Description

The best place to stay if you want to see the ruins with few other tourists in it. You can get up early in the morning before the busloads of tourists get there and then go back late in the afternoon when they have all left again. There is a small grassy area for pitching tents/parking a campervan that can get crowded at night. 70Q/pp

We think the best option if you want to camp 5 minutes away from the entrance. The hotel has a restaurant & bar, (we sat in the lobby area) had a beer & used their WI-FI. Parked our Truckcamper out to the left of outside dining area. Lots of tent camping and motorcycle camping. We stayed 2 nights. Bought tickets to 2 days entry, additional tickets for the sunrise tour and hired a guide to take us into the ruins. Ezequiel (WhatsApp +502 4100 4481 if you go in season you might want to ask him to take you to the “Lost World” rather than sit with 30 others that can’t sit still or be quiet as the jungle wakens.) he’s awesome.

Report Check-In

ok for 1 night, cost 60 q each person, no hook-ups, 10 q card payment charge, hot water didn't work at first for showers but got working in the end, showers have no dry area for your stuff, showers don't have shower heads, dirty and quite spartan, toilets a fair bit more modern, restaurant available, many puddles in parking area, coatis pass by in the morning was cool, wifi hard to reach unless in restaurant

Report Check-In

Its 60Q again.
Nice Restaurant/Campground. Clean toilets, shower was okay! WiFi good enough for WhatsApp.

Had a quiet night and got up early (5.00am) to visit Tikal. So many birds and monkeys in the morning!

Report Check-In

We camped here for two nights in the “backyard” of the restaurant. Price Q60 per person per night. It’s a small grassy spot. There are bathrooms and hot showers and (slow wifi) even in your tent. It’s also possible to camp or park your van at the parklot in front of the restaurant/hotel.

There is also a “palapa” with 3 little 2p tents which you can rent.

The food in the restaurant is good. They do breakfast from 07:00.

The entrance of the Tikal Maya site is 2 minutes walk from here.

17 km before this place is the main entrance of the National Park. You have to buy your tickets here. Q150 pp for tourists. Q25 pp for locals.
There is an ATM at the ticketbooth.
Just before the main entrance is a bigger Super24 supermarket. There are some restaurants and souvenirshops in the park but that’s it.

In front of Jaguar Inn is the campsite of the park itself. It’s a large grassy area with palapa’s where you can pitch your tent. We checked the toilets and the showers and they work normally.
There is lot of wildlife walking around on the field. Very cool.
If you want to camp here, you have to purchase your campingticket at the main entrance.

Report Check-In

Price was 60Q. WiFi was comically slow, don't bother.

Report Check-In

Very quiet , clean toilets . Food in restaurant Mediocre. Very convenient for entrance to Tikal Archeological site, only a few minutes walk. However, be aware that last November ( 4 months ago ) it was 50 qtz per person per night. In February ( 1 month ago ) it increased to 60 qtz and as from the 1st March it went up to 70 Qtz . with no negotiation or explanation

Report Check-In

When paying for your Tikal entrance, decline the camping fee. Just tell them you are going to Jagua inn. The fee is only required to Camp at the tikal site, which no longer has showers or toilets.
Jaguar now chargers 70 Quetzal per person as they basically have a monopoly. It may be worth checking other lodges to see if any would let you camp as 70 is crazy expensive for camping in the restaurant parking lot, even with access to showers and toilets.

Report Check-In

every month it gets more and more expensive, now it's already 70 Q/ Person, which is a lot. and the best WiFi showers and restrooms are not available all the time and so on. as the person before already wrote you pay, and pay and pay, ... would suggest to sleep at the parking lot at the entrance for free and drive to the entrance the next morning

Report Check-In

To be clear- it is NOT included in the camp fee. At the gate, you say Jaguar Inn and pay the fee only for THESE guys.
The main campground is (now?) only for RVs (no toilets) so no other options for a clean seat and for a shower.
We are angry about paying and paying and paying .

(>>> if you are going to Uaxactun too -and brought already your ticket at the main gate- do not forget to get the permit in the Office!)

