Description

MODERATOR NOTE: Place closed because camping is illegal here. Signs posted and enforced.
....
Located on the right just before arriving to Sunset Beach. there are two spaces for Buses/RVs where big rigs/trailers should fit and cca 60 spaces for cars. No signs of no overnight parking (6/13/21: There are new "No overnight parking" signs, but when I spoke to the gift shop staff they didn't seem to care and mentioned someone camped in the lot a few nights ago) but we asked the owner of the big shop next to it for permission as the whole cap seems to have metered parking and parking rules everywhere. She was OK with it but mentioned the police patrol the area and she doesn't know how it'd go with them but we had no issues and it was quiet besides the few occasional cars passing by. The lights of the mini golf are turned off by night.

Latest Check-Ins

Nice little sandy beach with a view of the SS Atlantus wreckage. Quiet at night. Shiny new "No overnight parking" signs, but staff at the gift shop didn't seem to care and reported that a car camped there a couple nights ago.

Report Check-In

Free parking with 2 dedicated RV spots and lots of other car spots. Gets full around sunset. Great place to catch sunset. there is a nearby walking trail about 1/2 mile around a lake that loops back on the beach. pets aren't allowed on the beach April through September but saw lots of dogs (and one cat). quiet all night and activity started up around dawn with fishermen arriving. good Verizon signal. there is a small restaurant, a souvenir shop, and a mini golf. no trash cans so pack out is a must.

Report Check-In

Very quiet. Empty parking lot on this very cold and windy first day of April.

Report Check-In

We got here about 5pm last night to an empty parking lot. We heard a few cars pull in overnight but they didn’t stay. Otherwise, a nice quiet spot with ocean views. In the morning, we picked up a fair bit of trash. Leave it better than you found it! 👍

Report Check-In

Just got here but seems quiet, clean, and I feel safe so far...lol.

Nicely kept parking lot in the Higbee Beach Wildlife Management Area, had two RV spots. We arrived late last night but it was too dark to see anything and there was no one to ask about overnight parking but we stayed and had no problems, it was very quiet.

Beautiful place on the bay to watch the sunset. Stayed two nights, parking lot is very quiet and peaceful EXCEPT- there are some young kids that party in the woods adjacent to the lot and were there blasting music until 12am one night. Not sure if that’s a daily thing. Otherwise it should also be noted the side of parking lot closest to the beach floods pretty bad if it rains.

Report Check-In

We arrived last night. An rv van was already parked. quite but could hear the waves. very nice.
