Description

Lovely quiet place with some grass for pitching a tent or parking your rig facing the sea. Locals take their dogs to the beach there in the mornings and evenings. If you're lucky you'll get to meet Brian and his dog Jack who'll take you for a kayak tour around the cove ;)

This area of Common Land is a gem of a location. There are no facilities currently on site. The locals who frequent this beach are lovely and friendly in the true Nova Scotia spirit. The summer of 2022 has seen this location experience a high volume of camping traffic with many of the negative outcomes associated to such a high volume of camper traffic, including litter, campers who are not self-contained who have been using the surrounding woods in a non "leave no trace" manner when pooping in the woods, leaving behind exposed feces, toilet paper, as well as feminine hygiene products. If you camp at this location, which is completely lawful, please do your part to leave the area in a more pristine and cleaner situation than you found it. There is a sand road that runs parallel to the beach, but it is advisable that this access road not be used or blocked. the best access onto the site is at the north-east end of the beach. The locals who frequent this area in the morning, afternoon, and evenings. park their vehicles side by side in the small field immediately off to the left of the access road that runs horizontal to the beach. Please do not block this area and prevent the local population of beach goers from accessing the limited parking on the field. The local volunteers who take pride in this community gathering spot are beginning to experience volunteer burnout from cleaning up litter left on the beach, in the woods, and in the field. Many community volunteers spend money out of pocket to mow the field, empty out the trash bins and generally keep the area in the pristine condition that it currently is in. If you a camp here and enjoy the wonderful experience that this area of Nova Scotia offered you, please consider making a small monetary goodwill donation to the Broad Cove Community Hall ( 7147 Hwy #331 Broad Cove, Lunenburg County, N.S., B0J 2H0) to support continued maintenance of this Community Common Land, and possibly the installation of porta-potties on the site. Fair Winds and Safe Travels.

ps

There is a very small number of locals who do not support campers using this public common land area due to campers leaving litter and trash behind. As I indicated previously, it is lawful to camp on this public land, however it is important that campers are respectful of the land to ensure continued support of the majority of the local community who do support campers enjoying this location as much as they do. I have provided a monetary goodwill donation to the Broad Cove Community Hall to support the caretakers of this common land.

Great spot, beautiful beach! Dog friendly, trash bins on site. No toilet, limited cell coverage.

Lovely spot right next to the beach. There were 4 or 5 other campers/trailers with us. Most locals were very nice but one did start arguing with someone over whether people could park there for the night.

What a nice place. The beach is small, but not very crowded. We stayed one night here and had no problem. It was very quiet. But please, when you go in the trees please pick up your toilet paper that’s just disgusting to leave it there!

Nice and quiet place to park by a cove. Only saw 1 person walking the beach. Pretty views and grassy area with a stone firepit.

Spent a quiet night there with two other campers. There was no toilet, only the trash bins.

Just my van. Very quiet. Parked to the side and arrived late so as to not attract attention. Nice quiet night.

Spent two great nights here. Wonderful location. Locals very friendly, very popular dog walking beach. There are waste bins located onsite and a portaloo just a few yards away which was immaculately maintained. We left a donation at Broad Cove Hall as we felt it was the right thing to do. Highly recommend a stay here...but please respect the local community and keep things tidy and leave no trace.

Pretty nice spot. Nice beach. Please respect this, and all sites, lest they disappear. Leave no sign you were ever here except perhaps posts on blogs... Thanks to the locals who posted the signs.

Very quiet place with lovely view. Clean pit toilet maybe 100 meters away.
In the morning a guy told us that not everyone in the community wants people camping here, be he said it's fine, he was fighting for us.
So it is fine to stay, let's just make sure we keep it clean and keep the noise down, so they have no reason to put a no sign up.
