Started off pretty much exactly where the pin is but as people cleared it became a bit quiet and we felt more comfortable moving west along the road to where there were more people camping. Good night sleep, no issues.

Report Check-In

Set up camp with KOP rooftop tent halfway down the beach road in a lovely secluded spot midafternoon. At 8pm, a group of three police officers asked us to move closer to town due to a standalone incident in late Nov that involved a couple of tourists camping there with a similar setup (robbery at gunpoint resulted in a fatal shooting). The police patrolled the beach until 11pm, and we never felt unsafe. Love Dominical surfer/hippie/yogi vibes and being able to walk from our campsite into town! Recommend Fuego Brewery & Coffee Roasters and Mono Congo Café.

Report Check-In

Great spot. Cool chill surfer town and the surfers hitting the waves are cool. You can pretty much pick your level of solitude by determining how much you head south down the beach road. After speaking to a local about the recent incident with a tourist, I elected to move my very secluded spot which was at the end of the road to across from the bar. It closes at 9 so it was no issue. The beach can get packed during the day but everyone clears out at night so don’t be worried. Cops patrolling nonstop.

Report Check-In

Many places on the beachparking between the trees. We stayed one night and felt save. The beach is not the best in the area, but great for surfing. Nice place because you easily walk into town (nice food & cocktails at Fuego!). Recommended

Report Check-In

WARNING: THEFT!

Someone opened the zipper of our tent and was rummaging around our stuff while we were sleeping. Ran off when we woke up. Stole a watch. Luckily nothing else.

Report Check-In

Excellent place the local people are very nice highly recommended! 😊

Report Check-In

We hace been 1 month in this beach, there is so many spots in the beach under the trees and palms shadow. There are more spots in the side of the Baru river with really clear water. Bath and shower in coco Restaurant for 1000c. We can put our little market with the local markets and it was so good! Police pass a lot of times and there were no problems. Hightly recommended!

Report Check-In

Great spot. You have a lot of space if you keep driving. Under the trees so nice shade, beginner and advanced surf.

Report Check-In

Perfect spot right on the beach under the trees (shadow).
Hot during the day but fresh at night.
If you are lucky, you could see the sloth living here who is very active at night !

Report Check-In

Place as described, we had a quiet night. Maybe it depends on the day of the week but we saw/heard nobody all night.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for 1 night on Friday.
Nice village and atmosphere.
Crowded in the afternoon but in the evening quiet.
BUT: in the middle of the night groups of people arrived. Scavenging for wood all over the place to make campfires and stay awake all night.

Arrived on a Sunday pm, there were a lot of people. We managed to find a superb spot in the shade with direct access to the beach. In the evening, most people leave after sunset, but there are several people who stay to make a fire or camp. Nothing too loud for the 8 days we were there. Nice easy and intermediate surf. Don't expect to be alone, it's Dominical :)
The river is pleasant for rinsing off, but be careful, it seems that at high tide the crocodiles come to feed...

Report Check-In

Free parking next to the beach, we stayed one night in the car in front of la playa restaurant, lots of places to stay! There were some other cars staying the night. Very quiet. Beautiful rocky beach.

Report Check-In

Stayed here one night. Quiet at night and felt saven. Als free wifi at One Love Hostel at the beginning of the beach.

Report Check-In

safe place, facing the ocean, arrived by night no problem

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Stayed here for two nights. Plenty of spots available along the whole beach most are covered by trees. Just need to arrange with day visitors and some of the artisan vendors who set up along the main street. Town has a really nice and chill vibe. Visit before its lost..!

Report Check-In

Nice shadow place for the night with rooftop tent. There were several campers (tents, vans). Police drove by all the time, never said anything. Paid 500 colones for a shower. Nice breakfast at the small soda in dominical with awesome coffee and selfmade orange juice. Greatest sunset we've seen so far! :)

Report Check-In

Stayed here two nights and enjoyed the sound of the waves. Bought drinks at El Coco and used their toilets. Asked the police if it was OK to stay here and they said near the kid's playground is good, but just be careful and don't leave things unattended. Bought groceries at Mama Toucans in town. A bit pricey, but great quality produce and variety. First time we found gluten free bread in months!

