We spent 2 days very nice here. Good walks. Lots of animals: wild money, sloth, a farm with pigs. Crocodile in the river. Beautiful.
Report Check-InWe started our Costa Rica journey at Agi and Guido's place and ended it here. Super nice place. Thanks!! 5$ pP for camping
Report Check-InAgree with previous comments. Food awesome, definitely worth treating yourself. Wildlife fantastic. My husband was off feeling 100% when we visited and Agi was a wonderful support. 100% recommended!
Report Check-InRun by a Swiss couple it is the most beautiful place surrounded by nature and animals as sloths, monkeys, crocodiles, birds and of course some domestic animals as well. Everything is really well maintained and as clean as we know it from Switzerland. Thanks to Agi and Guido!
Report Check-InWe spent two pleasant nights here after crossing the border from Nicaragua. After almost no services in Nicaragua, it felt very comfortable at Canas Castilla to have a spacious RV-type park, with lots of space and all of the things that we needed to re-charge. We saw quite a bit of wildlife on the finca including monkeys and sloths. It’s pretty shady and cool where we parked which was nice, but not great for solar charging. The owners offer plug in for an extra $5, but we didn’t use it. We paid $5 for laundry (do it yourself) and there is ample space to hang and dry your laundry under a covered area adjacent to parking. The kitchen has potable water (free) that you can fill your water tanks with, and also a gas stove with six burners for cooking outdoors. The showers are cool temp, but they feel great in the warm weather. I took several short showers each day to stay cool. We paid $5/person/nt and it really felt like it was worth it! Would strongly recommend!
Report Check-InA wonderful Start in Costa Rica. Prices still correct. Very nice owners and a lovely property. We even have been lucky to see a sloth on our first day in Costa Rica and some spider monkeys munching on mangos 😀.
There are 2 walking paths that are nice to do. The 2 dogs on the property are very friendly and like to guide you on the walks 😃
Everything as described. Excellent place before /after crossing the border. $5 pp.
Report Check-InAwesome place in the middle of the forest. Super relaxed, great trails through the forest. We saw monkeys and lots of birds. Nice camping spot with good facilities (showers, toilets, sink, drinking water, washing machine, stove) Super friendly hosts from Switzerland.
We wanted to stay one night only and in the end stayed 3 :-)
5$pp/pn
Vraiment beau spot.

Beautiful peaceful place to rest. The domain is vast. There are 3 hiking trails where you can observe spider monkeys and sloths. There is a stove and a sink to do the dishes. Cold shower and toilet with flush. We paid 6,000 colónes for 2 adults and 2 children. Really beautiful spot.
Report Check-InWow, this place is awesome! We came here in the evening after crossing the boarder from Nicaragua and we felt like we’re in heaven. The Swiss hosts are so friendly, there are chickens running around and it’s so peaceful, exactly what we needed. It’s only 5$ per person per night. We had no phone reception but the wifi reached to our car. There’s a big washing machine for 5$ where we could even wash our towels and linen, it’s really huge and perfect. You can dry your clothes outside under the roof. I even booked a horse ride which was so beautiful. The walking trails are great and we spotted many monkeys. The two dogs are so sweet and joined us on the walking trail. Perfect place! :)
Report Check-InWow! This place is amazing and only 15kms from the border with Nicaragua at Penas Blancas. The cabanas are very comfortable and in beautiful surroundings overlooking the river (where a crocodile lives!). Lots of wildlife from monkeys to sloths to reptiles. There are self guided walks through the Finca and long the river. The food is delicious and there is loads of it… you won’t go hungry! There is no choice, you get what is cooked but good value for what you pay and what you get. We paid $75USD for the room including taxes. The was for cabana with kitchenette, fridge, coffee maker, hot water showers and wifi, patio area overlooking river and a hammock. Breakfast was $10 and evening meal $18 for 3 courses and homemade juice.
Parking for our motorcycles felt very safe.
Beautiful place to stay before or after border crossing. Lots of spider monkeys and saw two sloths. Nice trail to walk and a good diner (though a bit expensive but you get starter, main and coffee and cookies after)
Clean bathroom and small cooking area
$5 pp/pn. Can pay in dollar or colones
Lugar incrível. O proprietário é um senhor suíço muito prestativo. pagamos USD5.00 ppn. nosso veículo tem 42ft (quase 13 metros)
Report Check-InAwesome place, one of the best we stayed at in Costa Rica. Everything clean and hosts extremely nice. They put a lot of energy in the description and maintenance of the hiking paths around the property (the paths have numbered stations with descriptions and explanations) which I found very remarkable.
