United States
This is a parking lot for the ski area. There are three parking lots: upper, middle, and lower. In the upper parking area there is a resort with restrooms and running water available 24 hours a day. Camping is in the lower lots. Concrete or gravel expanse, no hook-ups. Scenic views of the surrounding mountains. Only a few campers and Mt. Shasta employees around. Camping is free.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This is OPEN (at least during winter season)! Still free camping for up to three days for customers (skiing, tubing, restaurant, retail). Must check-in at guest services and they give you a permit for your windshield.
The RV/trailer camping area is on the right before you approach the signs for Lot 1 & 2.
If you arrive after they already closed, check-in first thing in the morning as they do monitor and said they need to know if you are here (liability?).
No need to be self-contained, I saw portos in the parking lot.
Gorgeous views all around.
They keep all of the lots and the main road in nicely plowed.
Open sky for Starlink, but I didn’t even need to turn it on because Verizon worked great!
Enjoy!
definitely closed in the summer, drove up to check out the resort as we were driving through and not so friendly man ran out that we were trespassing..before we even stopped driving…very weird vibes.
Report Check-InI'm not sure if this is true in summer and it just isn't mentioned, but when the ski resort is running, you need a permit (free) to stay. super friendly staff, excited to attract travelers. great views, definitely enjoying our stay.
Report Check-InPlenty of space for campers. Camping is for mountain bikers so likely only open during mountain biking season.
Report Check-InTried to park here for one night. The entire parking lots were empty. An unfriendly person appeared and signed us away. So we left.
Report Check-InStayed one night under the wisdom of the pines! Near lower lot off FR36. Quiet & peaceful. Couple trucks throughout the night. Upper lots closed as of now.
Report Check-Inthe first large parking lot is to the left. As you go further back in the lot stay to the left, there is free camping amongst the trees and on dirt. Very nice, large spots. Right now the upper part of the ski area is closed. The lowest parking area is open.
