Crossed from Namibia to Angola.
Border checkout at Nam side was pretty easy. ~20min.
The Angola side took a bit longer. But the staff is very friendly and some of the speak english. TIP is 6770kz at the moment. The dont care abot CDP.
Make sure to bring a copy of the car paper, passport, driver licence.
If needed you can change ND to KZ at the border, they organized a guy for us which actually gave us a pretty good rate.
!only downside, the street to Xangongo is a mess. Took is 4h for 100km (rain)!

We crossed from Angola to Namibia today. At the Angola side we just had to give our Passavant back at the entry gate and go inside the building for our passport stamp.
On the Namibia side we filled in the arrival form and got a one month visa. There was no one at customs and after searching for a customs officer outside he said we don’t need a TIP and we only have to pay the Road Tax. That was 371 N$ paid with Visa, although we had to try a few times as the machine always had a technical error.

Angola -> Namibia

We tried to cross this border but didn’t succeed since we wanted to fly out of Namibia in one week and come back 2,5 months later to pick up the car again. We don’t have a CDP.

Things got quite complicated, many phone calls were done and one moment they said okay then they said we have to have this document, go to that agency etc.

At the end we turned around took the other border, got a 3 months TIP (instead of only 1 month at this border) and everything went well.

The road is also very bad to get here. Don’t take this border. The other one is just fine.

super easy and friendly boarder.
watertap on the namibian side behind the building where you pay the road tax. you can pay the road tax by visa card.

Report Check-In

Angola side was friendly and everything under one roof. The lady at the gate will take back your TIP and might inspect the vehicle out of curiosity. Inside the building you'll find immigration, and customs to stamp your CDP (they have no clue about it and tried writing on the front). Might be a good thing they didn't know much, as ours expired whilst in the country and we wanted to check into Namibia with the new one. No problem checking out once we explained where to write what. We luckily did have our TIP as well though to double up on customs without risk. Everything is in the light greenish building, but it could be that not everybody is around to give you your stamps. We had to search a bit for immigration. In total 15 minutes with the delays.

Namibia side everything under one roof yet again. Immigration and customs. You'll also have to pay your taxes here. Namibian side was very slow and it took us about 1 hour without it being very busy. The CDP made it confusing.

Nobody cared that we had a dog with us. Nobody needed to see any papers.

As mentioned, coming from Angola switch to the left side of the road!

comming from angola and the officers at the namibian side told us it is allowed to bring two cherry-cans (40 liters) of fuel. road tax is 371n$

Report Check-In

Came from Nam to Angola, eady border crossing Nam side. Angola side they wanted a copy of Drivers licence, passport, police clearance, certificate of registration and vehicle licence disk which they kept.
We also had to show a picture of the car and trailer. This they need for TIP. They do not stamp or want the CDP. TIP was 6336 Kwanzas

Still a super easy border crossing. The fastest we have seen going down the west coast. After exiting Angola (stamp out, thats it), you pay the road tax for Namibia, then go to immigration and customs next building. Fill up a form for immigration, then they take a picture of you and stamp your passeport. No problem at customs with CDP (2011 Toyota Hilux) but we needed to explain the guy what to do with it. Then 2 sleepy officers will ask to have a look in your car but they obviously dont give a rat about whats inside. 25 minutes max at the border and we were on our way, (on the left side this time and for a while). Very friendly people.
UPDATE : for people coming from Angola, there is no way to exchange Kwanza at the border (at least, its what happened to us). Its a very small border, we asked around and saw no one how could help us with that. And in Ruacana also, no way to exchange Kwanza, in the street or in banks. We even asked a friend in Windhoek, he said "no way, nobody gives a S about Kwanza". Get rid of your Kz before crossing or go to the main border at Oshikango.

from angola to namibia.
very easy border and very quick : 30 minutes.
angola : 10 minutes. customs to check the car (just for curiosity) + immigration (passports stamped).
namibia : 20 minutes. healthy checkpoints (yellow fever + covid vaccine) / immigration (3 months without any fees) / tax road (344 namibian dollars for a 4x4 for 3 months, paid by visa!) / police registration / customs asked to open the car but didnt bother our 40 fuel liters.
people very friendly. no hassle.

Easy border post mainly at Angola sides. Close a18 h. Last 95 km from Xangongo are dirt and corrugated. it takes nearlyl 3 hours. Bear in mind that on Xangongo use not to have diésel, because Black market with Namibia. On Namibia side border pass was slowly because health, inmmigration and roasd tax (20 euro) to pay in Namibia dollars

As per everybody else, friendly and easy, but slower than it should be. Customs kindly gave me a 30 day TIP after asking how long I was staying for (2 months I said, but 1 month is the maximum they could give).
I was the only person who had to show a covid vaccine certificate, everybody else just waltzed in ;p

Report Check-In

Officials quite friendly, but as per usual can not speak a word of English on Angola side. Our vehicle was searched twice, but think it was more out of curiosity. The same for the Namibian side. Process was quite smooth, but although it is a quiet border post the whole process took more than 1.5 hours.

Easy border. Angola was done in 10 minutes, Namibia in 20. Borders close at 19h Namib time / 18h Angola time.

Namib customs and police didnt care we had over 70l’s of cheap Angolan fuel on our roof.

Report Check-In

Easy, but time consuming on the Namibian side for check-in mostly due to inspections and paying the road tax. Most important detail: Namibia drives on the left NOT on the right!

Report Check-In

Very easy border, very quite and Angola side is almost brand new. We crossed Angola to Nambia and we were done in 30 minutes for both sides. Angola takes the TIP and stamps you out. Namibia have us another 90 days and we could pay road tax here too. All very easy getting to the border is on a rough road, but not the worst.

Just reiterating what the others stated; easy and friendly border crossing. Nice drive coming from Angola (which by the way comes highly recommended; lots of beautiful places to visit).

Easy border. Angola were happy to stamp us out.

Entering Namibia was easy enough. Immigration gave us a 6 week visa. No charge.
Customs were unsure how to deal with us without a Carnet but figured it out. Gave us a TIP free of charge.
As of May 2017 there is a Road tax. All very legitimate with printed prices on the window. N$177 per motorcycle. N$277 for a 4x4. We got a printed receipt. Try have Namibian currency. Will make your life easier.
