Great little campground, free dump and weather radio playing in the bathroom

Great place to spend one night while passing through Kansas. Super easy to get a spot here! As a solo female traveler I also felt very safe. Police did rounds a couple times while I was there, and all other people staying there were couples in their 60s-70s with dogs staying in RVs. They have some tent sites there as well. Showers are hot and free, and they also have free wifi throughout the whole campground!

Quiet campground, seven blocks off I-70 in the small town of Ellis. Great value, heated bathrooms, flush toilets, hot showers. $25 in an electric site, though we didn't use the electric. Parking area for tent campers - maybe you can sleep in your van and pay the cheaper price, but we went for the defined, concrete pad spot. Only passing through and it was a great spot off the interstate for good night's sleep and shower. Heard two trains in middle of the night but not a big deal. A row of spots along the river are treed. We took back row, where there were fewer campers and it was dark anyway when we arrived. 8th St runs through campground, but heard little traffic at night. Patrolled by police- saw them twice during our short stay. Imagine not too much else for them going on in Ellis. Recommend highly for a night on your way through Kansas!

Wonderful spot and easy access. Sites as described. Bathrooms clean and open all night. Pay station is cash or check.

Good RV park, not ideal for tent campers. no privacy and the facilities are sub par, the mens toilet has a curtain, no door. for the price could do better. $25 is great value in a self contained RV

Report Check-In

Nice small campground with electric and water hookups.

Hot shower. Nice sites. Good & clean neighborhood. You will most likely hear a train go thru town. Pay on honesty system. Ate at a mom and pop restaurant called Arthur’s Pizza & Mexican. Very nice people and good food! See pics for more info

beautiful little campground right on the river. plenty of spots with limited electricity. the bathrooms were closed, I think they open mid April. not a lot of privacy as there is a little road that runs by the spots, but the cops drive by occasionally. as a solo female traveler I felt completely safe here. there are fire pits and picnic tables as well.

Quiet place to spend night right off the highway. No toilet or water in the off-season. Power is available. Nice diner is a 5 minute walk.

hot showers, full hookups tent sites as well. 30amp and 50amp hookups available at most sites.Sites are grav with plenty of room and many are well shaded. there is even a small playground and park across the street.During spring/summer season $15 for tent and $25 for RV/using hookups. train was my alarm clock at 7:30. very pleasant stay and would certainly stay again.

Very nice campground along the river! We had a peaceful night’s sleep, although some noise in the early evening. Each site has electric and water hookups (except rent sites) and there’s a dump near the bathrooms. Bathrooms are cleaned daily, according to the sign. They’re old, but clean. The sites are big with lots of shade trees. RVs $25/night. Would definitely stay here again!

Report Check-In

Nice place, but noisy from train all night. There are now wifi! Water the river to dirty for swiming.

Report Check-In

A road runs through the campsite that is frequently used throughout the day but quiets down around 9pm. Locals are definitely curious about you and will likely stop to chat. Folks seemed genuinely concerned that I would be cold in a tent. I would not recommend if you’re looking for solitude. Bathrooms and facilities were clean.

First come first serve but we got here around 7:00 and there still a few spots left on a Saturday. This was just a spot to sleep on the way home so didn’t explore around at all. Town looks cute. A little highway noise.

Report Check-In

Clean and inexpensive stop right off the highway. We came here to avoid severe thunderstorms. Ellis is a quiet and clean little town. Park sits on a small lake and park. Electric and water hookups for &20. Concrete, level pull through spots that can hold a large trailer. Self pay by the restroom. Regarding the comments on the bathrooms, they are run down but didn’t strike me as gross. Old yes, but trash was emptied and it looked like someone cleaned. All in all a good place to stop for the night.

Report Check-In

Pretty quiet, and along a river. Nice to wake up to in the morning. It was full the one night we were here, but people mostly keep to themselves. The bathrooms are GROSS and very creepy. There’s a weather broadcast playing on repeat, the one toilet is stained and doesn’t look like it’s had a proper cleaning in a long time. If you have the means, use your own pooper.

Very active place. Car drive by the camp area all the time. Clearly a local party area with lots of locals coming to hang out at one campsite, playing music and partying all night. Wifi doesnt work in some sites.

Report Check-In

Interesting place. Very quite right next to the water. Large sites, but unfortunately the showers and bathrooms were not open. $20 a night for an RV.

Report Check-In

Good little spot! 15 spaces with water and electric. Bathrooms and showers also. Very clean, managed by the city of Ellis. $20. Only downer was that there is a bit of traffic noise.

Report Check-In

Great place. Hot showers! nice level shaded sites with grass, table, firering and/or grill, good AT&T service, close to interstate but far enough to not hear traffic, nice dock on creek for fishing, pet friendly and inexpensive!

This place totally gave us the creeps. We’ve camped all over the country and have never had an experience as weird as this campground. It’s locally run “by the community” and the community far oversteps their boundaries. The old man in the house directly adjacent to the campground has constant surveillance of the campground but is NOT affiliated. So he was watching us all morning since we got there, circled around our car several times in his truck (even when we moved) and even drove into our campsite momentarily before leaving. Then, we took showers (the one redeemable quality of the place is the hot showers) and as we came back to our car he came out of the woods and approached us. I can’t make this up! Luckily we weren’t planning on staying the night there so we left after talking to him. Needless to say, if you like your privacy this is NOT the place to go.
