There are pull-offs all along this dirt road just a minute off Hwy 84. The first one is relatively close to the highway but you can always opt for farther back. Tons of old fire rings. Very quiet and a good stop if you’re traveling on 84! Campground down the road has deep ruts in road. Big rigs can easily navigate most sites.

Latest Check-Ins

We stayed in our promaster in the first spot on the left. It was a fine spot. Could definitely hear the highway, but we weren’t concerned about that. Only a few cars drove by on the dirt road, but two cops drove around for a bit and parked near our site and chatted to each other for about half an hour.
Pretty sunset, not many bugs

Such a serene location. We had one neighbor next to us. Came ar dusk. Had a very level site (better than a lot of campgrounds.) Don't miss this secluded site.

Lots of spots along the forest road. Our group has two skoolies that are mid sized and did just fine on the road. Starlink works great, regular cell service is spotty/none. Beautiful national forest, highly recommend!

Annual stop through Wallowa forest. Still a great spot to spend the night and enjoy a little nature.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place and lots of pull out that you can camp

Report Check-In

Stopped here for an overnight. Pretty chilly this time of year but a nice spot. Reasonably clean but lots of gunfire. Moved on pretty quick because of an approaching snow storm

Report Check-In

Pretty clean, feels safe. You can hear a bit the noise of the highway but nothing really that disturbs you to get any sleep. Every now and then, cars drive through but slow.

Report Check-In

Nice spot to stop and stay, quiet (yes some traffic noises) pine trees, fire ring.

Report Check-In

Plenty of spots to camp if you turn right up the dirt road across from the information sign. There were 3 RVs parked at the information sign (I think it may have been hunters), and one other vehicle came up the dirt road to camp around dusk. Lots of good spots to pull off and camp. There was no wind, and the freeway noise was pretty loud. However, that became white noise and after a while we didn't even notice it after a few minutes.

Great spot to camp - lots of spaces . Easy on and off of hwy84. Not a lot of people on a Friday for Labor Day weekend

Report Check-In

Great, private spot in field right of off I84. As described by others. We got here around 9pm and only one other vehicle was here, we pulled into one of the spots closer to freeway as it was dark and we didn’t want to explore at night down the dirt road but the freeway noise was minimal (white noise) and we had a lovely wide open field all to ourselves. Would definitely stay here again.

Report Check-In

Tons of spots to park here. There is a pull off right next to the information sign, or you can turn down the rocky road immediately on the right and there’s a ton of spots, or if you continue straight down the main road there’s a few spots and the official national forest campground maybe a mile down the road. Spotty cell service with Verizon but worked occasionally.

Convenient find off of I-84. Arrived Sunday with numerous trucks, trailers and OHV activity and it was still off season. Found dispersed camping further up the road and beyond the developed Campground. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObNUtzLanVs

lovely spot in a National Forest. it was a little muddy when we were here and we chose to turn right up road 50 to reach some slightly higher ground.

there was traffic noise from the freeway but nothing that disturbed our sleep. really, a very beautiful spot

Report Check-In

Each spot has a fire pit and picnic table. We have two bars LET with Verizon. Seems to be plenty of fallen branches around for a nice fire. Last mile the road turns bad. You can maneuver around most of the potholes. Outhouse here. It’s the Forest, gotta love it.

Great find!
We were driving off the highway 84 and needed a stop to sleep we followed the directions of get off at exit 248 then turn right at stop sign it’s Road 21. We drove on 21 and made another immediate right turn and there was no one in the first turn out. We slept there. Wa had 2 bars for Verizon. The negative was highway 84 was right there and you could hear the cars and trains drive by. Next time I would have drove further in but it was late and dark when we got there. In the morning I could see other cars parked in the next turn outs. It’s very dry right now and there is a fire ban throughout the state. No fires even though there are fire rings. I posted photos so you can see all the dry vegetation.

always a great place to stay while driving through...

Great place to camp just past Springs campground. Easy access to ATV tracks for nice hikes. Pretty peaceful and great place to let a dog roam off leash.

Report Check-In

Nice, quiet didn’t have a soul come by. Watched a storm south of me pass by.

Great spot just off NF-21. When you get on 21, take your immediate right and go up the hill. There are a ton of spots and any car can make it. We took one that opened up to a huge meadow and loved it.

Report Check-In

I started up this road around 4pm and all of the pull outs were taken. one by an abandoned camper with garbage surrounding it. I went up to the campground about 2 miles in and got the last easy spot. Kind of surprised it was so busy in October but it was a Saturday.

Report Check-In

Right if I-84, plenty of options. I got here late (11 pm). The first few spots closest to the hwy were taken but was able to find a nice location within a few min of exploring

Report Check-In

Exit 248. Plenty of place to camp. Quiet and away from the highway.

Report Check-In

We got here around 8:30pm. there is only one other group here when we first arrived but at least a dozen cars drove by before 11 p.m.. level pull outs, nice trees, decent cell service for Verizon.

Report Check-In

There is a note from the admin but we looked it up on line and camping is allowed. And there is lots of it! This is a beautiful forest with lots of roads and private camping spots. With a high clearance vehicle you can explore the entire forest.

Report Check-In

There are pull offs all along this dirt road. The first one is relatively close to the highway but you can always for farther back. Tons of old fire rings so it seems like people camp here a lot. Very quiet and a good stop if you’re traveling on 84!
