Great, cheap ($5 night) camping place just off Hwy 380, 35 miles east of Roswell NM. Yes, it's an Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) park, which means quads and motorcycles playing in the sand dunes. Best to hit it on a weekday but we're here on a Saturday and it's not bad at all. Three different parking areas, so check them all out if one is full. Our GPS locale is for the 2nd one in from the highway. Self-pay station and map are the first things you'll see coming in from the highway.
Appropriate for just about any vehicle IF you stay on the main road and packed areas. Otherwise risk getting stuck in soft sand.
No restrooms that we could find, but some covered tables, fire rings and garbage cans.
We had decent LTE cell service via Google Fi. Another visitor had no signal with Verizon.

Not my cup of tea, left, 60 miles round trip wasted. It was packed on Sunday at 6pm despite hot weather, teenagers riding at high speed almost though campsites, no privacy, there is only one private site but it was taken by s group. Probably loud night ahead. NO verizon signal. Left, wasted 3 bucks I paid too. There is a private boondocking area off very narrow road but needs 4wd and high clearance.
Report Check-Innot my cup of tea, left. Jam packed on sunday night in June, people riding at high speed though campsites, no privacy, NO verizon cignal. Left, drove 30 miles back in the opposite direction I needed to go to, so 6
Report Check-InPlenty of available spots, cheap 5$ to stay the night. Garbages not very well kept, toilets not bad. Accessible for a two-wheeler
Report Check-InAt the end of the road. Appears to have 2 single spots and one group spot. Pit toilet is very dirty. Doesn't appear to have been cleaned in a very long time. Campsites have garbage cans that were empty. $5 night. Very easy to get to and quiet with an occasional UTVs out on the dunes. We were here for the weekend and only saw 2 vehicles. Have the whole camp to ourselves. 4 bars Verizon, 4G.
Report Check-InBig sand dunes and about 8 spots for camping. There is soft sand here so I stayed on the road, and had no issues! Clean, nice bathrooms and quiet. There was no one here went I came. $5 overnight fee. $10 for buses
Report Check-InLove it, little bit of rain and cool night under the stars! I’m the only person here and the road is absolutely fine for my 20’ travel trailer.
Report Check-InWe had the entire place to ourselves on a Friday night. Flies were a bit much during daylight but the stars at night were breathtaking. Sunset was gorgeous too! Pit toilets are near the very last shelter in the back. I loved this site!
ONE THING: don’t use the coordinates. They tried to take me around a back way that probably wouldn’t have worked. It’s right off 380, just look for it on the left if you’re heading west.
Report Check-InQuiet place away from the city. Easy to get into with a large RV or trailer.
