Lovely quiet campsite only 6km from entry to Mapaungbwe (do the walk with guide at 7am before exploring park - we organised at gate). We had hyena and elephants visit us in the unfenced campsite.

Ablutions spotless: even with hand towels and soap. Several small
Blocks. Water tap at site, lighting and power point. Mopane tree shade. Braai. PowerPoint. Ok wifi at campsite

Pool lovely- as mentioned can use at Wilderness camp (closet) or main lodge. We were welcomed to hang out there for a couple of hours. Shady sunbeds at Wilderness camp pool.

210pppn. Stayed 2 nights.

Very nice campsite at the Mapesu Private Game Reserve. R200/pppn. We were on campsite nr. 8 with the big baobab for 2 nights. A porcupine visited after dark and hyenas were calling at night. Good hot shower in clean ablutions. No self drives allowed inside the private reserve but this is a superb place to do day visits to Mapungubwe National Park of which gate is only about 15 mins drive away. Water is too salty for drinking, so bring your own drinking water. Wifi also at the campsite, near ablutions!

Very nice campsite and ablutions. We squeezed our 11T teuck in no problem. We saw porcupine and cheetah in camp. I left a pair of Crocs out overnight and they were in bits by morning (hyena). We took an afternoon game drive with the lodge in the late afternoon to the NP which was excellent. Camping 190 pppn.

Hyena and Leopard frequent night time visitors
Ablution clean and new

Great spot, and not much more to mention that hasn't already. Sites are powered, ablutions are clean and newish, and if you're lucky and come during the week, you may have the whole place to yourself.

Shade is a bit scarce during the dry months, but found that campsite #10 is probably one of the better ones available.

Had the whole camp to ourselves and was very very cool! Great ablutions, giraffe right next to our camp and staff very accommodating!

Wouldve camped next to the baobab but unfortunately there was no shade and it was very hot.

Would come back again!!!

Very nice place
R250 pppn not R250/site
Camping hardly accessible for small cars

Report Check-In

Very nice place but further off the highway than we’d like for just one night. Coordinates shown are correct for the campsite, but not the best for finding this spot. Suggest using the coordinates for the entry gate at S 22.23413 E 29.46355, then follow signs to reception 3kms from the gate. Person at reception will then guide you another 6kms to campsite. Total driving on good but rocky road is 16kms from gate to reception to campsite and back to gate. Good place and deserves a longer stay.

Thay have very nice camp spots each with electrical points and three very neat abblutions. There is a dam close to the camps to view animals as well. They also have free WiFi at the lodge and at camp.
