We had an extra day to kill before going to San Antonio and decided to spend the day on the beach. Sand conditions were great. The wind was strong all day, but we parked so as to provide a wind break and had a great evening on the beach by the fire.
Report Check-InWe stop at #98 to camp for the night. That spot is on the sandy road ... Next day, the ranger advised us to go closer to the sea and that we can sleep after pole #99 to 103. There is no #104. It is forbidden to camp for the night in Mustang park beaches.
Beautiful beach, no permit needed if you go to the left when you enter. Sand was very soft in some places and we almost got stuck, and high tide came up the full beach so be careful of getting caught in the tides. We stayed here four nights and after the first night decided to park where the beach is a bit wider where you enter from the road next to the toilets. We think the tide was unusually high while we were there, but would highly recommend going further south on the island for a wider beach if the tides stay so high.
Report Check-InStayed out here two nights . Loads of space. Great.
The permit was not in force as it was the end of the year, but will be back in force on 1st Jan do be aware. It’s only $12 for a year!!
