BLM-managed campground along the San Juan River with pit toilets, potable water, dumpster, picnic table and fire rings at each site.
$15/night. First come, First serve. 14-day max. 23 sites total.
-Loop A (Sites 1-8) OK for rigs under 22’ (sign says no trailers or RVs, mostly tents and cars set up) loop A is not a loop! It’s a tight dead end. If you wonder if you can make it, maybe walk down there first.
-Loop B (Sites 9-23)OK for bigger RVs & trailers.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Nice campground just off the road. Some Highway noise during the day, but not too bad. Nice spot for a couple nights. Still $15/day and a water spot as well.
Report Check-InGot one of the last spots along the road in loop B. It’s Beautiful here with all the fall leaves bright yellow. $15 night. Can pay cash via envelope or online. First come first serve. 14 day max.
Loop A is not a “loop” it’s a tight dead end. So if your questioning if there is space or you can turn around. Take a walk for it first.
Water spigots are not at each site. More communal spigots spread at key locations.
Report Check-InGood clean and basic camp spot next to the river. Only down side is the proximity to the highway, road noise dies down at night.
Report Check-InI stopped at this pretty little campground on my way to Capitol Reef. I had no idea it was here or what it was. I just saw the sign. $15 or $7.50 with a pass. There are two loops. We really liked site #12. It was shady and protected from dust storms. Also right by the petroglyphs. The campground is full of entertaining birds and lizards. Lovely place for a stop over.
Report Check-In$15/night - $7.50 with pass - payable in cash or cheque - US bank only. A quiet night.
Report Check-InBLM camping for a fee. Has water spigots that can be used by day users. Vault toilets, boat launch, nice designated sites. See photos.
Report Check-InStayed here for a couple nights before a river trip. There are a few sites right along the river that are nice. Cool petroglyphs. Toilet, trash, water spigot. Some road noise, but not bad.$15.
Report Check-Inafter hours of checking out spots on BLM. once again the campground provides the only shade within 70 miles.
we also got 5 bars of att LTE with weboost and 1 bar LTE without.
No mosquitos in June. Lots of bats at night. Cool to see
if your balsy enough to come here in summer , one of the spots with shade here is worth it's weight in gold
Report Check-InVery nice, apart from the mosquitoes. Even when camping as far from the river as possible (near the petroglyphs), mosquito pressure was high. I saw three different groups begin setting up camp, only to pack up and leave after a few minutes of suffering the swarm. Other than the bugs and some truck noise from the highway, it was fine, with well maintained sites and vault toilets.
5 stars if the mosquitoes aren't flying in formation.
