A little tired. Was expecting more tbh with the reviews I read here. Campsites were adequate with running water and power. Bathrooms left a lot to be desired. Could really use a good thorough cleaning. The bar was decent and seemed to be a hangout for your South Africans working in the area.

Thakadu is a fantastic place. I came here for one night but fell in love with the place and stayed 4 nights. It has a great pan that is normally full of animals right next to the restaurant, so there is always something to see while having a great meal. A nice variety on the menu which tastes fantastic.
In the heat of Botswana, the rooms are fantastic each with aircon that cuts the heat and a great place to hide out from the sun. Each have their own bathroom which always had hot water a good pressure. The rooms were clean, and each had a safe and a great view of the bush. Beds were very comfortable and made falling asleep really easy with the cool air from the aircon blowing down.
Wi-Fi works well at the restaurant and the pool there overlooking the pan is an awesome way to cool down with a drink while watching the animals come for the drink which is every morning and evening.
Good location as it is just outside of the town which makes it feel like you are really in the bush but also close enough to easily drive to the shops to pick up anything that you would need.
The service is top notch, very friendly staff with some great stories and very attentive to what is wanted and great source of stories about the area and the history of the camp.
Two cute dogs that are very friendly and for me too cute not to cuddle. They did not bark a lot and were quite at night.
The road might be an issue for some people in a small hatchback, still possible as I saw a few people arrive in one but more of a challenge, it a bakkie it is no problem.
The san bushman experience was really well done and very informative and fun going into the bush and learning some of the medicinal properties of plants.

Costs were (in Botswana pula) 140 for the campsite, 900 for permanent tent and 1100 for rooms.

Very nice camping with extremely friendly staff. I have been here four years ago my first time with my motorcycle during my around the world tour. Now I’m here with a 4x4
I can recommend

Best place in Ghanzi I'm sure, even though I didn't check out anywhere else😊 What makes this place is it's owners, crew and staff. I thought I'd just plow through Ghanzi, but ended up staying 2 nights :)

Very nice campsite and the restaurant is very interested ❤️ Pool was cold

Awesome Camp close to the main town of Ghanzi but feels completely secluded with peace and tranquility in the bush. Range of Accomodation at different prices from camping to Safari tents to chalets. Delicious and great value food & drinks in the main area. The owner Laurie is a legend, super welcoming and friendly, as are the rest of the staff here. Overlooking the waterhole with visiting game whilst eating breakfast was a total delight. Best camp in Ghanzi in my opinion!

Report Check-In

The only nice thing is the bar/restaurant. Awful and not maintained road, sandy places with braai stand, some have seen better times, ablutions not welcoming at all, everywhere signs of neglect. Seems nobody is really interested to receive camping guests.

Report Check-In

As described, but got the impression that facilities are in a state of decline. Taps were leaking and electrical fittings coming apart. Considering above, the rate should either be lower or campsite properly maintained.

Very nice spot, worth a visit.

Surprisenly nice place! The whole place is very spacious with a cozy restaurant /bar, swimmingpool, veranda with a nice view over a pan with all sorts of animals to watch. There is a little shop and activities to book.

Campsite, cabins, rooms and big tents to choose from.

Report Check-In

Great bar serving excellent food overlooking a waterhole.

Ablution block is unwelcoming. Untidy, not cleaned, no light in shower cubicle, must ask for hot water.

Great hosts. Great location in Ghanzi. A little bit runned down... But, hey! You're in real Africa here!

Report Check-In

Campsite is nice, big place with fireplace, electricity and some with water. But the ablution block is old and needs maintenance.
The restaurant and the terrace are great, with view over a waterpan with game, impala, kudu, Eland, ostriches, wildebeest, warthog...
Staff is very friendly.
140 ppp

Not a save place at alk! We got robbered there. No watchman at night. We were 7 cars and They smashed the windows of two vehicles while we slept in the roof tents.

Report Check-In

Spent one night at this campsite - rate was 130 Pula per person. Nice campsite but they are close to each other - fine if it is quiet.
The ablution block needs maintenance and needed cleaning.
WiFi was not working.

