Latest Check-Ins

As we were the only customers the kindly hostess said that we could park our camper at any of the five tent sites, which are all in the lee of a large rock and benefit from shade from mid afternoon. Hence we did not see the actual campsite pitches.

The small pool at reception was perfect for a cooling dip and the WiFi there adequate for updates.

On the downside, being a bank holiday meant that no restock had been done, so there was no food and no drinks available. Also there was no water on arrival (although this grudgingly turned on at about 18:30), although no offer was made to light the donkey - so no hot water.

Each tent site has a braai, a sink, a dustbin and private open-top ablutions (albeit cold water) but definitely no electricity - the lights are apparently solar.

All in all N$200 pppn for a swim, some WiFi, some late shade and later flush.

Given the rave reviews on Google we must have hit them on a bad day!

Perfect place to relax for one or two days. Beautiful location, very quiet.
They have a pool which was unfortunately not that clean. Wifi at the bar is reliable but not very fast.
Restaurant was closed during our stay. They have some cold drinks.
Very friendly owner.
New price (2024) is 200N$ pppn.

The campsite is set against the rocks with views out to the escarpment. A good set up with private bathroom, hot water from a donkey boiler, WiFi at the bar, small swimming pool. A short walk up to a sundowner viewing point over a small waterhole. Very friendly and relaxed owner/manager. 180pppn

Beautiful campsite! nice swimming pool, hot shower, no wifi, no signal mtc. beautiful spot with table for sundow

Report Check-In

Indeed an amazing campsite, highly recommended. Beautiful rock formations, relaxing pool, everything well cared for and clean. It's an attraction on it's own, I'd call it a must-see.

There are light posts at the campsites, but limited (solar) power, so no plug-ins. We were charged N$ 150 pppn, cash only. No WiFi, neither at camp nor at the reception. There is a bar, however no restaurant or food, unless maybe with prior reservation or in an emergency. So come prepared and unplug.

Price increases to NAD150 ppn.
Now it's GREEN and so beautiful and amazing.
Still everything is fine.
We really enjoyed our stay and the sundowner spot

A gem of a find. Private outside ablutions, clean with hot water. Ann and her husband are great hosts helping us stay dry in the rain by providing us use of their bar area to cook in and hang till it stopped. Amazing views, good WiFi and cold beer.

Indeed a nice campsite with kind staff and owners and very well maintained facilities. Note that the actual camping area is in a flat area with trees but not much shade. They are beautiful at end of the day and morning time, but probably not that pleasant during the day. Swimming pool is at restaurant/ reception which is about 200 meters from closest campsites. The photos with tents under the rock formations are actually the tented camp area which we can pitch our own tents if there's no other clients. All is very clean including the pool even though there's not a single tourist in the region. Wifi is (really!) slow so don't count on it. Also no MTC signal at all. Many lovebirds around and you can see them going to "bed" in the wholes in the rock formations if you go for a walk around sunset time. We've paid 130 NAD ppn. Recommended, specially with this price!

Beautiful Camp in the middle of fantastic rocks.
Due to less guests in the moment, we were allowed to stay on the tent sites near the pool. Price with discount in the moment 130 nad ppn, absolut fair for this great place, with nice restaurant near the pool and very friendly Team. If you are lucky you see elefants near the pool.

What a delight to stay here.
I pitched my rooftoptent but they have beautiful decorated tents for a very good price.
The environment is just gorgeous, outside showers (private), clean swimming pool, bar/restaurant and free Wi-Fi.
At one of the rockformations there are benches for a sundowner.
Just a stunning place with the most friendly owners.

Special for 130 at the moment.

Tents around 650 I think

The place is there and it is great, but the official name is now ‘hais ra tented camp’.
Most beautiful place we have stayed so far. 2 km from the biggest petrified forest.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite! We could stay at a tented camp spot with our rooftoptent, the rocks are a shelter for the wind. Very nice abutilon with good, hot, shower. We went up to the rocks over the short trail and saw the rocks turning red in the last sunlight, a must see!
We did a braai in the outdoor kitchen/braai area.
Lots of stars at night and it's so silent.
Payed the Corona price: 123$N p.p.p.n.
The owner is lovely and likes to have a chat with her customers. Highly recommended!

Beautiful camp with private ablutions and kitchen facilities braai and wood available. Donkey ready to make hot water when needed. Restaurant, bar and swimming pool. Hosts are so welcoming. Tented camps also available tucked into the mountain looking similar to Spitzkoppe

THIS IS THE CORRECT LOCATION!! We know because we went to the wrong one (which is marked on ioverlander 55km away near Khorxias). Amazing place (other people agree but all the reviews are next to the wrong location). Stunning views from the swimming pool and ‘sundowner’ rock, really friendly staff, we paid 150pp to camp (low season discount) normally 170. One of the best places we have stayed in Africa.

THIS IS THE WRONG LOCATION.

The camp is 55km outside of town

This beautiful place is mentioned two times in I overlander (almost same coordinates). Use/ read the other camping sign in I overlander.

I think there is confusion between both His Ra campsites. It looks like the one in this location doesn't exist anymore. Only the one at -20.42708 14.51573 is exist! please check it. I slept only at the last camp and the same opinion appears for some reason in both. I passed Khoriax today and saw no signs of the first position.

Amazing place. Everything is perfect. Clean bathrooms and shower. Very nice restaurant. Great small pool. 175pp for adults and 80 for children.

A fantastic campsite, extremely friendly owners and staff. Amazing sunset from the big rock - you can easily climb it up. Very clean ablutions. If you come with a car and rooftop tent they let you stay under the rock if there are no reservations for the tents they installed. Price for camping was N$ 175 ppn - absolutely fair. Campers are welcome to use the pool. Also go to see the Damara people petrified forest - very nice native people running it and you see amazing petrified trees!

Report Check-In

One of the best and nice campsite we have stayed. 175 $ ppn and 50$ for the electricity from the tent. you can also do laundry for 30$

Be sure to stop here for one night at the very least. A very special tented camp site, superb layout with sites tucked into over hanging cliffs for shade. I camped in my rig, same price as a tent. Breath taking scenery. Pool, bar, cafe.

We had access to one of their tent for electricity and they are new, with 2 single beds (maybe others have different configurations), - a table with 2 chairs, a trash bin, something to hang or dry clothes, a ventilator, a lamp, nice bedsheets and towels. Really nice.

Report Check-In

We stopped by to see if there would be available campsites and we were the only ones - as of now. Nice campsite, small restaurant area at the reception and small pool, each campsite has a permanent tent but we will use our 4x4 rooftop tent. Where we decided to camp there are 3
Ablution blocks for 5 campsites, open sky toilet/shower. Fire donkey hot water. Outdoor sinks available too and braai on demand. Nice rocky formations. We paid 175pppn, which is 50N$ more than the previous comment, posted 3 weeks ago.
