Description

This is the kind of campground you envision when you think of Montana.

At the end of a well maintained road there are 14 well spaced sites with fire pit and picnic tables. Two streams border the site and it’s very wooded with high trees. There is hand pumped well water and put toilets but no other services. The cost is now $8 but it’s well maintained.

We were here midweek in June and about half the sites were occupied. I’ve heard it gets very busy at the weekend due to proximity to Helena.

Finally - there’s a great 10km out and back hike from the campsite. And an excellent 25k MTB trail starting on the same trail as the hike.

What a beautiful campground. Shaded, with a river running through. Great MTB/ hiking/ horse trails right there. Absoluely no cell service. The road to the campground is paved for about the first half of the journey, then washboard gravel. Would dedinitley stay again.
