Description

We parked in this street of the Cherokee Park, which was close to downtown and dark/quiet enough at night. There was activity on the morning (Saturday) but it remains a good spot. No restriction board seen. Other cars were parked on street.

Toilets and trash cans in the park.

Yes this spot is perfect, and there are tons of parking spaces in this park. No one bothered me!

I absolutely loved this spot. I camped out here in my short skoolie for three or four nights. It gets a decent amount of foot traffic but is generally quiet. Coyotes howled outside the bus one of the nights and I was near deer everyday.
It’s a big, beautiful, heavily wooded park in a great neighborhood. I changed up where I parked a couple of the nights.
9/10 location.

This park is back open to vehicle traffic. According to city ordinance, it is illegal to camp overnight. The city laws say that all city parks "close" at 11 pm. That being said, if you are quiet and don't cause any trouble, you are very unlikely to get into any trouble. The worst thing that will happen, if you behave yourself, is a police officer might ask you to move along. It is very common for homeless people to camp in this park, sometimes for weeks at a time, and they never get into any serious trouble for it.

This is an awesome park with tons of space! Perfect place for a lunch or overnight. The scenic loop is a great walk to stretch your legs out. There is also tons of mountain biking/ hiking trails.

Open as of 5/22/22. Stayed overnight in the car and were the only ones there overnight. It was mostly quiet during the night other than distant cars. Heard some early morning dog walkers around 6:30-7am.

This scenic drive has been apparently closed for the last year to vehicle traffic because of Covid. Only foot traffic is still allowed as of 4/22/2021.

2/1/21 All roads into the park are temporarily closed. Unclear how long this will last.

Report Check-In

All roads into the park were barricaded and temporarily closed. I parked in an adjacent neighborhood.

Beautiful park, very quite at night. We parked on the street within the scenic loop and we were not bothered all night. 24 hr bathrooms, well lit.

Decent place for the night. Bathrooms could use a good cleaning however. Cars passed by until about 11pm, then quiet. Convenient to Louisville.

Great place to stay, some car noises, but overall fairly quiet. Bathrooms open 24 hours and nice place to walk.

Lovely park. I spent the night and wasn't bothered. Water fountains and bathrooms at this location.

This is a gorgeous huge park which seems to be really loved and used by the community. My friend and I showed up in our mini van at midnight and stealth camped, this cool covered picnic area and bathrooms were lit up and usable all night. We weren’t bothered by anyone and it was a great place to stealth camp in our van.