Report Check-In

It is now 60 quetzal per person to camp. We camp in our van in the front parking lot of the restaurant, which was surprisingly quiet. Wifi is not working consistently and showers have warm water. Perfect spot to visit the site early morning.

Report Check-In

We came here and finally move to tikal campground cause of grass was too dirty and wet..:so complicated with kids. Be careful if it was raining previous days…

Report Check-In

Nice place to park the van. Showers, bathrooms and restaurant onsite. 50Q pp.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

First night in Guatemala after stopping to swim at Lago Petén Itzá. SO hot this week. Recent reviews are accurate, no surprises. Paid 100 Q for two adults/1 child. No hot water for showers, but we didn’t need it. Weird electricity stuff here. For example, no blended margaritas before 6 p.m. because the generator doesn’t go on until then. Speaking of the generator that is mentioned in other reviews, we couldn’t hear it at all. It was a quiet night other than animal noises. There is WiFi, but it is very slow and unreliable. I wouldn’t count on it. Everyone was friendly. We had a dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Best feature is easy access to Tikal in the morning. We were able to walk over around 6:30 before the heat and crowds kicked in. We didn’t see another person until we got to the first plaza.

Report Check-In

We spend one night on the parking in front of the restaurant. Was quite. To get there tou have to pay the fee entrance to the park 17km before, but pay the camping here at the restaurant. We had good shower (hot) and facilities are very good! We entered the park at the opening at 6am and left the van here! We came back 6h later and no problems! Wifi only world's in the restaurant.

Report Check-In

50Q pp parking is level. We are in a truck camper and there was also a camper van and a few tent campers. Lots of animals to see in the evening just before dark. WiFi is very slow, bathrooms are clean.

Report Check-In

If you are lucky, poor electricity and slow Wifi (18-20 & 7-8), still Q50/p/n. Cash only. Small car park on grass, only.

Report Check-In

All as described. We spent 2 nights Tent camping here, no one else camping here, only a few guests at the hotel... price unchanged, staff was friendly, power only between 0600-0800 & 1800-2000, no internet, no cold drinks but they have ice...

Report Check-In

Big Rig, two nights, 50q pppn. Electric very low power, as is internet
Best place to stay in Tikal.

Report Check-In

We visited during the pandemic times... most things in the park were closed, but we were still able to pay 50Q to park at the jaguar inn and use their bathroom. Electricuty and wifi were turned off, but the camp spot was safe and the bathrooms were nice. PERFECT for visiting Tikal. The parking spot is about 100 yards from the entrance to the ruins. (although the walk after the entrance is quite a ways... it is thru the jungle on a nice path and it is wonderful). When you camp here, you can enter the park at 6am... which was an added bonus! Lots of wildlife around! Oh... PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED in side of the grounds of Tikal, so you cannot bring them to this campsite. You will be asked about pets at the entrance gate (18 km away).

Report Check-In

grassy carpark next to restaurant/guesthouse poor internet only couple of hours per day, cold water showers, clean toilets. best choice close to the entrance. friendly staff.

Report Check-In

50Q/pers.
Very bad WiFi
Just a small parking lot but OK for our truck (7.10m long/3.5m high/2.5 wide)
Convenient to visit the tikal site

Report Check-In

nice space for camping, not super level for van or RV but level enough to sleep after a long day walking around Tikal. Showers are cold, which is nice after the heat of day. Bathrooms cleaner than many we've seen recently. Don't expect much from the Wi-Fi. It is slow, sometimes shows connected, most the time not. Better to just enjoy the jungle sounds. Chocolate in the restaurant very good!

Report Check-In

The camping is 50 Q per person either for tenting or sleeping in the car. Very nice place to stay while visiting ruins. Toilets are clean, for camping shower is only cold, WiFi works well in the restaurant and it's free for the guests.

Report Check-In

Much much better place then the other camping spot across the street named 'Camping at Tikal' and Tikal Campground'.

For this campground you can pay 50Q per person ay the hotel reception and not 17km down the road like for the campground across the street.

Light, Electriciry to your RV, Wifi, Shower and hot shower schedule in attached picture. Times are orientative because services were lasting but longer.

