Mono Lake Overlook / Powerline Road | Wild Camping

The marker is along a road with many tracks that lead out to good camping spots. The ground may be a little soft here and there so be careful. Though, easy to manage with a 2wd.

When we were here the road was completely washed out before we reached the marker (deep hole with steep sides, full width of the road).

beautiful spot honestly, didn't have too many issues getting here but weren't able to get into this specific spot.

we are in a 24ft class rv. the ground at this spot was very very soft and there was no traction for us. the spot is fairly small, we would have fit but getting into it was too difficult. I would recommend this spot better to any offroad or 4x4 vehicle with clearance.

we ended up staying at a spot a little further back down that road.

overall, beautiful views BUT very dusty, windy and dry.

It's still open. There was some smoke in the air while we were there so can't speak for the view. Scrub desert area, nothing too special. You can take the back road into Bodie from here (~30 minutes), comes out right before the gate.

This was an amazing campsite. Some shade. Down a dirt road. Had a fire pit with wood but it was too hot to use it. View of the whole lake. Only complaint is it wasn’t completely level. We slept in a RTT and should have leveled the jeep. Not too many bugs or critters. Never saw a soul drive down the road.

Enough room for 2 vehicles and several tents. Easy gravel/dirt road to access. Great view and great firepit with dispersed small pine tree cover.
