Description

Staff here are super friendly and relaxed, seems lots of people from the US cross here to Mexico for the weekend as Ojinaga is more resourced than little Presidio. Ojinaga seemed really safe too.

so once we entered the aduana gate, the small white building to the left is the banjercito where you cancel the TIP and get your refund. then drive up to the bigger buildings and park on the left just before the boom gate. there we went into customs to exit mexico, they did not ask us to pay the tourist fee but that may be because they saw we entered via plane so the tourist fee was already paid within our airfares. Exiting at the boom gate costs usd1.50 or mxp26 to go over the bridge per vehicle. At the bridge US customs checked our passport, then at the boom gates at the US entrance they checked our passports again and gave our vehicle a cursory glance, only to check that we weren't smuggling people in it. They were surprised to have tourists come through as they usually only deal with locals between the cities at this border. All in all, it was super quick and easy!

would definitely recommend this as a border crossing into the US, at least at this time!

best border crossing ever. super ez to cancel tip going north out of MX. Have a list of what you have to declare. customs at US took my list. We knew to have no citrus, avocado, eggs were hard boiled. food was minimal. he asked about meat. ours all cooked and in the freezer. They kept asking if we were only us 2. no one in the camper. no secondary! our first time not being searched. best place ever! super chill but professional. We told everyone we are grateful for doing their job

Yeah, gotta agree with TravelingRedwoods. Great border crossing. Way way newer than several others we've been to. Well organized and clean. Banjercito open 8am to Midnight, absolute life saver considering how far you'd have to go otherwise. Strangely not on Google maps either. TIP cancellation was super quick and easy. American side was very cordial but did do a relatively thorough search of the van. Still was only a 30 minute process, both sides combined. Though it was basically empty on a Saturday night.