The wildlife you can see every morning right from the campsite is awesome: spider monkeys (did not see them anywhere else in CR in the wild), sloths, birds, butterflies, iguanas and if you’re lucky the crocodiles in the river.
We don’t have a pet so can’t say anything about that but we found the dogs (2 German shepherds) super nice and friendly at least towards humans!
Report Check-InAbsolutely loved this beautiful spot. Lots of spider monkeys and we saw the sloth too! We brought our (submissive) female dog and she was fine with the two Shepards. They are quite dominant and were sometimes playfully cornering/herding our dog. It was fine, but make sure you introduce your dog(s). Also, crocs in the river, so no swimming here for you and your pooch. Happy travels!
Report Check-InAmazing first stop in CR! This is the most organized place we’ve seen on our whole time since Mexico, they even provide rubber boots and a tree guide for your nature walk! Saw lots of monkeys and a sloth! A great deal at $5pp in CR.
Report Check-InGreat spot, before (or after) crossing the border. Very clean and perfect support for washing (even with dryer) etc. Real nature with a lot of animals and birds. Perfect trails prepared for walking in the surrounding. Thanks for staying with you Agi and Guido!
Report Check-InStayed here for a couple nights after crossing from Nicaragua. Paid 6USD per night for our camper van. Two adults and one child so very reasonable price. Beautiful grounds and great for kids with all the farm animals around. Monkeys roam the tree above you regularly but the best of all... we saw a sloth!!!
Report Check-Inwhat a nice little spot with so much wildlife immediately visible from camp. howler monkeys, spider monkeys, sloth, and trogons visible without even leaving your car. but be WARNED... this is also a tick sanctuary! the first day I pulled at least 10 off of me. and the second day during a hike I must have stepped into a nest because there were no fewer than 200 on me! wow. I saw more ticks in one day than I have seen in my entire life up to this point.
Report Check-InGreat spot after the border for 5$ pp. I also stepped into a ball of very small ticks. There is no Lyme disease in Costa Rica and they can be washed off in the shower. Still not the nicest feeling 🤣, but pura vida eh?
Report Check-InWe had a perfect stay after the border. Agi & Guido are warmly hosts. We saw a lot of monkeys, crocodiles, sloth - a great jungle experience. We had one breakfast and one dinner and the food was excellent. We miss nothing!
Report Check-InAs described, cozy nice place, with sweet Swiss owners. The WiFi is fast enough, I think they upgraded it.
Sleeping at night is quiet, trucks are making noise at day time (mostly) However, I was awaken by a rooster in the early morning, but I have my earplugs so was ok. Did the walking trail, nice view over Vulcan.
Nice services and convenient location for the border. Trails are well marked and easy to explore. Nice clean bathrooms and ok WiFi. Didn’t stay long because of the dogs and our cats, really not pet friendly for this reason. Also quiet loud at night, lots of trucks air braking, which we didn’t expect.
Report Check-InExceptionally beautiful place to camp and great property to explore through the trails. Well kept toilet & shower block, potable water tap and fast WiFi (no cell coverage).
Unfortunately we could only stay one night, because the dogs definitely don't play nice with other animals (we have a cat that's fine with dogs if the dogs are fine). The risk of your pet getting injured or killed is real, both dogs are into hunting.
Report Check-InEverything as already described. Super clean and very nice (typical European). Delicious breakfast, great organized. Monkeys and even sloths everywhere. Unfortunately, we did not release our dog, the shepherd dogs besieged our camper. If we had to go out with our dog, their dogs were leashed. Not so nice
Report Check-InNothing to add to previous comments, we stayed here to prepare for the border passing to Nicaragua, Agi was very helpful, perfect place to stay and very friendly hosts!
Report Check-InAfter the pandemic, business is slowly recovering again. THE place to spent a few days (15 days for us) and enjoy the amenities described bellow (same pricing). Agi organizes tours to Nicaragua also.
Highly recommended.
Came to stay for a night, such a beautiful place we stayed two.
clean showers, toilets and cooking area. Washing machine $5 a load and undercover drying lines.
fantastic well marked trails with description leaflet to take with you. Horse riding from the finca, $20 for 90 minutes.
