Turned away. Can’t stay here not even in the car park. For the paid camping you have to reserve and then stay 2 nights.

Report Check-In

We stayed here one night after Cotopaxi hiking. Every kind of rig fits at the parking lot in front of the Area. This is a grassy spot and protected from the wind. It is also possible to stay inside the area on a parking lot but this is not leveled.
They have bathrooms, a small playground and barbecue areas. You can also hike in a pine forest.
The rangers are friendly and they say the place is safe.

As described. We arrived at 5pm. The Park closes at 4pm and you normally need to Book in advance but as we are strangers they let us camp (with a tent).

Great little spot to camp!!
Rangers are friendly- alpaca and llama came by in the morning.
Water available but not potable.
It gets COLD in the nighttime! Found out a bit hard to sleep due to altitude (3600) but we acclimated soon enough.
We also arrived a bit past 4pm on bikes- not a problem at all.

As stated before, we can share all the postive comments! Doesn't look like South America, though, could be anywhere in the European Alps, f.ex. 😄

very nice place
perfect place for a barbecue, with very nice facilities.
very peaceful, but cold at night.
lots of people on sunday, less on Saturday, and empty during week days.
flat parking, but not leveled.
Lama, alpaga and a sheep taken care by the officers.
if you are lucky you can see wolfs and deers in the forest.
note that this forest is not natural : pine trees coming from USA for timber in 1928. but nice trails for any kind of walkers (from 1km to 25km)
as already said by others the entrance of the road that goes there is directly on the highway and not that easy to see, so be ready and drive slowly not to miss it.
you can have some views on the volcano if you walk around.
