Free camping on the banks of the river near the ferry landing. The ferry operates on the hour from 6:00 to 18:00. Northbound the ferry is free. Southbound you will have to pay and get a permit in Georgetown. It is not possible to pay at the ferry itself.

Spent the night at the ferry landing. Great sunset and peaceful and quiet all night long. But, at 6am the ferry starts operating and the teucks waiting in line keep their engine running. We parked on the old landing, which is slightly above the currently active one. Asked for permission at the little shop/bar next door. Free
Report Check-InArrived 4PM, signs stating no ticket sales however they do sell tickets. Why wouldn't you it must be one of the most expensive ferries in the world 300 meters for 150 AUD or around 110 Euro. We told them our truck was 9000KG. as it worked out it was based on 1 or 2 rear axels. Money supposed to go to a better road?!?!?! Anyway we did purchase our ticket in Georgetown just to make sure.
Report Check-InWe slept next to the little restaurant after asking the owner. Toilet and shower accessible. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sleeping was free but we bought drinks and breakfast. Friendly people. Quiet at night. Electricity available.
