Description

*Camping is illegal in this area.
.....
We passed a quiet night next to an artificial waterhole 13 km from Etosha north gate. There are a few metal gazebos. Lots of cows and goats in the area and some buffalo and impala. Saw some cool birds at sunset. A few trucks passed during the night and in the early morning but none stopped. Some trash but overall good free spot just outside the park.

Latest Check-Ins

We came here weekends and in daytime and it has indeed a lot of people. It is more or less a park next to a waterhole where people can spend time.

Can be a good space to sleep, maybe bette ein week days. We left as there were a lot of people and it is also directly next to the main road to the park.

A very nice wild camp spot! There is a waterhole with many cows, goats, horses and dogs, but also wildebeests and antipope’s. Locals come here as well. We set up camp when it was dark as it is next to the road, as there are no cars passing these hours.

The next day we charged our electric car here with our 60m2 solar panels. So more than enough space for several cars.

ILLEGAL TO CAMP HERE
We were about to get in our rooftop tents when a vehicle from the Ministry of Tourism came by.
2 guys told us it was illegal to camp here and that we were taking the risk to be fined + wild life risk.
We explained it was a public area with no sign whatsoever that it was illegal but the guys repeatedly explained that in all the area it was only legal to camp in the designated (non-free) campsites, and that this place is only for day-time fun and not for camping.
Since the kids were already sleeping they let us for this time, asking to immediately shut off all lights and telling they would come by in a bit to check again.
I strongly don’t recommend to stay here.

Wonderful and quiet place. We were alone so we spent a good night. Hot water to take a shower. Garbage bins and shelters. Waterhole full of birds and wildebeests. We recommend totally.

Perfect place just 12kms and 10 min. North of the gate. We drove out of Etosha at 18:00 and set up our camp just before sunset. Half an hour later the full moon appeared magically at the horizon. Perfect way to end 2 days of Ethosha!
In the dry season you can follow a track going West from the fontain and park a few hundred meters further like we did. Lovely place and very quiet. A few cars passed on the gravel going to Etosha, but nobody stopped. MTC edge available.

Exzellent Place near a Little lake and an artesic fountain. In the evening here are lots of young people making music dancing drinking eatinng. Very peaceful. In the Night a Heavy Thunder Storm passed with Lots of Rain. Also That was no problem because the ground (Sand) was stabil enough.
We saw also some open pit WC ….

This is a great place to stay although it is right next to the road. Road is quite. No traffic at night. We cleaned up party of the area as there was a lot of trash around. If would not stay here over a weekend or public holiday as it is a party area.