Report Check-In

a lot of spelace on the parking next to the beach. crowded during the day, but quiet at night and slept wel. 2 others camping here. police patrolling regurarly, it was fine camping here.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for one night. Lots of space available. Facilities (shower and bathroom for 500 colones) close at 6 p.m. (and open at 8 a.m.). We asked in Coco's and in Tortilla Flats at about 6:30 p.m. for a shower. But they said, it was already closed. Actually, Tortilla Flats have no shower. So we ended up showering with our rooftop shower on the beach (which is not too bad though). Just after we went to bed, someone knocked on our car. We turned on the lights and opened the door, but nobody was there. A bit scary. Some people walked around at about 1 in the morning. Seemed a bit strange, but they didn't do anything. We got groceries at the supermarket (Super Dominical) on the highway (five minutes drive from the beach).

Report Check-In

We stayed for two nights and felt safe. There was another overleander who stayed there for 2.5 months and nothing happend at all. Nice place for swimming and surfing. A lot of nice restaurants within walking distance. The police shows up several times at day and night.

Report Check-In

tranquilo para acampar y pasar la noche.

Report Check-In

We have stayed here for 5 days with no issues in front of the beach very safe as it’s patrol by police all day. Lots of space for big rigs as we camped with our 27ft camper

Report Check-In

Stayed here for two nights. These are nice spots right in front of the ocean. Quit and we felt safe. You can use the shower or the toilets at the coco restaurant for c500 pP. You have very good cell phone reception.

Report Check-In

We ate at Coco restaurant and they then let us stay the night on their parking for free. Indeed, at night it was a bit hard to find the right spot without being under a coconut tree. Felt safe, no facilities though after leaving the restaurant (but very good food).

Report Check-In

Great place
Spent 2 nights here. The restaurant very good and lovely people. Shower cost 500 colons.

Report Check-In

Good and quiet, specially during COVID times. Stayed a week a little farther to the end of the road. Someone shook tested the car for alarm on my second night, but didn’t try anything else once I turned the lights on.
Don’t leave anything out and be sure your car is well secured as it seems like they’ll try their luck. Strapped the front doors from inside and forgot about it. I got security tint what gives some peace of mind in this case... Maybe in front of Coco is safer, as it’s closer to the police station. Used shower and restroom at Coco for 500 col each. Wi-Fi upon consuming from their restaurant/bar.

Report Check-In

A little slice of costa rican heaven. Dominical is a beautiful little tropical town with a beautiful beach and good surf. The camping is great!! Free, right on the beach, shade and sun. The beachfront/camping area goes almost the whole way in front of town, so many spots to choose from. All quite level as well. Locals come down to utilise the space in the day time, but leave after sunset and you have the beach to yourself. Everyone is really friendly and nice down here. Police drove by very regularly- maybe 6 times a day or more. Very safe. Enjoy.

Report Check-In

As described. Nice beach campsite. Make sure you put all of your stuff away at night especially on weekends. Someone was checking out our campsite in the middle of the night.

Report Check-In

Very nice place and safe, we sleep here 2 night without problems.

Report Check-In

great spot at the beach BUT take care of your stuff. stayed 4 nights and in the last night somebody stole 2 swim suits and my flip flops. also stole bikinis from another overlander

Report Check-In

As described before, nice parking spot for sleeping almost on the beach. There is a Mini super where you can buy pretty much everything you need super close, a surf shop and if you pay 500 colones you can use the shower and the toilets of the restaurant Coco. Ask for their wifi, you will get the signal pretty far for the restaurant.
Very nice to wake up and see the ocean with the surfers 🤘

Report Check-In

Spent 2 nights here, very nice and quiet. Feel safe.

Report Check-In

Camped here several nights. Great spot, good WiFi thanks to cocos. Make sure you spend some money there. Banos across the way. Beach bonfires and friendly little town. Great beer at fuego

Report Check-In

This was a decent place to spend the night and nice and close if you plan to visit one of the waterfalls. Coco WiFi password works and we were able to use it nicely from being parked up outside (sorry coco!)

Cool town with plenty of bars and shops. Check out Fuego bar for home brewed beer and great settings.

Report Check-In

Still secure free and wifi Works from restaurant. There are salemen hanging towels and souveniers which is not nice but at least they don't disturb. Beach have black sand and waves are fun.

Gracias y seguro sobre la playa. Wifi del restaurant coco sigue funcionando con mismo password. Hay vendedores de toallas y souveniers pero no molestan. La playa es de arena negra y olas divertidas

Beautiful place to stay. It’s quiet at night and some good surf in the morning. We felt safe the entire time. We had no problems to fit under the trees with our truck camper.