Lots of animals, including Spider Monkeys in the trees above and around the campsite.
We ate here last night and the food was wonderful.
nothing bad to say!
We stay during Corona Pandemie for about 4 month. Agi and Guido the owner of the place are very, very friendly and helpful. We stay with group here celebrating birthday and somithong else with great Pizza and grill events. If you have technical problems they help to find a solution.
Report Check-InGerät pläne to stay !!!
We are here in our 7th week
as border are closed.
Great people, great location, great food, great nature experience and great campground with ev.thg.
Very nice Find a to stay. Clean cold shower and restroom, WiFi, good laundry machine, electricity, very friendly owners, several hiking trails and delicious food. It is in a beautiful garden with lots of animals. Very quiet when the monkeys are asleep
Report Check-InAll was said, place magnificent we there have past 3 days very pleasant, the owners are very sympathetic and professionals. Has not miss especially if you arrives of nicaragua, change guarantee.
Report Check-InSuch a beautiful place. A lot of wild animals around. Very quiet and safe. Still $5 pp per night. You can’t beat that price in CR. Owners are very friendly and their daughter too. Their two dogs are so sweet but the Great Danes is getting old and she is not friendly with other dogs. Some trails you can hike and watch the wild animals. Enjoy !
Report Check-InWe enjoyed our stay here for 5 days very much. Very family friendly. The kids were fishing on the river. Nice trails. Many animals.
Electricity, fast wifi, good and clean bathrooms.
As described, very friendly owners and super place to stay

DOG PEOPLE
-we have a medium sized female dog and she was attacked, the attack required a vet visit, stitches and antibiotics.
-we were permitted to camp and all was fine where we were where the owner let us camp.
-The male Shepard is sweet and playful and was great with our dog.
-the female Great Dane attacked our dog when we were out walking the trails, about 25 min walk away from the business.
Non dog people, the place is nice and the owner is sweet. The dogs shouldn’t bother anyone without a dog.
Report Check-In$5.00USD per person each night. Quiet and peaceful. Hiking trails you can go on and enjoy. Friendly owners! Clean bathroom and toilets. Weak WiFi but at least it was something. A small kitchen you can use. You will not find better for this price! Recommended!
Report Check-InPerfect place to regain your sanity after crossing the border. Very quiet and peaceful. No size restrictions at the entry gate or the 2 large parking spots. Only 2 larger spots for over 30 ft rigs. Prices have not changed since last post. Good food. They have 2 large dogs but they can be tied up for when you want to walk your dog, no problem. I will be staying here again when I head back north. Parked here with a 25' Class C towing a car.
Report Check-InNice place, when you want meet monkeys and farm animals. Internet was very slowly, shower and toilet clean.
Report Check-InLoved camping here! Only place in CR we could hike with our dogs! Great stop before the border- they can process your CR exit fee!
Report Check-InWe stayed here for a whole week because it is such a nice place. The owners Agi and Guido are very welcoming and showed as everything on to Finca. They have three beautiful hiking trails where you will see heaps of animales (Spider and howler monkeys, sloth, agoutis, crocodiles, scorpions, countless coulorful birds like the Aracari, snakes, horses, cows, toads, butterflies, many different insects,..). The river that flows through the Finca is beautiful! The amenities are in perfect shape. You will have nice showers and a bathroom, tables to sit, a big gas powered oven and stove (we cooked nice pizza), additional lights for the camping area, electricity if you need it, a big washing machine and a place to dry the clothes (even with a roof). They offer Wifi and the resraurant is very nice (beer for just 2$). Agi even makes very good goat milk and cheese as well as very good bread. They price (5$/p.&n) is very reasonable for the offer. You can even use the kajak or borrow the fishing rod to pick out a nice river fish. Monkeys and sloth come very close to the campspot, you will see them all the time. Highly recommended!
Report Check-Inmust visit! its a bit like you visit a cool national park but only pay for a great campground. highly recommended. stayed 4 nights.
Report Check-InThe Finca is a nice place to spend the night or even a longer time. Price for camping is still 5$ pP, and we did laundry for 5$ a load. Beware of scorpions in the cooking area. We encountered two big ones!
Report Check-InAll the positive stuff said before is true, very recommended! Perfect spot for before or after the border.
Report Check-InGood place as described. Dinner is set with no other choice but the taste was really good. The owner also borrowed us boots for hiking as there is one trail with river crossing.
