Nicaraguan couple running this place.
We pitched our tent in their grassy garden. You can use the shower and toilet of the hotel rooms.
Paid 7 USD per night for two people in a tent.
Cheap beer and they also have a restaurant.
Just 15 mins from the border to/from Costa Rica.

Nice place to relax before or after the border crossing. I paid 21 dollars for one person, via Booking. Good food at the restaurant, small portions for a ciclist though…The lady was very kind and helpful.

We stayed for one night here and very much enjoyed our stay. The owners are super friendly and the food (can be made vegan/vegetarian upon request) was very tasty. In total we paid $10 USD to park for the night (2 people sleeping in our pop up roof) and $15 USD for dinner (2 entrees and 2 sangrias). They do also have rooms available but we did not ask for a price. They let us use the toilet and shower and fill up our water tank (though this was only possible because we have a filter system for our water- the water from their hose is not drinkable otherwise). We saw monkeys and fell asleep to the waves from the lake. We would highly recommend this place and would stay here again in the future!

very nice, very quiet place. super nice owners. Michael is from Penzberg, Bavaria, Germany and Ivania from Nicaragua. You can walk upstream a creek and come to a mini waterfall. we swam there and saw spidermonkeys, howlermonkeys and lots of butterflies. there is also a restaurant with good prices, very good food and very large portions. the margaritas were great too. There are 2 very nice dogs and you can also buy fresh eggs. This place is highly recommended. 10$ for 2 in a van

We stay here for two nights bevor traveling to Costa Rica with our 7 m mobile home. We enjoyed the rest, the many flowers and the light breeze. Ivania is a great hostess.

Beautiful eco lodge across the street from Lago Nicaragua. The land and plants are beautiful and the food is delicious. We camped with our Ford Transit camper van. There is no longer a height restriction and they can accommodate big rigs. The whole road to get there is a smooth and well maintained cobblestone street. There is a military checkpoint to access the neighborhood because there is an unofficial border nearby. It is to control people that sneak through that border. I mention this because they are very serious about their job and it is legitimate. Nothing sketchy here. Show them your tip and visas and you’ll be fine. That being said, it makes the neighborhood super safe. The bathroom and shower is spotless. The rooms are very nice too. If you feel like sleeping in a room, you won’t regret it.

Ivania and Michael are super welcoming and were able to accommodate us by making our meals vegan. They have three dogs. Not aggressive but they will definitely be curious if you have a dog too. We can’t recommend it enough. Looking forward to our return.

Be sure to park at the very bottom of the hill, just past and to the left of the entry gates.

Perfect place to stay before or after the border crossing. The owners are very cordial and helpful and the surrounding of the lodge is full of wildlife (we saw about 20 howler monkeys feeding in the tree right next to the terrace). We had a great time here!