What a fantastic surprise to arrive to welcoming hosts, good food & wine and a special offer on a chalet so we parked our caravan for the night and enjoyed the pleasures of a chalet for the night. Definitely worth the stopover!

Go and support the Sans culture and people. They took us on a bush walk (leaving from the camp) and taught us all about what plants are edible and what they are used for and then put on a dance around the camp fire at night. They don’t still live in the bush but going to see them helps teach the younger people about their culture. It was definitely worth it. Also the game dinners were delicious!

Report Check-In

Very nice plots and good clean ablutions. Restaurant area is good too with decent WiFi and venison menu. Had a great stop over for one night. 140 Pula for 1 person+1 car. There is light and electricity included at the plots.

Report Check-In

Camping, bar and ablutions (hot shower just in one ablution block) are ok. (everything more picey)
We wanted to try that recommended food
and had dinner. Mains are around 120 to 200. Impala curry and Kudu Seeswa was our choice. The curry was nice (like beef) but the other dish was too dry.
But in total we would not stay again or recommend this place.
We asked the evening before if it is possible to do a laundry with washing mashine before going to the central kalahari. The staff made two phone calls, confirmed and promised that we can bring our laundry at 8 am. So we planned like that.
When we came in the morning the same guy told us that the owner/ manager? said now no.
When we talked to the owner she said: "Yes we have a washing machine but you can not use our facilities." She was very rude when we told that the evening before it was told to us different. On top she said that we can wash may be at the home of the staff who made the mistake. It is his fault and we have to figure out with him.
Very unprofessional and in that situation you could act in a different way.
We think there are nicer people in that area or better camp wild!

Nice rocky campsite with well equipped bar and restaurant. Waterhole next to restaurant to spot animals. Putting up tent only without pegs since the ground is rocky. Hot shower, clean ablution. Running water and electricity on each campspot. 120P pppn

Report Check-In

As described, very pleasant spot with small waterhole, slow wifi and ok ablutions. Cost is now 140 pula pppn which is a bit high. We ate impala and gemsbok on the restaurant for a different experience, all good.

P120 is expensive but hey, what can you do with such nice people, cold beer, slow wifi and a bit of company before heading into the Central Kalahari. Lots of game meat on the menu if you are a carnivore!

Weare planning to go to Ghanzi trail blazers. Unfortunatly they ask alot of money which we thought it is not valuefor money at all.

We decide to go Thakadu Camp, which is was a very good choice!
The place to camp was big, there was electricity, abulution block ( which are not clean and old but okay). The resaurant has a beautiful vieuw over a waterpole which has a spotlight to see the animals in the night aswell.

Staff friendl and funny, wifi is good.

Campsites look OK but we’d had a ‘day of it’ and decided to book into a room. Staff were very helpful and despite us arriving so late helped with check in and a meal. We were offered a wood cabin for 500 pula, which sounded pleasant enough.
I wish we had just camped. Two tiny single beds in a plywood shed, one bed full of ants with a nest under the mattress. Even aside from the ants, the sheets looked dirty and this was in no way more luxurious than camping. Unfortunately by then all the staff had gone and there was no-one to help. I definitely would NOT recommend those cabins, just a waste of money, but camping or the other rooms might be OK. That said, based on what we saw I suspect the other rooms are pretty over-priced!

Love this place! Lots of birds, springbuck and more. Stayed in our rooftop way at the end of camp. Quiet and secluded the way we like it. Food at restaurant is wonderful. Owners very friendly. WiFi at lapa is good. It is mighty hot at this time of year. There is a pool. No pensioner discount... probably the only negative for us.

Report Check-In

We paid 120 Pula ppn. The camps are well equipped, as mentioned. The electricity seems to be in a pretty bad condition. There are two ablutions. In the bigger ablution bloc, my wife a me got both slight electric shocks by touching the water taps in the shower and at the wash basins.

Report Check-In

Although we spent 2 nights here, we think it's quite expensive for what it is. Campsites are ok (bushcamp) with everything you need, but it's all a bit run down. Also the ablutions could use an update. Wood available for 50 Pula! Friendly people though and a nice place on the way to CKGR. We liked Ghanzi Trail Blazers better (which is cheaper as well!)
