Description

Great location on a hill with a view over Gembu. This guesthouse is inside the perimeter of a large hospital and was adviced by an immigration officer as being the safest place in town. It is run by Dan, an American guy who lives here. He and the guesthouse employees are very welcoming and helpful, a perfect place to get advice on how to get across the border.
Basic rooms with bathroom are 4500 Naira per night. Rooms are large, quiet and clean, no need for an airco in this area.
The restaurant serves cheap and tasty food, e.g. 500 Naira for beef and rice, 100 for an omelet and 1200 for swallow and chicken.
Staying here helps getting this great hospital funded!

In Gembu now, en route to Cameroon - we have some mechanical problems, hence the stay. Have to say ths is the most pleasant and relaxed place in town to hang out and eat. We're actually staying up the road - it just happened that way - however, I can recommend the beef pies 100%. (Dan if you're reading this, are you in town. Would love to interview you..?)

Nice place to enjoy the cool weather in a friendly, calm and clean environment. Rooms from 7000N. My room was big and in a good condition beside the bathroom which was little bit rundown but ok. Restaurant on side, they sell basic dishes from 600 to 1500N. No breakfast beside Instant Coffee or tea + omlette. WiFi is working on/off all the time, unless you really need it its not worth the extra cost. Electricity from 6am to 12pm. People are all friendly and helpful - enjoyed my three nights stay there!

Hi, This is Dan. My Wife and I are the Directors at GECHAAN. We have lived in Nigeria for 5 years. We appreciate the kind words that Michiel left. I wanted to give you a bit more information. Yes we do run a hospital on a secure compound and the Guesthouse is part of that. Income from the Guesthouse does help with the hospital. This is a great place to relax for a few days and enjoy the environment before heading down into the heat!
We have:
24 Hour Light
Hot water showers in the rooms
The elevation keeps the climate cool, no need for AC.
We have 23 rooms from N4,500 to N15,000. The larger rooms have kitchens in the room.
We can make wifi available for emails for a small fee.
If you call ahead our Manager will make sure a room is available. +23408144560572 or +23408025204354