Report Check-InAll positive comments are accurate, we enjoyed the hiking in the trails and our dog loved them. Facilities are very clean, camping spots could be better as the grass was a little grown up. We definitely recommend this place before or after crossing into Nicaragua. Lots of vegetation and animals around. Very nice and helpful owners.
Beautiful property as described. Regarding dog friendliness: the owners have two dogs, one old very sweet Great Dane and one German Shepard puppy. They got along well with our dog. However you should still ask upfront if it’s ok to bring your dog. Just send them an email.
Report Check-InNice people, good place to camp. Toiletts, cold shower, tables and a surprisingly good washing maschine next to the camp area. Yes, WIFI is slow but works okay for Whatsapp and this is in the hand of the phone company.
When you ask you will get eveything. There are a lot of wildlife. They still lost 2 dogs to the Crocodile. The sapos are poison, too. So, no free running for guest dogs.
Facing an endless list of good reviews we did not even hesitate to consider this as our stop after a tiring crossing at the border. From the first moment we arrived we sincerely tried to figure out (understand) the reason of (why) so many good reviews... The male owner is not at all a kind and helpful person. The parking lot is on the grass and away from the facilities. The internet signal is very very weak, sometimes even no signal at all, and definitively do not reach the parking lot where the parking is allowed for overlanders. If you have a 4-legged friend traveling with you, do not even consider leaving him free on this property. The food is very expensive, as will be a constant throughout all Costa Rica. If your stay there would coincide with an excursion, all the care and attention will completely be focus on them, we - two of us, overlanders’ Vans, arrived at the same time with a Swiss excursion and we were completely ignored. This place definitively would not be a place of our election, or a place that we would recommend when compared to all the other beautiful places we have been fortunate to experience...
Report Check-InLovely, reasonable priced, place to hang out for a couple of days, wash clothes 5$ a load, hang to dry in area provided. We were able to park in a sunny spot to charge our solar panel. Great chatting with the friendly owners and watching the local wildlife. We cooked dinner in the fabulously clean stove and oven and filled up our potable water tank from the tap. Wifi is almost non existent .Too bad the wifi is sooooo crappy.
Report Check-InReally nice place to camp. Very tranquilo. We enjoyed it very much. However WiFi is terrible and there really isn’t a kitchen to use, just a gas stove, but the hosts were nice and let us put something in their fridge.
Report Check-InGreat stop. Didn't see anywhere between the border and here to stop for groceries so we went to La Cruz first and came back up here. Nice stove top range we could use along with potable and non potable water sinks. Rather large amount of ants in bathroom/shower area but I guess it's the outdoors. Took the white/red hike in the morning - lots of monkeys, a lizard or two , birds. Wifi super slow. Friendly owners.
Report Check-InIt was exactly what we needed after a frustrating border crossing with Nicaragua. Nice camping in the jungle next to a river where you can observe crocodiles, lovely hosts, amazing breakfast, quiet and clean.
We relaxed here for few days. Really recommend.
Really highly recommended! So quiet and peaceful (just be prepared to be woke up by hawler monkeys and others ;)), we could have stayed here for days if we had time! The facilities and the hikes are really great, and the bread was the best for months !
Report Check-InVery beautiful, clean , nice trails to go around an explore, lots of wildlife. Washing machine for 5$, not the best wifi
Report Check-InFantastic camping spot shortly after the ordeal that is the Nica/ Costa border crossing. $5 per person. Beautiful place with hiking trails and wildlife. On our first day in the country we saw a crocodile, spider monkeys, howler monkeys and a sloth! The restaurant is a bit expensive but the camping area has a stove, dishwashing station and even potable water! Showers and bathrooms are also close to where you camp.
The owners even offered to bake us a fresh loaf of bread in the morning for $2.
They will allow dogs but you MUST keep them on a short leash by your vehicle. And be prepared, their massive dog will come around....
Make sure to walk the trails and keep an eye out for all sorts of birds and monkeys :)
Report Check-InGreat place. The hikes are wonderful to see wildlife. Infrastructures are perfect for overlanders. It's the best place we had since pasaj cap and maybe better even though it has no lake to swim. But don't rely on wifi, it's only working sometimes.
Report Check-InIt's a wonderful place, we really love it! The street to it is in a bad condition but don't let you stop!
