Camping not encouraged.
Camping near waterholes in conservancy areas endangers wildlife depending on this scarce resource. Be respectful and find a place a few kms away for the night.

we saw 20 wild elephants and plenty of baboons on the way to the waterhole, so we decided not to sleep here! amazing place. need a 4x4 to cross several times the dry river (sand).
Report Check-InDont camp anywhere near the water, it is swarming with flies, especially in the evening. Got bitten through the shirt by big horseflies, mosquitoes and possible sandflies. Tiny flies also made it past our rooftop tents insect netting with no problem…
No MTC.
In july we did not see nor hear any animals, but there’s quite a few different birds. Quite some water in many places at this time of year but not high
Report Check-InPlenty of fantastic spots to wild camp along the Huab river 4x4 trail. No need to stay near a waterhole and scaring wild animals from drinking when waterplaces are so few during dry season. Drive a few kms further.
Report Check-InStunning location! Had our dinner here but didn't stay the night as there was a flowing river and didn't want to be caught in a flash flood. Had to cross the river about 7 times to get here. There was a cow carcass nearby that by morning had been dragged by a leopard and the head eaten. We stayed between the main road and the first river crossing in order to have an easy exit route in case of a flood. There are so many possibilities to wild camp here. We had a view of a bat cave and saw a giraffe in the morning. A lot of evidence of elephants from many weeks ago, there is currently water everywhere so they are elsewhere.
Report Check-Invery nice spot, saw fresh elephant tracks and poo, but not the animals. bring firewood from along the road, there is enough
Report Check-Inspent the night at the waterhole as well. lots of signs of wildlife but saw only a wildebeest while approaching the camping site.
We have met some 4x4 taking people on tour just before the sunsets.
otherwise a very nice place , easily accessible.
Report Check-InAmazing stunning spot, thanks for sharing!
I didn't see any wildlife (other than cows which scared me during the night with very noisy sounds, as I didn't know what they were!)
I climbed the mountain to the right and you get awesome 360 views into the river bed and mountains! recommended
The road continues into the valley, probably worth exploring but I am running out of fuel
Thanks, amazing spot a real Oasis with running water. we saw a mountain zebra and when we arrived, hope to see more animals. We have cut the branches on the way for the high trucks. Babuns in the afternoon. We stayed another night, at noon 8 came to drink.
Report Check-InWe passed a quiet night near the watering hole. We saws signs of elepants (tracks, poop and trees stripped of bark) but didn't see them. A guide we met when we arrived said a group of 15 was in the area. Beautiful landscape. Follow gravel road to get here (4x4 not needed).
