Clean ablutions, but not a very nice campsite to stay at, because it is right next to a very busy road. Walks are nice.

Price - R250 for a campsite
How to Book - Book online on the sanparks website and there will be a conservation fee to pay too (https://www.sanparks.org/parks/golden_gate/)
Check in process - Make sure to get to the reception between 8am - 6pm
Unique things - So many lovely trails directly from the campsite, 30 minute to 4 hour hikes
Ablutions - Well maintained, hot water, cleaned daily
Better sites - as far away from the road as possible, try to get close to the trees
Access - Road is good, just watch out for the speed bumps

cosy campsite. friendly jackhal roaming around. luckaly he is more afraid of us than we of him ;)
friendly people. can be very windy somethimes. or rooftoptent was shaking to much so we had to sleep in the kithen. caretaker said storng winds is normal here. but if no wind, very nice sleeping.

Report Check-In

Not bad, had some jackels at night sniffing around and the ate my slops. Ablutions was nice. Camp site right next to main road. Noisy.

Report Check-In

Nice, little Campground, very clean ablutions, shower with a certain, so no Wetter cloth ;-). we paid 333,30 R für 2 Person and a camper. walks startet direct from the campground.

Report Check-In

There is an excellent restaurant at the nearby hotel. The Valentine dinner took place there!👍👍😄😄

Report Check-In

Excellent site. Clean, well organised by SANP. Camped with roof top tent near the river - beautiful, with electricity. Ablutions clean. Great, well signposted walks in the mountains.

Report Check-In

A dreamy campsite at the Golden Gates of Clarens. The surrounding mountains lit up gold at sunset. What a view! Soft grassy camping under the many willow trees. A bubbling stream directly alongside the campsites, beautiful to fall asleep to at night. I had the BEST swim in the morning. Ablutions were clean and great. Camp sites were private, the ground was even, we parked our van with ease. There was an electrical outlet, as well as a spot to make our evening fire. All in all one of our favourite spots and will be back again and again.

Report Check-In

Really nicely located campsite in the heart of the Golden Gate with fabulous hiking trails. Make sure you hike to Echo Ravine and hike the Halkren trail starting at the hotel.

ZAR316 pn online booking with Wildcard. Great experience: green grassed pitches, lovely views, beautiful, accessible hiking trails, stunning night time stars and clean, crisp high altitude mountain air! Beware of the baboons who steal food easily if left unattended or even in closed tents. Highly recommend this National Park otherwise!

Report Check-In

Located in a really beautiful region. Views from many camping spots are very nice. Road is really close to it but it's mostly calm during the night. Ablutions are good and clean with hot water. Laundry machine wasn't working but could manage to pay someone at reception to wash clothes. Good Vodacom internet signal. Don't leave plates or sandals outside as a very clever jackal roams around the camp at night. 😅

Report Check-In

Nice campsites, with or without electricity. Clean ablutions, hot showers with good water pressure.
In the shop you can only pay with cards, no cash. But for the laundry you need 5 R (4x) coins for washing machine and dryer (each).
Really nice scenery. We enjoyed some walks and our 2night stay

Report Check-In

Nice views, but it is a bit noisy because of the main road running past it

Report Check-In

Spectacular views from the campsites and great bar for hiking trails. Half the campsite is closed at the moment, only powered sites available. Campsite is next to the main road but traffic pretty much non existent after dark so no noise issues at all. Clean ablutions with all the facilities including an oven in the kitchen and washing machines and dryers. Interesting info about the area at the interpretation centre at reception. Small shop. Kids play area. Construction still ongoing at Dinosaur centre (has been going on for years), some noise from staff but no big machinery.

Report Check-In

The campsite is nothing special, but the Highland park offers nice possibilities to hike! Construction is still not finished. 4G Cell C reception

Report Check-In

Campsite is not closed, but we would not recommend it.
No gates, constructionwork nearby. On a Friday only one other camper.
We left.

Report Check-In

The place is open but still neighbor to a construction site. The view is beautiful but not the most charming place.

Report Check-In

Same camp as Glen Reenen. There is only one in The park.

Report Check-In

It's a basic campground, but the campsites are relatively level, the ablutions are clean, and it has a laundry room with washer and dryer.

Report Check-In

It seeme that the place is closed temporarily. When we passed it there was a big fence along the road which blocked the entry. There is a huge constrution work ongoing (huge ugly conference building?).

Report Check-In

Place was fine. If you camp there is no entry fee. Some building work is going on next for so might be noisy during the day.

Big rig friendly. There is a 10t weight restriction sign but the staff told me since we were camping it was fine to proceed through the park. Road was not an issue, no bridges or anything so you can safely ignore it.

Report Check-In

Scenic, a bit expensive but a nice stop on our 12 day trip

Report Check-In

Definitely the worst campground in South Africa for us. It was a long weekend (we didn’t know when we booked it) and it was overcrowded. We arrived short before 6pm and only found a place very close to the street without electricity or fireplace. It was very very noisy from the street.
Next time we would wildcamp than staying here. Not worth the money.

Report Check-In

Nice and clean ablutions smal campsite in the Center of the park, next to the Main Road so lots of noice!

Report Check-In

Nice and tranquil, awesome Mountain View’s. The ablutions are clean.

Report Check-In

Beautiful under the mountain. Spectacular views. Clean ablutions. Beware of the baboons, they stole my cooler box.

Report Check-In

217,2 per site in october. beautiful landscape! clean and hot showers, kitchen. grass. some shadow. hiking trails possible.

Report Check-In

nothing to add. unfortunately the campground is directly on the road, so there is noise from the traffic, and as the gates from the nationalparks are not operated, traffic passes almost the whole night. otherwise it is a nice spot.

Report Check-In

Nice place, very clean ablution and Kirchen. 328R for 2adults and 4children with electricity.
