Iraq
Right after the entrance gate is a new parking area. Very quiet! Toilets, shower and water are in a building next to the entrance. They close the gate at night and had no problem with us camping. The Pershmerga guards were very friendly and offered us to sleep in there building.
The cave itself is a short hike uphill. Entrance is free. Unfortunately not much to see because all the excavations.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Didn't camp here but nice place to visit, for free. Active archaeological excavations at the moment. They found several additional bodies.
Report Check-InWe visited the cave (free and not much to see but still interesting) and then asked permission to stay for the night since it was raining and didn't want to camp in the mud (we are in a 2wd van). The Peshmerga are all very kind and gave us food, water and tea. Toilets available, didn't see any shower, maybe in their quarters but we didn't enter.
No cell phone reception.
We didn't camp there, but it's definitely worth a visit. The view from the cave is amazing. The Peshmerga was very friendly and offered us tea.
