Venezuela
During off season we could camp for free at Andrés his nice place. Gets crowded during local holidays (Christmas and January). From here there is excellent hiking to various viewpoints of the plains in Brazil and the steep drop-off called "El Abismo".

went here to hike to El Abismo, great short hike with amazing views. met Carlos and Nicole who let us park at their house and gave us ice water when we returned. we sampled their delicious honey and bought half a jar (small to fit on the moto) for only $3. we spent probably an hour in their home talking to them, super nice interesting people who speak English, French and Spanish fluently. they would have let us stay there if we didn't already have our tent set up at Las Brisas.
Report Check-InNicole and Carlos offered us to camp on their property, but we already had different plans. Would have been nice to spend the night there. They have a nice pool and a beautiful view over the landscape.
We hiked to El Abismo and bought delicious honey from Nicole and Carlos. They are super friendly.
The campsite & restaurant are no longer operational, but you can still stay here. Hike to the Abismo is well worth it, 45 minutes to the first viewpoints. Super friendly Nicole & Carlos sell some seriously good honey. Walk up the track, past the first house (El Vergel) to find their little paradise. Proper 4wd required to get here. If in doubt, leave your car near the airstrip and walk.
