You need a permit November at April. During the summer it have lot of mosquitoes, but it’s free. It have a lot flat site, very quiet and 5 min to North entree of crater lake. We stayed 4 nights.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
All of the established campgrounds in the area are closed for the season so this site seems to be the only option for camping this time of year. It’s great! Like others have said, the layout is just like a campground - we found a great little pull through spot in the trees that is secluded from the others camping here. Level ground, lots of space, just be sure not to miss the left turn into the park or you’ll get stuck down the narrow logging road.
Report Check-InDefinitely have to check more snow parks! Lots of spaces. It’s not a big parking lot. More like a campground. Probably 6-8 rigs when we came in and more after. Level spots. Like a campground without fire pits or tables. Perfect after visiting Crater Lake. Decent cell.
Report Check-InI didn’t have service so I couldn’t use the coordinates, so I’m not sure I was in the exact area but I made it work. Lots of turns but it was a quiet and very spacious!
Report Check-InHuge place with tons of spots. Quiet. Very close to Crater lake north entrance. Almost empty when we stayed there late August and no mosquitos.
Report Check-InGreat place to spend the night, super convenient location near Crater Lake and nearby hikes! Very accessible for all vehicles, like all of the other snow parks. Not paved
Report Check-InGreat place and out of sight of the main road. Heaps of space. Fire pits around, please check no fire bans in place before lighting. Pretty clean too, please keep it that way fellow travellers!
Report Check-InGreat spot! I was picturing a paved parking lot but it’s not that at all. Lots of trees and privacy. Open areas if you want sun and closed areas if you want privacy.
No facilities so pack out what you pack in. It is very clean now so let’s keep it that way!
Spent two nights here and it was wonderful. Many flat spots and many people but no one was a bother. Pretty buggy and definitely mosquitos at night. Super close to Diamond Lake which was lovely as well. Hardly any Verizon service.
Report Check-Inas described very large network of flat spots, showed up in dark no problem finding a spot, quiet at night, intermittent truck noise, adequate ATT service 2 bars
Report Check-InLots of easy & level spots to camp. Verizon service was good. Mosquitos weren’t bad when I was there. Conveniently close to crater lake N.P.
Report Check-InWe didn’t stay at this exact spot, but in the general area. This was a great place to stay with tons of spots to pull off and find some privacy. Quiet (could hear a little road noise if you park close enough but it wasn’t bad at all). Smooth, gravel road and room for whatever you’re traveling in depending on where you park. We are in our Ford Ranger, but there were plenty of places for big rigs, too. Spotty service for Verizon. The pit toilet was older but was nice (for a pit toilet), had toilet paper, and not smelly. We didn’t really have any mosquitoes; probably depends on what time of year and what the climate is like. It’s been really dry and hot so that could be why we didn’t notice any. Not far from the main road or the Diamond Lake Campground to fill up our 7gal water container. No one bothered us at all.
Pack in, pack out because there are no trash cans.
Tons and tons of places to camp. Lots of flat areas that are separated by trees so you have privacy and shade. 20 minute drive from here to the rim of crater lake. Very spotty cell service with AT&T. Mosquitos are constant but especially at dusk. Worth it for free camping so close to CRATER. Also a bit dusty from the dirt roads. We drove over to Broken Arrow campground and used the showers there and let our dogs swim in the lake (5min drive)
Report Check-InGreat spot with lots of pull outs. Camping in Oregon Sno-Parks is free of charge May through October according to the US Dept. Of Interior
Report Check-InStayed for the night. Plenty of space with a couple of trucks and RVs who are basecamping for snowmobile riding. I was concerned because the other post said something about permits but no one bothered me and the locals who are there for snowmobiles didn’t say anything about it either. Woke up to snow cover but got out just fine in the morning. Had one bar of LTE for T-Mobile, enough for txt and internet.
Report Check-InSuch a nice spot and quiet. Beautiful in the snow. Close to the resort to get food.
Report Check-InQuiet place as described. In this big area is place for everyone. Stand here for 2 days without problems.
Report Check-InI've never encountered mosquitos this bad. Don't leave your rig, not even to use the bathroom. Must be the season, as we were also chased out of crater lake that evening. Plenty of spots to camp any size rig and quiet, but I won't be going back if I can help it.
