Description

Nice camp spot, good for cyclists and campers (smaller). We had no trouble entering with a medium-sized camper; the gate was open. View of lake, island and volcano. Many spots for tents under the trees. Water in the lake is quite warm even after high season - enough for bathing :) Potable water from the stream nearby. Places to make fire, but also some rubbish. Seems to be crowded during summer. During the night we were alone. Road is close by, you hear cars, but they don't see you.
To reach that spot just turn left after mirador (50m) when you go from Puerto Fuy. You will see the gate, but you can pass because there is a big space/hole in the fence (enough for normal car). Everybody passes through it.

Valor for 2023 is 8000/person or 20,000 for a site if less than two. At the moment, water, toilets, and a sink, but no shower or electricity. looking like they're building out more on site.

close to road so a bit noisy, but a fantastic view and clean camping.

Report Check-In

This place is not free anymore. Fence and gate at the entrance. Bathroom was enabled. Price is CLP 5000 per person @2022 season.

Report Check-In

The issues with being able to enter with any sized vehicle are not true anymore. It also appears like someone is preparing to make it an official campsite as they are constructing a building that looks like it will have bathrooms inside and a shower on the outside. So possibly will cost something in the near future to use.

Anyways, arrived about 1pm and there were 2 groups camping there as well as at least three more vehicles. By 4, there were double that amounts and at 6, even more. Mostly families enjoying the beautiful day at the lakeside beach. I checked out the dirt road that goes off to the right immediately when you enter. The first 20 yards is filled with toilet paper confetti… disgusting to say the least, but a bit further up, there are actually some descent, shaded spots to camp. No water, but plenty of shade and quiet. I moved back down closer to the beach around 7 and people started leaving shortly after (sunset currently is after 9:15). Quiet night even with the road close by. Traffic dies down when the sun does!

If you have a family or want to go swimming, this is a nice place, otherwise I would look elsewhere (depending on where you are going, there is a great, quiet location on the SE corner of the lake near the entrance to the Reserva for the volcano’s)

We’re so glad we stopped in here! It’s a gorgeous and very quiet spot with probably the most beautiful view of anywhere we’ve stayed so far. The sunset illuminates Mocho-Choshuenco volcano and rises behind it, and the lake is peaceful and lulls you to sleep.

There is a gate on the right hand side of the road (coming from Panguipulli) around 100 meters before the mirador. It was open when we arrived, so we drove in and parked down next to the lake. There are some old fire rings and barbecue barrels; I imagine this place sees lots of use in summer! There were two families with kids here checking out the sunset when we arrived, but they left as soon as the sun went down. We had the spot to ourselves all night. Around 9:30 two guys arrived to go fishing.

All in all, excellent spot, easy to access (we didn’t see the trench others described), and a fantastic view of the volcano!

Report Check-In

You have to be a pretty tiny car to access this place. All vans cannot pass the trench. The passing point is only 1.5m wide with 2m deep trenches on both side. We couldn’t get in

Update: decided to expand the road by moving some rocks xD the view is worth it. Was so scary though a local tourist couple didnt see the trench and almost drove right into it. We were yelling and waving at them to stop. Remember to come out of your vehicle to look at it before crossing!!

incredible place
came here for a swim in the afternoon
pretty quiet and lovely views on the lake and the volcano. we regret we couldn't stay longer or camp here for the night... we had to move on.

incredible place, so far my favourite, we came back after huilohuilo.

as described before. on Friday night, we shared the space with a local family in their tent with two young children, and when we returned on Sunday afternoon the beach was pretty full, with 10 cars, mostly families and couples having fires, swimming in the lake, cooking etc., with a lovely atmosphere. they gradually all left as night came, and we had the place to ourselves again.

you can find some paths which bring you out onto an outcrop of rock to the right, where you can fish... or jump in the lake :)

Report Check-In

Very nice public beach. Empty during the night. Perfect spot! Easy access like descripted below.