Report Check-In

Hermoso lugar, tranquilo, sombra y buena brisa. Nos pareció seguro, frente al mar, el WiFi sigue siendo el mismo

Report Check-In

We stayed across from Cocos restaurant with our rooftop tent. Police on motorcycles drive by regularly, they were ok with us pitching our tent opposite Cocos. Cocos does not let you use the toilets when you're camping on the beachfront. Payed toilets further down the street.

Report Check-In

During the week it seems to be the perfect beach spot to relax, go swimming and/or surfing. We stayed here only one night in our small van in the charming town with nice locals. Parked in front of Cocos Restaurant, had some drinks and used their fast WiFi. Password still the same ;-)

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot right in front of the beach. Very calm at night. Nice shade. We used the bathroom at Coco's (500C per use), showers were not available. The staff was not very nice, they wanted to charge us 11,000C for the camper and electricity, which is ridiculous considering that renting a room costs 10,000C.

Report Check-In

Amazing spot right next to the beach. Literally feet from the sand. No bugs. Plenty of trees for shade. We pulled right up next to a palapa and had cover for rain and sun. Some restaurants, bars, mini markets and surfer hotels nearby and some tourists and surfers wandering about. There are plenty of spots to choose from. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Nice spot directly at the beach. Lot of surfers during the day. Quiet at night. Policestation close by. They even let us fill our watertank.

Report Check-In

pasamos una noche muy tranquila, en el lugar corre una brisa super agradable!!!

Report Check-In

We stayed 4 chill nights with a few other overlanders. Cocos was never open to use toilets when you really need it first thing in the morning. I walked around and the little store down the road has a public toilet open in the am. I just asked if I purchase something can I use it. There is some current and waves, but if you know how to swim you'll be fine to go for a fun swim in the waves. Cops drive by a lot. Felt safe, but also didn't leave anything out at night.

Report Check-In

Great place! Easy access for all rigs. It's ok to swim or to surf. Rip currents are a danger, but the lifeguards are very active to inform and protect. Just bathing or surfing in the ocean is not a problem at all when you don't go too far in. At sunset a lot of people gather on the beach. We boondocked for 7 days. Happy! A little supermarket, restaurant and bar is available. Please vist Coco. We can still use their WiFi.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot to wild camp in the town. Busy with beach visitors during the day. Don't leave your stuff out due to the crowds. Park carefully as the coconuts trees are very tall and when the coconuts fall they will do some damage to you or your rig!!!

Report Check-In

Really nice flat beach camping. Lots of visitors during the day but quiet at night. There is a big festival in Uvita and people say that this beach will be packed in the coming week. Lots of restaurants nearby that offer wifi. Beware of falling coconuts. If you have a big rig you might have to park on the side of the road just because the beach is busy with day use folks and their cars. Lots of surfers but the tide is strong so beware.

Report Check-In

This is a quiet little beach town and we camped right on the beach. password hadn't changed. happy to post this ..;)

Report Check-In

Plenty of room under trees along beach for pop-up truck camper.
Wifi password doesn't work now. Will try to get new one.
Somewhat of a steep lip to get up under the trees from the street.

Report Check-In

very beautiful place with coconuts. a police made a security. very quite.

Report Check-In

Free beach camping under trees. For bigger rigs it's a bit harder to find a good spot.

Report Check-In

It is possible to camp al along the beach. There are bathroon and shower to 500c (U$1). The beach is dangerous to swiming and there are a lot of stones .

Report Check-In

Beach camping under palm trees, restaurant with showers and restrooms across the street, WiFi password: We have a strict no Wifi passwords policy, and are going through places added and have to manually remove these passwords. Would you be so kind as to not share that info on the app? We, the Team and the owners of these establishments will greatly appreciate it.

Report Check-In

Quiet beach. Mostly empty at night. Police cruise by every few hours. We felt safe.

Report Check-In

Wonderful place to spend a night. We feared that this would be a party place, but it was very quiet and pleasant. The beach is long and there is plenty of space to park along under the trees. There are fire pits (self made) and police drives around at night. Free.

Report Check-In

Free camping on the beach in Dominical. Wifi and toilets available at Tortilla Flats.

Dirt road to the beach.

Report Check-In

Right at the beach, shady under palm trees. Regular police presence - we always felt safe. Toilets and showers can be used at the attached campground "Los Cocos" for 500 Colones (the campground itself was closed due to the heavy rains and muddy grounds).
