Description

I very easy place to cross into Mexico with little traffic or drama. Cross bridge, $3 toll. Go to the back of the building where they inspect you as you come into Mexico. The is an entrance under a little carport affair. Go in an walk past the Banjericito to the left. There is a little office on the left hand side with a single lady. You will need passport, driver license, vehicle title and registration plus copies of each. You will go back and forth between her and the Banjercito a couple of times. All fees were charged to my credit card. Took about 20 minutes.

Super easy border!

We crossed from Mexico to US!

First we passed by a tool, payed (MX$ 30,00 or US$1,70)

Went to the left, to Mexico imigration to stamp our passports with our exit, we hadn’t to do anything about the car permit since it is a RV and it is valid for 10 years!
If you are sure you are not coming back to Mexico for the next 10 years with this same car you can cancel it!
So then we got back to the car, crossed the bridge, had our car inspection, lost our chicken and some veggies!
As Brazilian citizen a had to go inside the building to get my passport stamped, also I paid US$ 6 for it, super helpful and gentle agents it took only 5 minutes.
My husband as Italian Citizen didn’t had to go inside, just presented his ESTA and passport to the first agent that stoped us after the bridge and that’s it!

A lot of American goes to Mexico only to shopping and do dental treatments or take their pets to the vet or to just enjoy the city!
They don’t need to do any immigrations process if they are going to spend only the day over there, so it’s was a really empty border to do the crossing process!

- We we’re really afraid of this border since every single Mexican told us to no go to El Paso, Reynosa or Matamorros because we would be kidnapped or robbed by the narcos, they said that would be better to cross at Tijuana, but since it wasn’t our way we decided to go anyway and we took some cautions!

-It’s very important to never drive during the night in Mexico!
We were at Puebla, so we left very early in the morning, drove until Ciudad de Victoria, slept at a hotel there, woke up early and got to the border around 11am!
We were really worried and afraid all the way, but to be honest the road was really good, we were stoped at a military check point few hours before Reynosa and we actually felt safe during all the time!

Exit Mexico/Enter US

Very easy crossing for US citizens and mellow for all travelers on the weekdays.

Drive straight through Progresso Nuevo (last change for cheap souvenirs) and to the toll bridge. Get into the LEFT lane and pay the toll ($1.25)
Go to the Mexican Banjercito immediately on the left, it's slightly hard to see. There will be parking spaces and the Aduana and Coja are in an office to the left.
Present your TIP and the inspector who will take a quick look at your VIN number, take a picture of your car, and issue the refund.
Exit the parking lot and continue left on the bridge. You will now come to US Customs and Inspections. Have your documents ready and be prepared to answer the usual questions...where have you been, where are you going, and anything to declare.

Others will have to fill in the steps for importing a vehicle to US. We are citizens and did no have to do that process.

Happy and safe travels to all reading this!

Toll is $3 and its very narrow crossing - need to be ultra careful but the staff is very kind and helpful - definitely very easy crossing from the US to Mexico, before crossing we got online and bought an insurance for a week on Bajabound - for $50 after we took 2 - 97- 101 to Ciudad Victoria - no hassle - safe way - 2 toll stops $3 each but worth it
