Just next to the tarmac street, there were people and we asked if we could refill, no problem! The people here drink the water as it is :)

On the way to Sani Pass. Not fully hidden from the road, but almost. Dead quiet at night, a couple of shepherds passed during daytime. Just enough space for a small tent

Deon and Martha are the most amazing host we've ever come across. So hospitable!
Currently room for ~2 cars, but soon much more space. Clean facilities, nice hot shower. Great pool with slide for the kids. A very nice communal area with multiple tables, seating area and fireplace, bar and kitchen all available to use. Price is USD 30 per car per night. Ask Deom if he wants to do the small potjekie dinner with you; we did it both evenings because it was so much fun (and very good food!). Can't recommend this place enough.

Nos quedamos un miercoles de noche y en la mañana del jueves a las 6am nos despertaron porque estaban armando una feria. Menos mal nos despertaron sino no podriamos salir una vez la feria armada

Manolo is a great guy and has a lot of interesting information about the natural and cultural history of Guatemala. The hike was pretty easy, we did it with our 5 and 2 year old and ended up springing for a horse for them to use when tired, which also made for some fun photos.

When traveling from Guatemala City, do not trust google maps. One route took us to a pedestrian bridge over the lake and another to a boulder strewn hill that was not safe to drive even in 4 low. Take the route through san Vicente.

Manolos nephews were playing with my kids and one told us he didn’t have toys. We gave them some sand toys and chalk, which they shared with their siblings. Bring the kids some gifts!

nice flat spots abound. some rock fire rings are present. no water. very quiet place among the saguaro cactus. when approaching the end of the road before blm land, please go slow and respect the people who live there. signs say, no trespassing, don't even ask. don't worry, you have access to blm land. I'd stay here again

I visited Nicolas coffee as I wanted to drink a good coffee. At the beginning guys working there offered me to talk to the townhall so I can sleep at the football pitch that was nearby. We had such a good vibe that they offered me a room upstairs where I could spend the night. I knew also few cyclist coming few days later and they said that there won’t be any problem for them to stay there two. Nicolas, Arturo, Alejandro and Manuel are amazing people and it shouls be a mandatory stop on your way to Cusco.

There is no sign with the name Espace Concorde, enter through the green gate and follow the sign to the restaurant. It's a nice spot by a lake in a walled property, quiet over night.

Unfortunately at the restaurant it seems to be classic African hospitality that I have experienced so far on my trip, very docile staff, sitting around on their phones or picking at their toenails. We ordered some food as we thought it was only right in exchange for staying the night. Personally I wasn't impressed, we had cold fried plantain and fried chicken with onion - even though I asked for grilled. The food is not expensive so don't expect anything special.

Cheap beer though bock 500cfa, in the future I would just buy a few of these and make my own food.

Amazing place in the middle of nature.
We stay here in our tents and was our welcome in Guatemala.. simply amazing and peaceful place..
You have the lake in less then 5 minutes walking and an amazing hiking till a few beautiful “mirador” of the lake.. Chello is very kind and very attentive to your needs..
We recommend this place in particular if you looking for sound of nature and pace.. we paid in two with a tent 80 quetzal a night.

beautiful spot, just not a ton of camping space. really popular with boaters and day-users but not so much with overnight campers. we were there for 5 days and only 2 other groups stayed at any point. wouldn't recommend for large trailers, best for vans and car camping.

Turn off 49 onto 500. Open and close the cowboy gate behind you. Pawnee national grassland west. Plenty of spots along 500 with a few small shooting ranges, which is still public land within Pawnee.

Caution: be careful where you leave the van unattended, as robbers tried to break into mine (the alarm saved me) when I left it next to the road to do a trekking. This was not in the parking spot marked (which was great) but a few kilometers further.

Good spot for our rooftop tent. Stayed 1 night.
Crowded in the evening but after sunset empty. Sufers will come early in the morning (6am) with atv‘s and scooters so be prepared for an early start of the day.

Be forewarned...there is a $10 fee to fill with water if you are not camped here. The camp host collected this from me. The spigot has no signage regarding this, and consequently I paid $10 for 8 gallons of water.

Much space on the edge of the lake. Just enter by one of the dirt roads leading down. Beautiful views over the salt flats with llamas and flamingos. Water available however we used the water spot in the village for filling up our drinking water.

Water wasn’t really warm and we did not use it for drinking, but great place for washing off the salt after crossing the salt flats with bicycles. We cleaned the bikes and our luggage inside the concrete bath and nobody cared. After that we just camped nearby with a nice view on the salt flats.
