Similar to my last post:
if you're trying to get to Lanquin/Semuc Champey or Coban from Flores, I 100% recommend taking the other route, which is road PTE-11, and of course avoiding Road 5, taking AV-9 instead near Coban. This road from Lake Izabal heading towards Lanquin is insane and you really need a 4x4. Our Ford transit with all terrain tires couldn't handle it plus it was just super uncomfortable to be rocking and driving soooo slow for sooo long. It was too much. It's crazy to those who made it here without a 4x4 lol really wild. Just saving you a headache.
Unless you like that type of adventure then go for it 😅

Nice stop in Lanquin. 120 qtz for two people with electricity. Parked next to the reception office. They have a nice restaurant which we ate there almost everyday. The food is okay, rating it 7/10 but decent price. friendly staff. Dog friendly. Our dogs got to play on the river below their dock and that was nice. They have a swing rope too. Showers and toilet available.

We showed up without reservation and spontaneously went on a tour, because a lady there speaks english. After the Tour she explained each wine in the degustation-room. You will receive a card with which you can get wine from the machine by yourself. The payment is per glass at the end of the tasting.
We liked it and recommend it.

Security said they are clamping down on this and no overnights are allowed and you will get a knock on the door and kicked out unless you have a room.

There is a 50 meter access road to Posta where you can park under 2 big pines. We ask for permit to park our camper to mr Jorge CĂĄrcamo who lives in front of the entry road.

They raised the price, it's now $12 p/p. They also said that the 2 other hostels on the same street now charge $15. I went to the other hostel and the price was $10 so I stayed there instead of here.
l felt like these people here at the hotel Kuyllur were dishonest. The other hotel Rumy Cruz Wasi was better in pretty much every way.

Found a nice spot here. It looks like there was a prescribed burn here in the last couple of years, which destroyed a bunch of the formerly established sites, but there's plenty of open area to re-establish them with the remnants of the old fire pits visible. This was a fairly easy going road, with my low clearance 2wd vehicle. There's still a couple of well established fire rings and we chose one of those to use. Further down the road, past the cattle guard was snowed in heavily, so we did have to choose one of the sooner ones. Slightly windy but not unpleasant, despite the chill, with a nice fire.

Excellent mechanic. We arrived with a Mercedes Benz Vario for service. He did a very thorough inspection above and beyond what had been done so far at Mercedes garages.
He is very busy, it is highly recommended to contact him via WhatsApp or come and make an appointment.

Didn’t stay here but checked it out, $40 for cheapest room without breakfast, then the prices go up from there for bigger rooms and breakfast. Has spacious parking in front of hotel whose gate probably locks at night. There’s a pool and it does seem new!

Dog park, propane fill up, looks like there’s an “RV Stop” in the making with basketball and tennis courts! Very nice truck stop especially after a long drive of nothing. I recommend filling up if headed south/east.

The price of a matrimonial with bathroom is still 60 soles. Much better than the average hotel you find at this price in Peru! It's clean, bed is comfy, hot shower. Secure garage (enough space for a car, height restriction). WiFi is still not great.

We visited La Rinconada today, we rode here with our motorbikes. The road is paved till more or less 5km before the town, some sections are better than others (expect some big potholes), the last kms before you get there are unpaved, muddy and with big puddles in rainy season but it's still doable with any car, locals do it with minibus. You will also have to cross a massive area of open-air landfill. A paved road to the town is currently being built.
When we arrived the police stopped us, they were extremely friendly but warned us not to go too far into the town and stay on the "main" road otherwise we would risk being shot. We wandered around a little bit, everyone seemed very nice and wanted to take photos with us, we didn't feel in danger while in the town but we didn't stay long.
You obviously don't come here for a nice scenery (though the glacier is impressive), but seeing the conditions people live in here is really eye opening and in some ways fascinating.

We weren't allowed to park with our truck camper inside the gated area, however they told us we could park on the street in front of the building. We continued to the Truck parking spot close to La Paz Centro, which has a guard.