Report Check-InBeautiful finca close to the Nicaraguan border. Prices are 5$ per person + 5$ for electricity. Nice toilets and showers. Easy to spot monkeys.
Report Check-InVery nice property with wildlife everywhere. We woke up each morning to howler monkeys and the rooster. Excellent potable water with great pressure. Very shaded, so solar did not charge. Ran off batteries at first, but plugged into electric the last night to charge up. $5/per person, per night. Electricity is now $5/night additional. Great border stop. Terrible wifi, and no cell data. Very nice hiking, saw lots of spider monkeys. Watch out for the mean turkey. He will chase you
Report Check-InGreat location as described. We are a little over 11 ft tall and had no problem getting in. There are 2 dogs on site that are very territorial with other dogs, but sweet as can be with human visitors. Hiking trails and overall atmosphere was very pleasant.
Report Check-InPlan on at least a couple days here. Super convenient to the border but too much to do for just one night. Lovely property. Good food in resto.
Report Check-InMany locations on ioverlander are enough to spend a night cheaply and give you some facilities. Rarely we stay at one that is an amazing destination in its own right. This Finca is beautiful, the hiking is great, owners friendly and facilities waaaay above what we have all become used to. It's so close to the border so we weren't going to bother staying but are so glad we did. Recommend!!
Report Check-In$5 per person, $5 to use washing machine and ample lines for drying, $7 per person for breakfast, and $16 per person for dinner. 3 onsite trails with good vistas of the surrounding area. Friendly livestock, dogs, chickens onsite and on the trails. We also saw a sloth, spider and howler monkeys, toucans, and a crocodile. All meals are homemade and delicious. Very friendly owners and international guests.
Report Check-InBeautiful established campground. 5USD per person to camp with our tents, they even helped us get a head start on our border crossing and they are able to accept Costa Rican exit fees. Excellent breakfast for only 7 USD. Wildlife everywhere.
Report Check-InWe were charged $5pp and $3 for power to run AC. $5 to use washing machine. Nice bathrooms and chill area right beside site. We walked the trails but other than howlers and parakeets, saw little. Wi-Fi slow when it worked and it was best in reception/eating area. No Claro reception.
Report Check-Inperfect place to stay! After here you don't need to go to an other Nationalpark. we saw more animales then before. the food absolutly delicious - specialy the bread... owners more then friendly and helpful.
Report Check-Inwe went to this place twice as its so nice. camping right next to the bathrooms with big clean cold water showers and toilets. washing up area and potable water- highly reccomend filling up with drinking water for your time in costa as its crazy expensive. the washing machine is $5 per load and they also have a dryer for $5. great spot to stop and relax and even do some hiking. as others said there is lots of monkeys in the trees and crocodiles in the river.
Report Check-InPerfekt place to relax, see animals and eat gerat food with nice swiss host.the are happy if you see animals and help to find them.the have a book exchange.
Report Check-InVery nice place as said before if you are crossing the boarder. The people are very nice and welcoming. You can see sloths hanging in the trees if you are lucky. They have a small kitchen area with a sink only and also clean bathrooms with showers and toilets. The Wi-Fi is only available at the reception area but worked fine when we were there. It is also possible to wash your clothes here, a machine (15kg) is 5$. They also have a tumble dryer. Electricity hook up was also no problem. It is also very convenient that you can already pay the tax for leaving CR at the camp and get your receipt. They can also provide you with the form for entering/leaving Nicaragua. We payed 5$ per person per night.
Report Check-InAgree with all the other comments, it's a great place! Very nice owners, beautiful compound, lots of wildlife around (monkey watching while having breakfast). We did one of the hiking trails which was nice but now in the rainy season parts were so heavily vegetated we got lost at one point.
Report Check-InA lovely spot to stay a night or two after crossing into Costa Rica. Very friendly owners. $5 per person/night with very slow wifi, clean bathroom with a shower, and 3 super well-marked hiking trails on their property! Tent friendly and quiet at night.
Report Check-InNice place to relax after (or before) the border crossing. Beautiful grounds, 3 hiking trails. We did the red trail, muddy but lovely. Saw monkeys. Just before we left Agi pointed out the tree with a sloth mother and baby. So cute! Camping US$ 10 (slow hardly exciting wifi, wonderful clean and spacious toilet/shower combinations with TP), DIY washing 1 load US$ 5, meal at night US$ 15 per person (steep, but with Bratkartoffeln and eaten together with owners Agi and Guido). Two dogs, 1 huge (might be a horse ...).

