Description

We stopped by here at 4:30 for a tour, but they are only open from 9-3. We asked if we could stay the night in exchange for taking a tour in the morning and the owner, Vincente, said it was ok. He told us we were welcome to take a walk on the property and use the bathrooms if we need to.
The next day we took a tour for 100mxn per person. It was in Spanish only. Afterward we spoke with Vincente and asked if we could put the place on iOverlander: one night's stay for a tour. He said ok, but that he would like only quiet people who are respectful and keep to themselves (he called his security guard that night to ask if we were any trouble). Also, he said that visitors should say that they are iOverlanders who are recommended by Lyndsay and Braden (the couple from Canada).
The place is beautiful and quiet, with nice dogs, and clean bathrooms. There were electrical plugs by the bathrooms, but we didn't try them. There are a LOT of mosquitoes between 6:30-8pm. People begin to show up right at 9am, so you should have your stuff cleaned up and packed away before that time.
If you stay, please be respectful of Vincente's property, and his generosity and for letting people stay over in exchange for a tour. We would like him to not regret his decision to allow people to stay, and we don't want our own reputation marred by inconsiderate travellers.
We have a GMC Savana campervan, so similar vehicles should be fine. If you're in a tent or large RV, I am not sure if that will be fine, but I don't see why not.
Chocolate is tasty and organic, and Vincente is chatty and speaks great English. If you get the chance, chat with him.

This chocolate hacienda is very nice, tour is very interesting and chocolate very good! You will see and do by yourself all the process of fabrication from flower to chocolate. At the end the degustation is the must, you can taste lot of this precious chocolate! If you are 2 price is 500 pesos and if you are 3 or more price is 200 Pesos for adult, 150 for children and 5 Pesos for children under 6. Last tour is at 2:30 PM. At the end of the tour we asked to the owner if we can stay, we were alone with the guard. They give us access to the toilets, outside tables of restaurant with ventilators electricity lights and water. The owner proposed us to do a walk of around 4km in his hacienda before sunset, it was really nice! I recommend this place!

Still works, be sure to arrive right before all the workers leave at about 18:00. Otherwise the gates might be shut. There is a security guard on the premise all night. The tour was OK, but the chocolate that they produce is amazing.

Stayed overnight in the parking lot with electricity and banos for free. Tour at about 8:30; cost 200 pesos/person. We were with a Belgian family who also spoke English. We had an Excellent tour with a very good English speaking tour guide who has only been there a few months. Chocolate tasting resulted in several bars leaving in the van with us.

Beautiful Hacienda with so many different plants, trees and flowers. We arrived around 15.00 and after asking could stay at the parking and join the tour next day. Heard monkeys and so many different birds. Stayed in our Campertruck but were offered to use the banos. Next day wanted to do the tour but instead of 100p.p x2 were asked 500p. probably because we were the only 2persons. Waited in the chocolateshop, so much choice!the price has changed is now 500 p. percgroup and after4 is 150p.p.p.but it is definitly worth every peso. Had a wonderful and interesting tour.

Opening hours 9 to 4pm. Thereafter the entrance gate is closed. We could park directly next to the large eating hall, which is open and has large ventilators to create a soft cooling breeze. There are electric outlets in this hall, but the maximum current is around 2-3 amps, hence can only be used to charge a battery… There is also a sink to wash dishes.
The tour the next morning took almost 2 hours and was very interesting. Price 500p per group. Camping is free, but the owner has to give permission.
Clean bathrooms. No cell signal.

Merci

Amazing place to learn more about kakao and chocolate, tour for 100 ppp. We asked and were allowed to stay overnight at no additional costs. The owner and his son came to greet us personally, all very friendly. When the monkeys start to 'communicate' the night is over...
Please behave respectfully to keep this overnight-possibility.

Jep we did this. Arrived around 6pm at a closed gate, the night guard came and we explained the story above, he called his boss and then let us in. Really nice hacienda and quiet, a lot of vegetation obviously. Access to the bathrooms which are really clean. Next morning we took a tour with the first other visitors so paid only for the tour (100 peso’s per person) and nothing for the camping but ended up buying a lot of chocolate... It’s a real prosfessional company, lot of people working there (employees start showing up at 7AM). Tour took almost 2 hours in which you also get the chance to ‘make your own chocolate’. Really nice. Although I felt a little bit weird to ask about the camping, especially because it was for free if you take the tour, I’m really happy we stayed. It was a great experience, felt safe and friendly people.