Place can fit 3 RVs or 6 vans only when toue company has no tents set up.
Place will always fit 2-3 vans.

Wifi is very crappy and can only be used to send and recieve Whatsapp messages once a while.

If you need to get tickets from.the Tikal main entrance they can arrangesomebodybto drive down and get the tickets for you for a fee of 50Q.

Report Check-In

Spent two nights, one before going into the ruins and one after spending the whole day in the ruins. Really worth the stop to see the ruins.
The camping itself is very limited for vans or bigger rigs. More set up for tents. They will let you run an extension cord to the restaurant if you need it. Nice facilities but it’s a steady stream of people being bussed to and from the restaurant as it’s a base for a tour company. The other campsite is much quieter.

Report Check-In

5 Q/ppn. The hot showers and wifi are limited with using hours in the evening (generator hours). Grasy area for tents and RVs.

Report Check-In

wifi didn‘t work, showers were not warm, food is expensive (22q for small beers, 80q for some spaghetti) and the portions are small.
And they try to charge you 10% gringo tax, which you don’t have to pay.
Wifi is free and fast at the other restaurant by the museum.

Report Check-In

great place to stay when visiting tikal. same price as Tikal campground but with warm showers, intermittent wifi, electricity on sites, clean bathrooms. owner is friendly. didn't try their restaurant though.

Report Check-In

Great place. Clean toilets and showers. Hint: use the guys shower on the right for cleanest. Slow WiFi. Didn’t use restaurant. A bit of noise from tourist at 4am that rose for the sunrise tour.

Report Check-In

As said before still: 50/pP

Lots of rental tent options and +/- 5 good parking options for campers, I can see difficulties for really big rigs .. maybe one possible since it‘s more of a hotel than a campground.

Facilities okay, but power went off after 8 in the showers, so bring your torch just in case.

Easiest start to the ruins (we went at 6 in the morning and were almost alone). Recommended!

Report Check-In

50 GTQ/person, free wifi with password at the reception.

Report Check-In

Friendly staff, good small camping spot, ideal to go to Tikal the next day. Warm-ish shower. We didn't eat at the restaurant so no comment on that.

Report Check-In

Slept here in our Mercedes sprinter for one night. Just arrived around 5pm, had a meal (not so bad, little expensive but no place to cook outside by yourself) and a good shower. Our dog stayed in our car during dinner and during our visit to the ruins next morning. Didn’t mentioned him.

Report Check-In

Not much space for car. But close enough for visiting Tikal. Food is just so so.

Report Check-In

Nice little camp-spot, very convenient for an early visit to the ruins. Friendly staff but restaurant food was overpriced and awful. 50q pp for the night is probably reasonable given the location. wi-fi was up & down, but we got some connectivity out in the camping area.

Report Check-In

Had dinner here. Expensive for what they serve. And the wifi password changed: "
[passwords are not allowed unless explicitly permited by the owner]
*" while I was there. included in dinner I think. Just for the wifi is 1 US

Report Check-In

It’s a good camping opportunity in Tikal. But don’t expect any internet. Most of the times it’s down. Actually we could use it for only five minutes.
Had a hot shower at noon.

Report Check-In

100Q for 2 people in truck camper. Easy and early access to the ruins to beat the busloads was wonderful. Okay wifi at restaurant, hot showers.

Report Check-In

Good options for camping. 50q per person per night.

As far as the Tikal goes:

- 6am to 6pm — you need one type lf ticket
- if you want to go between 4pm to 8pm, they ask you to buy another ticket and a guide. However, while you may need to get a ticket, avoid getting the guide. Instead walk in at around 4pm and just stay there until after 6pm. All of the tourists will be gone and you will have the whole place to yourself.

When we exited the complex at 7.45pm, there was no one at the gate checking when people were coming in or out.

Report Check-In

Stayed a night to visit the ruins. Paid 100Q for 2 people in truck camper. Enjoyed the easy access to the ruins. Wifi at restaurant, warm showers 6-9 am and pm. Good place to hang out and check in with other Overlanders.

Report Check-In

4 runner & rtt ... we set up camp inside the entrance and they were quite happy with that. 100q for 2 of us. toilets good and clean, showers... take note of times for hot water and pressure etc. quiet. and into tikal for 6am. happy days!

