Description

This section of around 7-8 km, from where the track heads inland from the coast, until it gets back to the coast is very steep and rough, with loose rocks. Anything other than a high-clearance 4x4 almost certainly won't get through. If you get this far but can't make this section, it's a long way back. The trail up from the south to here is tar as far as the mine at San Juan de la Costa, then wash-board corrugation gravel road drivable by any robust car. It's a very beautiful drive, the scenery is stunning! Well worth it if your vehicle can make it through.

Just passed headingnorth in a heavy 4x4 Sprinter 144. slow going and some sections we had to move rocks but doable in anything capable. Gorgeous drive and absolutely worth it.

Report Check-In

This section is totally fine after recent huricane in October 2023. Pretty chill for anyone with 4x4 with high clearance and pretty easy on bikes.

Report Check-In

From both directions, only high clearance 4x4 vehicles with good tires can make it. A couple of hills are extremely steep with lose stones and partly washed out on spots where the concrete stops.

2advrider info still pretty much correct. 3 riders on KTM 790’s and a V-Strom made it to San Evaristo with not much problem. A few minor sandy sections on the road in, only one crash! 3 riders on T700’s told us not to take the V-Strom west from San Evaristo to hwy 1, too difficult for a big loaded lower clearance bike.

We were pleasantly surprised on this one. It seams a lot of the bad sections have been paved now (concrete) no real challenging sections, high clearance is still required but certainly not hard core 4x4 (although we didn’t see any 2WD vehicles to the north of this point! In any case, no longer as bad as the previous reports stated.
