Great campsite! Richard built everything himself and he did a great job. Everything was kept really clean. We stayed three nights and had a really good time. Richard is a great guy, he took the time to teach us the local game Bao. Definitely recommend going here on the way in or out of Serengeti.

This is what I hope for in an African campsite! Set up and managed by a local man, Richard, to support his family in Mwanza.
In the main road but minimal noise overnight. Some local cattle noise at the most!
Clean well kept grounds. Hammocks, kids swings, hanging plants/herbs. Some shade by trees. Plenty of level flat space for tents.
Covered area with netting to minimise insects, with tv and electricity points, tables and chairs with lovely local cloth covers. Perfect in the rain!
Made us a lovely lunch, did our washing and for firewood -and we didn’t even have a booking.
The toilets, washing area and bins were all cleaned overnight.
Friendly staff, excellent English spoken.
WiFi available
25’000pp 10’000’each for washing, wood, etc and 15’000 for a meal (we had chicken chips salad and fruit desert with a bottle of water).
2 minutes from the Serengeti gate.

Absolutely must visit camp site if you’re towards the western side of the Serengeti. Very well run camp site with clean toilets and powerful showers. Richard the owner has really put his heart and soul into this camp site.

Richard gave us plenty of help when it came to navigating the western Serengeti. He also helped us out when the Serengeti decided to break our car.

We paid 25,000tzs pppn which is extremely good considering it’s proximity to the national park (3 minute drive!!!! No lie)

We have over landed around all of east Africa, the personal touch always does it for me.

Report Check-In

Warm welcome from Richard, the owner. Great campsite with shade, clean neat ablutions, kitchen and dining area. Excellent value for money. Richard is a mine of info re the Serengeti and surrounds. Gave us some excellent advice. Highly recommended

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite, don't negotiate 10$ a night pp, it's worth the price!

Report Check-In

Lovely place. Well maintained and nicely designed campsite. The owner is a kind man. Ablutions are great and clean. We had a very silent night here and were the only guests.

Report Check-In

Like discribed. The ablutions are very clean, so we feel very well. Richard, the owner, organised a game drive with his vehicle and his driver in the Serengeti:migration of the gnus and river crossing - great, not cheap but a wonderful experience.

25.000 TSZ/ 10 USD pppn

Very nice campsite with hanging gardens, fire place, hammocks and a swing.

Everything you need, hot water, electricity, WiFi, laundry service, food available.

Report Check-In

A nice and clean place like in the description. We paid 10 US Dollars ppn.

Richards camp is way way better than everything you will find in Tanzania. Dry grass stands with power and WiFi. Clean ablution with sit toilet and shower within hot water. Security and outdoor light. There is a kitchen to use and a nice dinning Boma. Richard as guide knows a lot about Serengeti NP and can offer day tours. we paid 20.000TZC pppn and had good fish and chips for 15.000 pp and they arranged some cold drinks.

Report Check-In

Lovely campsite. Perfect in every way. I could’ve stayed another few days. Manicured lawns, great facilities and big trees.

Report Check-In

Even in heavy rains this is a beautiful campsite with immaculately clean ablutions, kitchen, leisure room.
Richard is a great, thoughtful, considerate owner and manager. It's been a pleasure staying here.
Credit card payment available!

Report Check-In

It's a very nice campsite right on the road, everything is really very clean and is one of the best campsites in Tanzania. The owner Richard organizes a day trip to the Serengeti. The hut and cooking kitchen are available, electricity is also available with a longer cable.

Report Check-In

A nice little campsite with friendly staff and good facilities. Seems more geared up for overlanding trucks but worked well for us. The ablutions are really nice with decent hot water. You can also buy some beers from the chaps.

Someone pinned this place twice, for more comments look at the other pin (zoom in the app map).

Report Check-In

Agrees with all the previous comments! We felt that a lot of thought and effort was invested in this place!

We booked a private tour through Richard in the western corridor of the Serengeti (because we wanted to see the big migration crossing in the Gurmeti River - and we did manage!!).

The private tour included just a safari jeep and a driver who was a guide as well.

We paid 360 USD directly to Richard for the drive plus 240 USD to the NP office (fees and accommodation for 2 people, 24-hour permit).
In total 150 USD for one person per day.

Should be noted: the Serengeti main roads were ok (they maintain them every year after the rainy season) but we don't recommend doing it with your own vehicle. There are no signs in the park and it seems that the guides know well where the animals are and accordingly, where to take off the main roads. According to the high park's fee, trying by yourself can be a waste of money.

Fantastic campsite with good washroom and shower facilities - had a lovely hot shower. Lots of beautiful hanging plants and comfortable hammocks around the campsite. Richard welcomed us and was very helpful

Report Check-In

Very clean, inviting campground equipped with hammocks, showers, cooking areas, and option for host to prepare delicious meals.

Report Check-In

we absolutely agree with all the previous description, what a lovely place!
We did a self drive safari with one of Richard staff members, super knowledgeable guide($40).

Had lunch and dinner once and the food was amazing (12.000 - 15.000 TSH)

Richard is a great guy who put a lot of effort and love into this place, everything you see he made himself
He also helped us out with some small issues we had with the car, since he is also a great mechanic(specially diesel engines)

When visiting the Serengeti highly recommend this place as your base camp!

Amazing camp site outside the park... Richard has put so much time and effort into making this camp site an amazing place for campers.. In comparison to what you pay and get inside the park, this camp site is waaay better.. Richard also does private tours inside the park.. Amazing ablution facilities with warm water and western toilets.. Kitchen area to make food and we were able to run our extension cord to the restaurant area for power. Absolutely LOVED this place.. When you are there, ask Richard what the name of his camp site means 😊 we paid USD10 pppn

Report Check-In

I second the previous description. Richard, who runs the campground, is very knowledgeable of the area. He had worked for Serengeti parks for fifteen years before opening his own campground. He also does guide service and the price is right.
To camp in the Serengeti public park is 36.00$ US per night and you get nothing at all. Just a place to pitch your tent or park your vehicle. Fuku, Fuku is 10.00$ US a night and the previous noted services. And yes the hot water is hot with good pressure. All in all this is a no brainer. Fuku, Fuku wins hands down.

Report Check-In

Really a nice place. The staff made dinner, breakfast and lunch to go for our visit at Serengeti. They helped us with the routing in the park. We hope that the coordinates which showed this place 16 km away from the Gate to the Nationalpark will be corrected. The place is definitely about 200 m beside the gate to find at the main road.

A small camping near the Ndabaka gate, a beautiful place to relax after a safari. People are kindly and friendly and you feel at home. Shower and toilettes are cleans and with hot water.

Report Check-In

This location is wrong. It is opposite the Serengeti stop over campsite. It is a lovely place indeed, with such friendly staff, and much better value than Serengeti Stop Over.