Report Check-In

no place to put my tent, I had to go to the official camping but you can buy the ticket for the official only at the entrance, 18km before. i manage with a bus driver to get the ticket. My advice if you want to camp. go to the official and buy your ticket the same time you buy your entry.

Report Check-In

Good place to overnight in Tikal. it allowed us to be in the ruins at 6am and to get the site almost for the two of us.
50Q per person

Report Check-In

Enjoyed our stay at the jaguar inn. Staff is super nice and welcoming! Bathrooms and showers were clean. We didn't use the electricity, the plug in is inside the restaurant (our 75feet long cable hardly reach and we had to lay it across a road) and operates at certain hours. It's 50Q per person.
Walking distance to Tikal. We enjoyed the sunrise tour with Jose Luis.

Report Check-In

Same price as at the official campground but clean and working showers and toilets. We had some spider monkeys passing at night. WIFI is slow. We payed 50 Q per people/night.

Report Check-In

Good option if your going to the Ruins and need electricity and wifi, although the electricity is just on a few hours in the morning, then the afternoon and then in the evening. Wifi's not great but will work to get a few messages out. Also they were ok with us having our dog. We're not sure the park allows dogs but the Jaguar inn was ok with it. We paid 50 Qt pp.

Report Check-In

Q100 to use one of their tents or Q50 if you bring your own. When we asked if the water was potable the hostess replied with "absolutely not." They do sell bottled water here. Good food but the portions are fairly small. I highly recommend staying here. The location is perfect, surrounding area is beautiful, and the staff are wonderful!

Report Check-In

Be aware that THIS is the correct GPS for the Jaguar Inn. We had been here with our truck and everything was totally fine. When coming from north, don't expect that Guatemala is cheaper than Mexico - it's the other way around. We paid 100 Q the night, parked in front of the restaurant, could use power from 6 - 9 pm and a slow wifi which reached our site. No cell-coverage. The entrance to Tikal is 100 m from your doorstep. As others told, we bought our tickets for the upcoming day at 3 o'clock at the park-entrance, which is 25 km away from the site. With that ticket you're allowed to enter Tikal in the afternoon. We did nightsky pictures at the Gran Plaza in Tikal and when the guide from the sunset-tour came along with the group from temple IV around 6:15 pm he charged us 50 Q and we were allowed to stay as long as we liked (They close the park at 6 pm). Don't forget to bring a flashlight and check your way out before darkness. If you want to have Tikal by your own, don't go with the sunset-tour in the morning. We entered the park at 6am while the rainforest wakes up and had even the gran plaza for our own. Meet the first tourist around 9 am.

Report Check-In

50Q per person in a tiny (and I mean tiny) area reserved for camping. Hot showers and being at the doorstep of Tikal are the big pros. If entering the park early in the morning doesn't matter to you, staying in El Remate isa much better option.

Report Check-In

Nice place nearby the ruïnes. ac power till 21.00hr and started at 6.00 in the morning. clean toilets. 50 q pp. verry quit.

Report Check-In

100 q. For two people. Electrical when turned on from 6-9 am and again 5-8 pm.

Report Check-In

nice clean campsite walking distance t the ruins. the toilets were clean, the showers were quite rustic but suitable. couldn't fill up with water here and the WiFi was quite slow. all in all it was a good spot to overnight for the ruins

Report Check-In

Paid 50q pp. showers were not that nice but in morning are hot. good Wi-Fi actually. had generator power till 9pm that was good enough to run our AC for the evening anyway. no cell reception.

Report Check-In

We made it to camp there with an 11m big rig. Basically to stay there for the night and getting to the ruins early in the morning. 100Q for the two of us. Quiet.

Report Check-In

It's not the best place to camp but it's fairly OK. We found here clean toilets and hot showers (from 6pm till 10pm).

Report Check-In

We did not sleep here as dogs are not allowed, not even in the parking area. Anyway we visit for one day and were hiding our dog in our truckcamper:)

Report Check-In

clean toilets. clean showers (don't mistake with old dirty shower in a green small box !!). wifi good only in front of restaurant. 50Q per adults. we stay 2 nights and ask to refill our water tank with sucess (free). Owner is smiling when u are !

