Cheating while entering at port of Bandar Abbas (coming from UAE)
Coming from Sharja to Bandar Abbas, we also paid fees which were either completely unnecessary or unjustified; the latter particularly annoyed us.
With Siroos, a so-called «fixer» (trafficker), we agreed an amount of USD 50, so that he helps us with the formalities for the entry into the port and the procedure goes fast. It wasn't fast then, the procedure took 3 hours. In addition to this USD 50, he and his colleague Jafar wanted another USD 30 on the grounds that this would be for Shipping Clearance, Shipping Fee and Bill of Loading, which is total nonsense or a fraud against the tourist who is unaware oft he procedure/cost. These fees have already been paid in Sharja (Al Hili ferry compay) together with the tickets.
The only thing that has to be paid when entering Bandar Abbas is the harbour fees in the amount of Rial 500'000, which is about USD 5. Proof of this were our companions Thomi and Conny from www.mantoco.com; they did the entry without a fixer and paid only Rial 500'000. In the end, they only had half an hour longer than us.
Hands away from the mentioned fixers; unless you make a fixed amount in advance for their services plus port fees of Rial 500'000; but as we stated, this service would not be necessary.
Do not hand over your documents (passport, Carnet de Passage etc.) or pass through all stations together with the fixer.
If the fixer insists on further fees or puts a receipt in your hand, it is quite safe in Farsi (which you can't read), or faked.
Key point of the whole story is the payment of the harbour fees. (Unfortunately, the staff standing around that you ask for has no idea about the procedure or doesn't want to tell you anything, so you are forced to call in a fixer.) You can see the office where the harbour dues have to be paid on the photo.
Good luck and patience to complete the procedure without fraud.

Report Check-InMorteza charges 150 USD for himself and 150 USD for the authorities. The whole procedure only costs 50 USD, so you better do it yourself. It took us 4 hours.
Mix of our own experience and that of others. Can change every day if course.
1 Take printed Bill of Lading with you.
2 Delivery Order: 27.153813,56.204162
Persian Gulf White Tern Shipping should be the company which hands out the delivery order. They are in this building. When you enter the building, the responsible guy sits just straight in the middle of the room. He needs the BoL, Carnet and around 40 USD (11 miljoen in Rial) to give you the Delivery Order.
3 Walk back to road, go right, directly around corner: Get permission to enter harbour at ‘Office in trance permission’ (outside customs right hand corner).
4 Get "Import Store Receipt Note" from the warehouse handling company, inside the restricted port area. Go inside to the container offices inside the warehouse and ask for the needed document. They will prepare.
5 Customs: 27.154380,56.204682
Here are all the official customs people. The responsible person is a lady which sits left at the back end of the room. She needs the Delivery Order, Carnet, many copies of different things and you fill out a form. There is an official copy guy inside the building who does a good job for a small fee. You’ll have to go back and forth a bit, to some other people as well, this seems to vary a bit.
6 A customs guy will go/drive with you to the car and check number plate and VIN. Customs will stamp Carnet and give it back to you.
7 Warehouse Payment in container warehouse:
The warehouse/handling company gets around 10 USD (2.730.000 in Rial) for the storage and handling of your car (if we understood right). The responsible guy sits in the same building as step 4.
8 After that they are allowed to release the car. They will give you the keys. You can drive out of the warehouse and out of the restricted area.

Morteza was a big help for us. Great service, especially in this times, when the normal ferry is not available. The organisation with the Roro and the paperwork was perfect. Tel. of Morteza: +989129623005
Report Check-InComing from UAE I spent to import my scooter 3.200.000real (about 22$ now... push to receive a bill) + 3$.
I did it by myself, about 5hours. No fixers.
Have to admit, its a complicated process. Takes some time to collect all the needed papers. You can use a fixer for 50€ per car, this can take away a lot of stress. There is one guy named Ali, who is helpful and is some kind of professional. Friends used his help and confirmed good work. We did it without fixer, then expect to run a bit around. You pay port fee, passenger tickets, car ticket and BoL as mentioned above. Most guys we worked with were nice and always helpfull, but we had the impression they don’t really know the process themselves. You have to find out the competent guys, who helped us then with the next steps. If you go without fixer, go aleays with a positive attitude towards all steps and extra walks. enjoy it as an experience and interaction with the officials, nobody tried to cheat us. At the end it worked perfect on time, with fun and smiles and we had a great day doing a challenging border run.
Report Check-InWe confirm everything written by autarks! We arrived with the same ferry from Sharjah, but we decided to make the border procedere without fixer. At the end it wasn't complicate, took not much longer without help.
The fixer cost $ 50, not realistic for iranian situation. And they tell you that you have to pay for some documents about $ 40! This is fake!!! The only fee you have to pay entering Iran is IR 500.000 (about $ 4!).
So, don't tust them, do it by yourself! They will cheat you!!!
Most of the officials are very kind and help you.