Report Check-InPerfect place. Kids played with the Legos in the beautiful library all evening. Could stay longer. Highly recommend !
Report Check-InA really nice farm not far from the main road. $10 a night including wifi (slow), water, showers, bathrooms, and electricity. ($5/day for use of air condition in your rig) Very green and quiet. Right next to a river with monkeys and other furry creatures hopping around the property. Showers and bathrooms were very clean. There was also a washer machine for clothes in the camping area but didn't ask about the price. They have 2 dogs that are nice but the dogs are very territorial about their house . We kept our dogs away from the house and only kept them in the "camp area." We had no problems at all.
Report Check-InWhat a beautiful place! If you want to eat Dinner, you have to tell this Agi,so she can buy enouth Food. Sunday is Pizzaday,so delicious, baked in a woodoven! It's definitely worth a visit, see other descriptions. We've been there 4 times
Report Check-Ingood place! quite, nice. slow wifi, laundry if you want. can see animals: monkeys, perezoso, farm animals. 10$ night motorhome and 2 adults and 3 children
Report Check-InAmazing place, favorite in our trip!
5$ pp. You also get access to a huge area (68ha) where you can see all kind of animals (we saw more than in the national parks in CR).
A dream for everyone who loves nature.
There is a washing machine, one load 15kg=5$
Incredible oasis! Amazing animals (sloths, crocodiles, monkeys!), people, and hiking trails. Camping awesome.
Report Check-InSuch a have so close to the boarder. Would definitely return if in area. Great food and people.
Report Check-InGood place for overnight, very calm. Clean bathrooms. A must do when leaving or entering CR. Price still USD 5 pp. a lots of animals in the property. Wifi not so good.
Report Check-InWARNING
Shortly after arriving our small dog which was on a leash standing beside my husband was attacked. The owners Great Dane came from behind attacked our dog without warning or provocation causing multiple wounds. My husband was also bit in the face. The veterinarian spent almost three hours cleaning and stitching our dogs wounds. After the attack the owner told us there had been previous incidents with their dog.
Very nice campground of a Swiss couple! Clean showers, great breakfast, WiFi, washing machine. A perfect place to relax. They have several short hiking trails where you can learn about the local vegetation. c5300
Report Check-InThe only campground we chose to repeat on our trip so far! $5 USD/pp/night. Swiss family: Agi (speaks English) and her husband, Guido run a beautiful finca with all amenities. One downside: WiFi has never worked well for us there.
Report Check-InGreat spot right after the border crossing. No restaurant when we were there so bring your own food. Good fast free WIfi. Clean bathroom but cold shower. Owner very nice but no English. Only German and Spanish. Lots of animals (even a rescued baby sloth) and beautiful hiking right on sight. We saw at least 25 spider monkeys on our hike. Two large dogs on site but didn't seem aggressive to other dogs. Electric extension cord available too for power from bathroom building.
Report Check-InGreat!. One of those place you do not want to miss. Beautiful Finca, friendly Swiss owners, spacious campsite, clean toilets and showers, they are building a communal kitchen, walking trails on their property, lots of birds around, a crocodile in the river, a baby sloth they rescued and wild sloths as well. And a very good price. We recommend going here (for more than one night)
Report Check-InAll other comments are pretty spot on. Bring your own food as the "family dinners" only happen if there are others staying when you are. Even then prices were high $14 for dinner $7 for breakfast, not sure what they include. Was able to fish the tilapia pond but having only ocean tackle I didn't have any luck. Beautiful farm great walks and friendly owners. Perfect place to stay before or after border with Nica
Report Check-InExcellent stay, highly recommended! The swiss owners have thought of everything. Electrical hookup, clean bath & showers, wonderful hikes on their property. No kitchen, but they will cook meals for you, if requested for $ (details on their website). Tilapia farm on-site, we bought a big one and fried it up at our site. Yumm. A must-stay in the area. $10 per night for 2 people.
Report Check-InOur second day here, and we've already seen countless Howler and Spider Monkeys, crocodiles, adult and baby Sloths, and several toads the size of a Catcher's mit. Super friendly, wifi, electricity, and clean bathroom/showers. Great way to spend a day or week upon entering Costa Rica. I doubt it was 30 minutes from the border. There are 2 dogs on the property, but they're very friendly. We paid $10 per night for 2 adults and a pup.
