Description

Amazing hot spring on an island in the middle of the river. The pin is at a fire ring; you can drive the rest of the 0.5 miles downstream to the hot spring but 4x4 helpful. We walked the 10 minutes downstream until you see the island on your left. In early May we were able to wade across the river to the island in knee deep, cold water. Walk another 25 meters downstream in the middle of the island and you’ll see a big pool on your left about 12’x6’. Water was nice and hot, over 100 degrees for sure. Enjoy!

Nice hot springs, the road is a bit rough. The springs are actually at this location:

43.7757082, -118.0473863

There is only one side of road from where you can access this spot. Coming from west, you need to cross the highway bridge and make a left.

Here is the spot here you need to take the unpaved road:

43.7667735, -118.0396947

This is called Juntura Hot Spring. Nice little spring. There was no one there when we arrived, a couple others came in later. The road was rough, but we made it to the end of the horseshoe in our civic. The river was high and fast, but not a problem to wade through. The island with the spring is covered with goat heads (plant that drops very sharp little spike balls) so wear shoes. We found the upper pond to hot, but down in the lower one on the river we could titrate to whatever temp we liked.

Theses are the best pools I’ve visited. I came in the dead of winter while the river was frozen and the lower, hotter pool was still about 100 degrees. Highly recommend

Amazing hot springs, parked on the west side of the road and walked across the bridge and then about half a mile down the road to the hot springs. Could also access the road from the west entrance. Waded through knee high water with a current to find a beautiful hot spring pool with a cooler pool right on the river slightly below. Would have camped for the night but there was no cell service for work. Highly recommend check it out!

Truly amazing hot spring, a must-see! In October the river was so low we easily crossed on the little stones. Giant hot pool must be 25x15ft, and the two hot pools in the river are even warmer. Clean, just a couple other people here, saw ospreys flying overhead and fish jumping out of the river. Loooove it here. Plenty of places to park and camp.
