Amazing spot! Stayed for a handful of nights, was a few hikers coming through during the day but no one bothered us. There is a bus there off to the side like previous comment mentioned. I parked next to him and saw his generator, but after I asked he kindly moved it out of sight over the hill and we never heard it - slept soundly other the the train and occasional honks from the road. 9.5/10

stayed here for 5 days in a row. no issues, some guy has a bus and a fiat and it seems like he just lives there. at least 10 cars parked here each night. the train runs right next to the road and the bus guy runs his generator all night sometimes, so it can be loud, but nothing beats free this close to Banff.

Like 10-15 Cars here right now. No problem, enough space for all of us. It's near the road but not much traffic.

Gap Lake Day Use area down the road has two pit latrines and a few picnic areas, but no overnight parking. This parking lot was BUMPIN. Arrived at 8pm to 12 other vehicles (see pictures of lot size), saw two vehicles give up and leave and there were about 16 when we awoke. Tried to stay again a few nights later, but arrived at 11pm and there were >20 vehicles and no space. Another lot 1-2 min down the road back toward Canmore on the same side of 1, but only has room for 3-5 spots and the clearance made us think we couldn’t get in with a minivan. If you can get a spot, very convenient for heading to Banff NP.

Bon spot pour passer une nuit. Nombreux à partir de 20h. Proche de la route mais calme dans la nuit !
(Si il n’y a plus de place dispo allez au spot proche Riviere de Kananaskis à 13mins de celui-ci)

Amazing spot! Loads of room. Loads of people when we got there all super friendly, everyone parks pretty close to each other to ensure everyone who needs a place for the night can have it. Woods off to the side to pee, can't see the campers from it.

Lot fills up after 8p, so good to arrive earlier. Nice flat lot with room for smaller rigs - vans and such.

Perfect little spot for overnight camping near Canmore! Please be reminded to pack out all your trash. And come on girls( or boys)use a pee clothe or trash your toilet paper in a trash bag that you probably have in your camp/car/van. Don’t be disgusted by your own body fluid, it’s your body. Please be respectful of the nature and the cities that you travel own. Those place will disappear if not taking care of. The more it become popular, the more trash sadly we find. Be mindful and happy travel. :)

endroit tranquille même si près de la route aucun service mais nous y sommes très bien, nous étions 3 à l'arrivée et pour terminer presque 12

This is a parking lot probably for a trail. It is just on the side of the road and near what is like a used quarry...
There were several cars when we came in, but they left before 6pm. We were 2RV and 4 cars for the night at 8pm. Now, at 9h30pm there is 8 cars and 3 smal RV

fit 17 of us last night. no full size rvs. no problem for anyone to pull in or out without needing anyone else to move.

Nice spot with space for probably 6-8 vans. A bit noisy with traffic and trains but not too bad.

Slept here for a week with a 18 foot trailer and 18 foot truck so 36 feet all together. It definitely gets busy as it’s the only place to park near Canmore pretty much. The lot can fit about 12-16 rigs and you can park anywhere without worry. We even unhooked our trailer and left it there for a day while doing activities. It’s secure but a little loud at night but not too bad. Make sure to arrive by 7 at the latest if you want to get a spot. Service is terrible with rogers. Lucky if you can load a google search.

Good spot to park for a night or two. Really close to Canmore if you want to eXplore in the morning or waiting on a campsite in banff. Good views on the mountains. Place gets pretty packed (even on a Wednesday night, there were 7-8 campers) so make sure to get there before dark!

Easy place to park. Its a trailhead type parking lot. It gets PACKED. There were 21 different vans/campers there on a Monday night. We slept two nights and both were packed. If you want a spot get there before 8pm

Small parking beside a road and train line but pretty quiet at night. Crowded though! Don’t arrive too late or it might be difficult to find a spot. Good for a night or two.

Very crowded. A few trains in late evening. For one night ok for me. Quite during night. Nice view on mountains though

slept one night there, full of people haha so might be too crowded in high season. however very great for one night lololol

Report Check-In

We slept there for 3 nights. Some other vans parked there too. It was close to banff and pretty calm for the night

I camp here overnight very often. I'd say about 10 times so far. I live in Banff, but often going on adventures to Canmore or to Kananaskis in the early mornings, so I camp out in this spot to save me time in the morning.

It fits a lot of cars and big rigs. You'll often see at least 3+ campers parked here every night.

It's right off the road, but it's very quiet as cars don't drive by often. There is a train on the other side of the road and a stop just a little further down, so you may hear trains fairly often just before going to bed, but it's honestly not that bad. I like this spot.

Consider taking 5 to pick up rubbish; it may not be our garbage, but it’s our responsibility to keep our Earth clean. :)

parking lot at a trailhead for hikers and climbers. can get busy during the day at weekends. really close to the highway and railway, but still it's a free place to stay to explore banff national park, Canmore etc.
since there are more people it gets more dirty. pls pack it in and pack it out :)