Report Check-InFor us the best place during the last six months: beautiful surrounding and wild life on and around the Finca, very clean facilities, WiFi, electricity, laundry service, great food, unbelievable friendly owners! We saw a sloth with its baby, monkeys, the crocodile, ...
Report Check-InVery nice place. Their two big friendly dogs are females. We kept our dog well away from them at our camper and had no problems.
Report Check-In(Admin note: Coordinates have been corrected and old place deleted.) Actual co-ord for this Finca are N 11.12147 W 85.59414. The correct location is shown as a question mark on the map only about 12 k from the border. This is around 50k away from the correct location down a very rough road. Note to self read other peoples notes before driving miles in the wrong direction!
Report Check-InFantastic hosts, great evening family style dinner. Walking trails were a nice way to while away an afternoon. Well worth a couple of nights. $10 Usd per night for two people.
Report Check-InGreat hike around the property. Friendly owners. Very clean bathroom & shower. Meals are expensive, at set times & family style. Ask to see & feed the baby sloth they rescued, and look for the crocodile in the river!
Report Check-InFantastic Finca with camping possibility: wildlife, swimming at the bridge, boat and peddles available, horseriding, 3 marked walking trails, play room for the kids. Good chance you met other overlanders here. Must stop here when comming from or going at Nicaragua. Potable water, wifi, clean toilets and shower. House made wine. Recomanded! We paid 10 USD (2 adults, kids doesn't pay).
Report Check-InWrong position in the map. (Admin note: Coordinates have been corrected.)
Report Check-InWonderful surrounding, clean bathroom , friendly owner, indoor playroom for Kids , Library , horse riding possible, nice walking Tours, little boat to use, definitely a place to stay longer than one night.
Report Check-InBeautiful finca with clean facilities. We enjoyed the walking paths. Warning: very loud rooster in the morning!
Report Check-InCharged us $5 just to park, not using their electric or bathrooms. They have wifi now (it's slow) AND you can pay the $7 exit tax here if you are going to Nicaragua after your stay. FYI, they have 2 huge dogs that may not get along with other dogs. We kept our dogs away because theirs were aggressive and know their Great Dane has attacked another traveler's dog.
Report Check-InPaying $10 for two people with electricity... Nice little compound with friendly Swiss owners with lots of wildlife.
Report Check-InCabañas and campground at La Cruz held by the swiss Agi and Guido. Cabaña 50 USD per night, camping 5 USD per person. Nice finca at the River with hiking trails, lots of animals and horse rides. Excellent stop after boarder crossing from Nicaragua.
Report Check-InBeautiful working farm, nice hikes on property, monkeys play all day in the trees above you, clean bathrooms and showers, kitchen sink area for washing dishes, great family-style dinners available every night. This was one of our favorite camping spots of the entire Adventure. – CONS: No internet – 5 USD/person/night
Report Check-InPaid $10 for 2 people, which was refunded after their Great Dane attacked our dog and I broke my wrist during the attack. If you have a dog, make sure they tie theirs up when yours is outside, even while next to your camper.
Report Check-InWarning: if you have a dog, check with the owners that they will keep their two dogs secured when yours is out. They have a Great Dane and a German Sheperd. The Great Dane attacked our dog, even though we didn't take her near their house--we had her on a leash by our camper getting ready to go for a walk. I broke my wrist getting their dog off her.
Report Check-InThe house belongs to the Swiss Agi and Guido. Very many wild animals. Monkeys, sloths, fat toads, tarantulas, etc. crocodile. Private bathroom, electricity
Price: $ 10.00
Report Check-InWohlfühlplatz Fam at Sutter from CH. Clean toilets and showers, electricity can be obtained from the cabanas, water, laundry, library. Very quiet. U $ 10./Night
Turn of the Pan American Highway (10 km from the border with Nicaragua) turn left into gravel road through the village then take the wooden signs about 2km on the slopes of Finca follow.
Report Check-InNo trip through Costa Rica would be complete without a stop at Agi and Guido's place - the Swiss emigrants. Conveniently located close to the border. Huge farm with beautiful hiking trails. Howler and spider monkeys in the trees. Bathroom with hotel standard, cold shower. Superb dining at the restaurant (12$ / person including drinks). We camped along to the road which leads to the cabanas.
(US $ 5 / day without electricity, $ 10 / day with electricity. We have paid in US $.)