Report Check-In

Way too crowded and after seeing Yax ha total waste of time. Recommend to skip but if you want to stay I will not call it camping...there are few spots for small RV, electricity 6-9 pm, 7-10am only. Wifi very very slow. Toilets dirty and showers horrible.

Report Check-In

Good spot in the hotel parking lot. Wi-fi, nice restrooms, nasty showers. Close to the ruins. We were able to sit in the restaurant outside area with our cooked meals. Security guard.

Report Check-In

Parking lot next to restaurant. Clean Restrooms, but very ugly showers. Wifi is very slow and will be turned off overnight.

Report Check-In

Followed the map to the wrong hotel - Tikal Inn. Jaguar Inn was before you turn down the dirt road, follow the paved road around to your left and you can't miss it. Very nice owner, speaks great English. Wifi was free but not very fast and would stop working for a few minutes every 10 to 15 minutes. Restaurant was double the price of an average hotel restaurant meal in Mexico. Was woken up by the tour leaving at 4am. Went to the ruins around 6:30am and was nice to have only a few people around. Don't know if I showered in the wrong place but I found the shower dirty, with only warm water and average pressure.

Report Check-In

Entry to Tikal 150Q/pp (cash & quetzales only). 50Q/pp/night to camp at Jaguar Inn. Flush toilets very clean, didn't try the showers. WiFi was terrible, barely worked. Electrical plug-in through the restaurant (the town runs a generator, so only available for few hrs in AM and few hrs in PM).

Report Check-In

Best place to Stay inside the ruins Park. 50 quetzales per person. Free wifi, electricity (few Hrs in the morning time, and a few more at evening) and very hot shower! Nice staff. If u enter to the park after 3pm you can use the same ticket for the next day to enjoy the sunset and sunrise.

Report Check-In

Hotel lawn 50q per person. Hot, hot showers

Report Check-In

100 Q/night for two. Wifi was free. We entered the national park around 4 p.m. to get the ticket for the next day and visited the ruins for sunset and sunrise - both visits highly recommended! We entered the 'arqueological zone' around 5.30 a.m. after a short discussion with the guard and without paying an extra amount (official opening hours 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., to the main plaza you will walk for about 20-30 minutes).

Report Check-In

Very nice place to stay overnight. Next to the entrance to the ruins. Very good food in the restaurant. Wifi and electricity are available. There are tours with cesar which are sunrise and then there are canopy tours. 200 quetzals a night for 5 people. Best HOT clean showers since the US. Big grassy areas in front of restaurant to park and hitch tents. Cons : expensive but in the park and biting ants everywhere outside. Youll wake up to parakeets tho which is nice.

Report Check-In

Quiet to camp, clean bathrooms, warm showers if you are first to have one. On site restaurant expensive but there are other options nearby. Wifi was available for additional cost, but we did not purchase this so cannot rate. 50Q/person/night.

Report Check-In

Good restaurant and bar, power, wifi and the best hot, pressured showers since the USA. Highly recommended. Sunrise tour with Ceasar exceptional. Travelling solo so they hit me for 80Q / night.

Report Check-In

The best place to stay if you want to see the ruins with few other tourists in it. You can get up early in the morning before the busloads of tourists get there and then go back late in the afternoon when they have all left again. There is a small grassy area for pitching tents that can get crowded at night. Parking is in front of the restaurant. Wifi available for a fee. Electricity in restaurant.

Report Check-In

Camping at Jaguar Inn/ Q25 per person. Power availabe but limited hours – 6.30-10pm in evening. Showers and toilets available. Internet Q40 per day. Not much space here but can park on grass to right of buildings.

Report Check-In

We planned to camp on the official Tikal Park campground, but when we got there they wouldn't let us drive in on the grass. Leter we heard from other travellers that they were allowed in. Just across the main parking area for Tikal is a small hotel that will let you camp on their property. It even turned out to be cheaper than the official campground, and the facilities were good.

Price: 100 quetzales
